MICHAEL REDD, Milwaukee Bucks

Key 2001-02 Stats: 11.4 ppg, .483 FG%, .444 3P%, 21.1 mpg

Analysis: One of the league's most improved players in 2001-02, Redd was automatic from the outside. In limited minutes backing up Ray Allen, Redd was a double-digit scorer, knocking down nearly half his shots and ranking eighth in the NBA in three-point percentage. Still improving at 22 years old, has the talent to be a top sixth man, if not a starter.

LARRY HUGHES, Golden State Warriors

Key 2001-02 Stats: 12.3 ppg, 4.3 apg, 1.55 spg

Analysis: On the verge of stardom three years ago, Hughes had a rough go of it in Golden State, missing 32 games with injury in 2000-01 and getting shifted out of position to point guard in 2001-02. An athletic, slashing scorer and a solid defender, Hughes still has All-Star potential in the right environment and should benefit big-time from a change in scenery.

JIM JACKSON, Miami Heat

2001-02 Stats: 10.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, .442 FG%

Analysis: A former 20 ppg scorer who had fallen so far under the NBA radar that the Miami Heat picked him up as an unsigned free agent a month into the 2001-02 season. Veteran swingman shot a high percentage from the floor and played big minutes off the bench, averaging 33.2 mpg. Settled nicely into role with Miami, ranking third on the team in both scoring and rebounding.

ERICK STRICKLAND, Boston Celtics

Key 2001-02 Stats: 11.7 ppg, 3.1 apg, .434 3FG

Analysis: A defensive specialist off the bench who proved capable of providing an outside scoring punch, Strickland logged several 20-point games in 2001-02. Then, after going virtually unused throughout the Celtics' playoff run, he finally got playing time in Games 4 and 5 against New Jersey, contributing 13.5 ppg. Will be a reliable, consistent role player wherever he signs.

DELL CURRY, Toronto Raptors

Key 2001-02 Stats: 6.4 ppg, .344 3P%, 15.8 mpg

Analysis: Sweet-shooting vet who lives on the perimeter and has made more than 40 percent of his three-point attempts for his career, Curry remains a solid backup even going into his 17th NBA season. Won't offer anything but his outside game, but would be a welcome addition for any post player looking to pass out of a double-team.

OTHERS: Raja Bell, Kendall Gill, Terry Porter

Redd is our man. This is the guy I want. Isn't he a pretty good defender as well? Maybe we trade Dion Glover, not that I don't like Dion but he is injuried goods, and have Michael Redd and Dermarr Johnson battle it out for the starter's job. Micheal Redd's 44%shoooting from 3 land along with Toni and Terry's shooting should free up Rahim to go to work in the Post.

I am more intrigued by Hughes. He can play when given the chance. Match him up with JT in the backcourt (DJ becomes a SF) and you have two guards that play both SG and PG.

With his stock falling in GS I think we could get him cheap. If it wasn't for Jason Richardson coming to town I think the Warriors would have been throwing big bucks at Hughes to stay. Its all about timing.

Hughes is the one that piques my interest too. I think he saw minutes at the 3 in Philly and was a helluva lot more successful there than at the point in GS. With either Hughes at the 2 and Slim at the 3, or vise versa, we'd be pretty tough offensively, with Theo in the starting five and the Newbilizer 6th man, we'd be pretty scray defensively too.
