Lou Will deserves to be retired in Atl

Lou Will did not have the best or most expected outing with us in the playoffs but we can't sleep on his intangibles. Lou Will was a second coach on and off the floor and a tremendous reason for OO's success. Even the Onyeka got better as the season went along you could still see Lou coaching him and pointing to positions he needed to be in even down to the last game of the playoffs. It's not easy to play your game and teach someone on the fly during a course of a game but Lou did it naturally.

So many teams fail to repeat magic they've had because they get rid of key guys that bring intangibles to the locker room. On court production isn't the only thing that leads to success. Ask the Heat who got rid of Solo and Jae Crowder. "Expendable/Replaceble" pieces  on the court but intangible pieces in the locker room.

Solomon Hill has earned a spot to be on this team for what he's done all season (before playoffs) and I believe a newly inspired Lou Will with more chemistry can and will still be serviceable for us as well even if it's not seen on the court or only in spot minutes.

We retired Vince Carter which is cool. Now it's time to show a little love to the hometown kid & unlike with Vince Lou isn't going to demand a certain amount of minutes. He's just going to be a great vet presence in the locker room and do his job when called upon like he's been most of his career.

We are deep and once we get this backup point guard in the draft we will be even deeper and Lou can be that steady hand to help it all transition smoothly. The icing on the cake is although our young core wants to win now they still know they have their whole careers ahead of them. With guys like Lou Will, Solomon and Gallo even our young guys are motivated to win now and get a chip for them.

Small intangibles like these are the things that push teams over the edge. Just ask Phoenix with a hungry Chris Paul and a team full of young guys who want to help him win like he's helped them.

I know Lou may not be what he was but he has a style of game that has longevity and he still has love for the game and that hunger for a chip. He knows he might've let one get away but he's also more comfortable with the team and still knows/sees their potential. Instead of looking for new vets to underwhelm (see Rondo) why don't we keep one that we know is serviceable, fits with the team,  homegrown and can help us grow on and off the court?

With a solid rookie PG, Skylar Mays, Kevin, Bogi, Cam we have guys that can bring the ball up the court as backup. Lou would be that steady hand and mentor.
