This is why I've always said that Woody was an AVERAGE COACH, not a BAD COACH. He knows what it takes to win. He just has to push the right buttons and make sure people stay on the same page.

We would've never known that he made these guys go pretty hard at each other, in the practices after the Washington game, if not for this article. And the fact that he asked JJ to do more, spurred JJ to have that great game last night. Woody probably gave him the "you're the superstar, and this is what superstars do" speech.

Woody doesn't do everything right, but he isn't totally clueless either.

And what many lose track of is that this team responds positively to him, on the whole. Each player's game has improved under Woody from the time they arrived, possibly excluding Joe. That's impressive considering that none of the current contributors other than Joe and Lue had a clue about the NBA until they got here. In 90% of the games the effort is there. Historically, we lost out on the experience side and the individual confidence that experience brings. But that is all changing now, and Woody should get a lot of the credit.

woody may be a good development coach and good practice coach and good player's coach and good motivation coach, even if we question his rotations and in-game decisions

Woody has shown that when given talent he can develop it (much like John Wooden did years ago at UCLA). I think Woody is in the process of turning things around here. His motivational skills are unquestioned
