I heard Bob and Nique talking about this guy last night and they said it's insurance if there is a lockout or work stoppage of some sort after this season. I guess they figure he's a decent project big that without free agency, they wouldn't have the opportunity to sign otherwise. Kinda weird but doesn't bode well for this looming labor issue.

Yeah I heard them say that too, which makes sense given the amount of other signings we've seen teams make with less than a week left in the season. Washington just signed a D-Leaguer, Utah, SA, Cleveland, a bunch of teams have been adding players and I wasn't really sure as to why they were doing that at this late stage of the game.
