Most underrated Eastern Conference team: Atlanta Hawks

Give this team a lifetime achievement award in the underrated category. The Hawks haven't contended for the title in recent years, but they've been a solid playoff team for each of the past six seasons. This season shouldn't be any different even though they lost Josh Smith. His replacement, the sneaky-talented Millsap, might be just as good if not better than Smith if we're to believe the hype from his advanced metrics (regularized adjusted plus-minus considered Millsap a top-10 player last season. He'll certainly play a smarter brand of basketball next toAl Horford, who might be the most underappreciated big in the league.

Like the Jazz, the Hawks are flying under the radar probably because of their budding youth. Rookie point guard Dennis Schröder, who just turned 20, should be a League Pass darling by Thanksgiving and has an outside chance of landing on the All-Rookie first team. He's that good. Throw in the sweet-shooting John Jenkins and the improving Jeff Teague, and the Hawks have plenty of upside. Forget about their 1-6 preseason record. If they grab the fifth seed out East and play spoiler in the first round of the playoffs, it might raise plenty of eyebrows, but not mine.
