Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!!

Two terrible things have happened.

1 -- The Hawks can't seem to beg, borrow or steal a

victory on the road. Why? If I knew and could fix it,

then I would be the coach and/or G.M. of the Hawks.

When the going gets tough, we have no one to turn

to, no "Go to" player that we can rely upon to turn

us around, no veteran to give us "Just a few minutes"

off the bench and straighten us out. Steve Smith

is quoted as saying he wants to come back and finish

his carreer as a Hawk. That is the type player we need

right now.

Toni K. did that for us last season. Most of us didn't

realise what he brought to this team until he was gone

and now it is too late. I know, he was out a lot with

injuries, but, when he played, the entire team played

much better. He kept the fire burning. We have no

such player now. We need one.

Who is available to fill that roll that Hawks might

obtain without selling the farm to get him? Now,

that brings me to point # 2 of the terrible things that

have happened.

2 -- Someone or more than one somebodies has run

their mouth and now Diesel, the guru of the daily

trade ideas, refuses to post trades. Why did they

do it? If they don't want to read his trade ideas,

simply go to the next post. His thought provoking

ideas, some of which I admit, didn't make a lot of

sense and sometimes were exactly what we needed

to think about, provided entertainment here for many

of us less knowledgeable fans.

Why insult one of our own? I don't understand it. I

hope Diesel will reconsider. His posts and Walter's

replies, which sometimes can go on for days, have

brought a light to Hawksquawk that no other place

on the net can boast of. These two avid fans, who

would disagree about almost anything, occasionally

shock us here by agreeing with each other. Not often,

but it happens!!

And now, Diesel no longer will post trade ideas. Who

ever didn't want to read his trade ideas, get over it.

Get Diesel back on his "Trade of the day" schedule.

It brings life to this dreary season.

These two things need fixin' right now! Please!!!

Couldn't hit the shots at the end -- How many did we

blow in the final 2 minutes?? Several, and it wasn't

just one player, it was the three big scorers who didn't

get it to go down, and they all tried.

Once again, these Hawks managed to snatch defeat

right out of the jaws of victory. The win was there,

we just couldn't bring ourselves to grasp it.

Dan D. looked dandy at the point tonight. I love J.T.

and what he brings to the offensive side of the court

but I have to agree with others here, he just isn't a

point guard. He is a 2 guard -- plays a great 2 guard

and handles the ball well there.

In baseball, for you that follow the sport, there is a

pitcher that is designated as "Closer." He comes in

when the game is on the line and finishes up the game.

Hawks are in desperate need of a "Closer" who can

come in for the final push and get the job done. We

don't have one. We didn't have one last season and

it cost us several games. That cost us another one

tonight. No one could close the deal out. No one

could get the ball in the hole.

Another opportunity down the drain. These players

are professional, paid well to do the job. They just

aren't earning the mega bucks that they are being

paid. Heck, we can loose games with an entire roster

made up of Development League players. We can't

seem to win with what we have now.

Exciting game, right up to the finish, that's true. But,

where is the victory -- Like the Edsel from Ford Motor

Company, it doesn't exist any more.

Sad time for Hawk fans --------------------------
