Falcons will pick 8th in the draft

One positive for losing today. We get a top-10 pick. I haven't look at this year draft. There is always someone really good that slip. Should be able to get an impact player. Biggest area of need is LB.

LB,DE,OL,DT,and TE just to name a few. But yes, their linebackers are an insult to hot garbage everywhere. There are very few running backs or tight ends in the league that they can cover. They have to upgrade that position in the worst way. Guys like Worrilow and Bartu play special teams on good squads (at best) NOT start in your base defense. And don't get me started on their defensive ends. Dolf doesn't have enough bandwidth for me to talk about that...

Bleacher Report has the Falcons taking Vic Beasley out of Clemson. OLB with massive physical skills and can really get to the QB.

This is the sort of guy they should target, especially if they commit to a 3-4 base defense (which they will). In a base 3-4 we actually have the DEs to play it well if we can get an WOLB  and WILB (we might have this in Shembo).

They have to get a SOLB that can cover the TE.

 

Thus, if the Falcons double down on LBs in the first 2 rounds, i wouldn't mind that at all. Spend the 3rd round pick on a OG or TE. Then best available athelete the rest of the way.

I would probably change out DT with RB or S but overall I agree with your assessment. Our LBs and DEs were pathetic and our OL was not much better.
