As a longtime renter, I always have empathy for the "crap" landlords have to put up with, but this lawsuit "smells" like a settlement is in order. Neither party is going to get what they want, just two parties trying to out-petty one another. Jamal's not getting his deposit back (nor should he be fussing over it), is certainly not getting any court fees reimbursed, and the landlady will have to show all the alleged "damage" is not embellishment (do you leave your "valuable" items like shoes and designer blinds in a rented home knowing there may be damage to them?), was not pre-existing, plus is a result of JC1 having three big dogs instead of one.
