Gray Mule
When the outcome is a foregone conclusion, what is the excitement of watching the Lakers? If you can possibly stop the man mountain, who is so huge, then the rest of the team will have you for supper. They are such a dominant team, so much better than the mere mortals that make up the rest of the league, why bother. It is automatically over before it even begins and will continue to be this way until these players are too old to move fast enoung to play -- nothing and no one else can stop them. Watching grass grow is right there in comparison to watching Shaq and his merry men make a mokery of the rest of the NBA. Gray Mule
Guest
Actually I disagree....What has anyone done besides Shaq/Kobe and a shot or two from Horry? It really doesn't matter againest the Nets cause everyone knew they aren't a worthy team compared to the Lakers. Fisher is one of the worst defenders.Parker/Bibby both destroyed him.I can't answer for the Nets series. I don't call a game 7 finals dominant at all....The onyl team they have beaten soundly is the Nets.Portland got sweept, but they sure were not blownout in the games and neither was The Spurs. It was a bad year for the NBA all together in my opinion.
Admin chillzatl Posted June 11, 2002 Admin Report Share Posted June 11, 2002 I am rooting for the lakers to 4peat and even 5peat. I don't really like them and I'm certainly not a fan. But they could make history and I'm all for them to do it. They have to best front court player in the game and the best backcourt player in the game. Two dominant players that together simply can't be stopped. It's interesting watching other teams try and Sacramento really should have done it this year. But experience and attitude prevail and that's what the lakers won on this year.
Guest
In todays weaker NBA in my opinion their is nothing the Lakers can do to become apart of history. It's easy to win when you only face one quality team. The Spurs are Tim Duncan and a bunch of piece of sht players and Portland...well,isn't really a team. And the chances of us EVER making the finals are slim to none.
Guest
IF the NBA was at a high level a team like the Spurs wouldn't make the playoffs. Tony Parker-decent rooke SG:[censored](Smity NOW) SF:[censored](Bowen, above average on d,but can't score or shoot) PF:Duncan C:Declining old fart Robinson Any team that has to beat a weak team like NJ(All other teams in east are weak aswell)in the finalsdoesn't deserve a piece of history. It was a terrible year for the NBA all together from the Detroit/ Boston woeful 40-38....eeerrrrr 66-64 game to NJ making the finals.
Gray Mule
So --- They win. What was the big deal? We all knew that they would. And they will continue to win as long as they have their two stars. The rest are just role players, good roll players, to be sure, but not really star models. How do you stop this man that is a mountain? You can't. And, if you do somehow come up with a plan to stop him you must also stop his all star buddy. If you somehow manage to shut them both down, the rest of the team will have a field day, scoring at will. Some day, these two will be either seperated or become to old to play this game. Until that time, they will remain the champions of the NBA. Only three things will topple this kingdom - 1-Sepeation 2 - old age or 3 - major injuries. Until this happens, get used to the NBA Champion Lakers. Gray Mule
Guest
The Championship doesn't mean as much now.Honestly us winning the title wouldn't feel as good as it would have years ago.The NBA has lost so much of the magic that made it great.I stick around as a hardcore fan hoping one day the magic will return.
