GST
The reporter said that Glavine's velocity was gone, he only getting into the 70s. There was no way he could be competitive anytime soon.
Bahamut
So the Hawks can't fire a head coach with no offensive scheme, but the Braves can fire a 300+ win, 2-time Cy Young winner, 10-time All-Star, World Series MVP? :white flag:
Moderators AHF Posted June 4, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted June 4, 2009 The Braves have a much better replacement for Glavine already in hand in Tommy Hanson. If Glavine is really throwing in the 70's, that is a terrible sign for him. He hasn't been very good in recent years anyway. So I miss Glavine as a Brave and wish him the very best, but I don't see how this is a bad thing for the team.

T21
I understand that we all want Braves to win and contend... that economics around the game are something that has to be managed within certain ballpark... But this is another bad move on the part of the Braves! It could have been done two months ago... no class at all! If this was done to Francoeur or somebody else, I would completely understand all the bla-bla about the reasons... But you just cannot treat icons like Smoltzie and Glav this way... Premium Member mrhonline Posted June 4, 2009 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 4, 2009 In my book, Glavine wasn't an icon the minute he left for New York. He made it clear that the game was a business, so he really has no case for sympathy.

Bahamut
+ 1 Here's another +1 from me. Icons lose their status when they sign with DIVISION RIVALS!!! :shake_puter: Edited June 4, 2009 by zanarkandaeast
