Sounds like Cuban just wants Kobe on the Mavs, but I think the amnesty would be better used on Pau. Clear up Pau's contract, resign Dwight, and then use the extra $20 to build a decent bench. Kobe stands to gross $30 mil from the Lakers next season and could end up with ~$55 mil tied up into 2 players if Dwight is resigned, $75 mil if they retain Pau.

I think that was self-serving on the part of Cuban, who would like to see OJ Mayo / Kobe / Dirk make a run toward the post season. I agree with you that Pau is the player they should amnesty, if they are going to roll with D'antoni as coach. Pau clearly doesn't fit his system.
