Premium Member Diesel Posted January 17, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted January 17, 2003 I think that this is what Babcock need to do. When we talk about getting a PG to help Terry... Billups could be the guy. He's got a scorer's mentality but he also has size. Rebracca has been said to be unhappy in Detroit. On the other end, Theo/Wallace would be the most powerful defensive duo in the NBA. Detroit would be licking their lips thinking about this trade. Detroit can move Atkins to the point and a deal is made. What do you guys think?? Atlanta trades: C Theo Ratliff (7.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 0.7 apg in 29.4 minutes) Atlanta receives: C Zeljko Rebracca (6.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 16.0 minutes) PG Chauncey Billups (12.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +11.4 ppg, -1.4 rpg, and +3.1 apg. Detroit trades: C Zeljko Rebracca (6.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 16.0 minutes) PG Chauncey Billups (12.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) Detroit receives: C Theo Ratliff (7.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 0.7 apg in 37 games) Change in team outlook: -11.4 ppg, +1.4 rpg, and -3.1 apg. Guest
Billups is not a true PG.I'd really like th have him because he is a decent player but isn't a true PG either. I'd consider doing your trade.Ben Wallace and Theo would be a good tandem.
Premium Member Diesel Posted January 17, 2003 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted January 17, 2003 Well, it helps everybody involved. We have the worst ball handling 2 in the league. It allows teams to totally devastate Terry. However, this trade gives us a reasonable Billups. I agree he's not a pure PG... However, I think he could intiate the offense pretty well and he could also be a scorer. Terry can move over to the SG position. And Detroit would do it because it would finalize their defensive scheme. Theo needs a Wallace playing PF beside him. A guy who can rebound. Wallace would be great with Theo playing beside him. A guy who can swat shots also. I'd be scared to meet that team in the playoffs, unless I were boston.
beav
I'd be leery of taking a chance helping detroit to beat use more often...
Traceman
I wouldn't do that deal. I'd offer Theo/Glover/filler to Portland for Dale Davis/DA or something along those lines. Rebraca and Billups simply are not enough for Theo. That doesn't even take into account the fact that we would be making Detroit, a division rival, MUCH stronger. Premium Member Diesel Posted January 17, 2003 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted January 17, 2003 I said only Boston wouldn't fear Detroit. Well, we wouldn't either. IF they had Theo/Wallace, their main thing would be interior defense. However, if we had Billups, we take away one of their better perimeter defenders... ANd we have 2 good outside scorers. However, it's a good point that it's not enough for Theo... So maybe we tack on something and they tack on something... Maybe: Theo/CC to Detroit for Williamson/Rebracca/Billups. That seems very fair... BUt I doubt they'd go for it.
Guest
Don't over estimate Theo's value.he's only a 7/7 player himself.
