The Miami Heat could sign free-agent swingman Jerry Stackhouse as early as Saturday, a source familiar with the situation told the Sun Sentinel Friday.

The Heat find themselves with a void in their perimeter rotation due to the thumb injury that has sidelined swingman Mike Miller. The Heat went as far as to research a recent hand injury sustained by Stackhouse, with those concerns allayed.

Stackhouse, 35, finished last season with the Milwaukee Bucks.

NBA teams must reduce rosters to the league-maximum of 15 by Monday's 6 p.m. deadline. The Heat currently is carrying 16 players, which means the addition of Stackhouse would require two cuts.

Other than Haslem and Miller (who is out until the new year) they have a horrible bench

Also they have the worst starting center and pg in the league.
