Popular Post benhillboy
Y’all know I’m a ratings nerd. Gallo (!) with the gold star versus Philly at 133 to 116. He and the coaching staff just found that perfect niche for him to score fairly easily versus their forwards and help on Embiid. In 180 minutes he shot majestically from three and the line with only 3 turnovers and held his own on the glass. His well-timed help forced Embiid to a much lower shooting percentage than he’s used to. Gallo was the man. OO with the silver star finishing with the lowest defensive rating (117 to 103). Point blank he just chumped Dwight off in terms of winning plays. His positioning is so polished on both ends and he had 1 stinking turnover. When he calls Lemon Pepper his ringtone is “I Like The Way You Move.” Bronze star to Johnny Max (118 to 111). 15 and 10 on spectacular efficiency (.632 TS) on only 17% usage gets it done. The two posters on Embiid were huge even if one came in a loss. Never tried to do too much, helped neutralize Harris, and Korkmaz shouldn’t have even been on the floor with him. Honorable mention to Trae (112 to 113) and Kevin (112 even). Our backcourt that was supposed to be dreadful defensively sustained us. Granted the offense from Philly PGs is shaky at very best but Trae has made huge strides as a team defender and communicator. Had Curry not gone ballistic for most of the series Kevin would be +4 or 5. He just did everything. Edited June 21, 2021 by benhillboy
Popular Post benhillboy
After the wire to wire blowout The Baptist (118/ 113) and Gwu-Tang (144/ 108) have been joined by Lou (138/ 115) Cam (107/ 103) Clint (123/ 111) and Dunn (113/ 107) on the plus side. The numbers for Dunn and Cam are skewed due to playing time of course but they should continue as the Bucks don’t have any elite quickness scorers. Dunn and Cam beat most players to their spots in terms of footwork, we should see a few more 24 second violations which would lower their defensive ratings even further. Only natural-born wing defenders can hover around that 100 mark; Cam and Dunn are indeed that. Lemon Pepper pulled his ratings out the dumps with a flat out miraculous performance considering he was facing Holiday in his FIRST EVER CAREER PLAYOFF START! You can play the odds with Lou and sooner than later he’s gonna be instrumental in a huge win, I don’t sweat his struggle games. Clint killing it on the offensive glass and shooting efficiency with more assists than turnovers whoa! Draymond Capela over here. Nothing stands out in John’s numbers outside the hyper-efficient 2 point shooting. He’s just playing excellent team ball transitioning from end-to-end despite foul trouble and never getting to the line. The star here is the rook tho. He’s dominated his limited minutes all playoffs. There’s no way in hell his offensive rating should be that high with 1 FT attempt and 1 assist. He’s made up the difference and then some with his shooting (rotation leading .775) with only 1 turnover. His rating explodes with the screening, floor running (at times he just magically appears under the basket), and excellent movement. He finds soft spots and pressure releases like a vet. Defensively the stats know he grabs contested rebounds over/ around/ through elite opposing rebounders. I just can’t be happier with his style. I can’t think of a comp he’s so unique but he has a Shawn Marion-like team impact. Edited June 30, 2021 by benhillboy

Last night was really sweet.
