Guest
Over the past few weeks i've been reading everyone's messages about what trades should be made, who should play what position, and even whether or not JT is a better person than AI. I think you all have had some pretty interesting ideas, I haven't agreed with all of them, but there still interesting all the same. Here's my take on the Hawks though, DON'T CHANGE A THING!! Why do I believe we shouldn't change anything, simple.......The Eastern Conf sucks (pardon my French)!!! Really though, if the Hawks stay healthy aren't they in the same boat as the Bucks, Hornets, Nets, and Toronto. Think about it, the year before last saw the Sixers go to the Finals...i'm not knocking the Sixers but come on man, these guys are a one man team and that guy (my favorite player Allen Iverson) was banged for over half of that year. We've got a future all star in JT, a current all star in Reef, a past all star in Theo, and a diamond in the rough in DJ. Let's stop screwing with the lineup and start using what we have...remember, right now where good (at least on paper) and the rest of the conference is descent at best. Hawksfreak
Thats the spirit we definiltly have the talent to do it! I think we got a big shot!
BlackHawkDown
I commend you on your spirit but you underestimate the competition. The East is weaker than the West. But that doesn't mean any hack team can come along and win it. I know you want to win badly, but what I ask. 45 games? a 2nd round berth? If we start winning now and dont make any move we are doomed to more mediocrity. Honestly I find a 5 win team with upside more intersting than a 45 win team full of second tier hacks. Guest
Well the east has got better. We aren't adding Theo to the same conference as last year. This year the Bucks/Knicks/Heat/Boston/ Bulls will all be better.I just realized how much we screw up going for a 50-50 second half record instead of getting a lottery pick to add to a talent challenged team.Is that 50-50 record really something the team can be proud of? IF we had: Terry Johnson Bulter or Woods SAR Ratliff That is a team with a good starting lineup for years to come and I would have suggested us try and win this year with that lineup. But we have that big hole at SF even with Ira you can't expect to win long term. You look at the Indiana/Bulls/Warriors/Clippers/Kings/Mavs/Memphis(Probably will get moved to east)and a new Charlotte team and you have teams that have ALOT of upside. These are the teams that are going to rule the NBA after the Lakers are gone. We aren't alone by any part!Teams like Detroit/Nets/Knicks/Bucks will not be able to handle these teams either. When they fully develop do you expect us to be able to handle a team like Chicago or Indiana? I'm trying to think long term as even have a good team for years and not get surpassed by so many teams.Perhaps we can win as many as 45 games next year...What about in 3 years?Teams are finally starting to regroup from all the expansion of the mid 90's.The list of young TALENTED teams are growing because 3 years ago the Kings looked like the only team with a bright future..but now the Clippers/Memphis/Bulls/ Rockets/Indiana are all YOUNG and extremely talented teams. And Denver will be joining them shortly. The NBA is becoming talented again as more of young talented teams are increasing...3 years ago only the Kings had all the young talent...Now it is spreading throughout alot of teams. "and a diamond in the rough in DJ." How can this be?He was the 6th pick in the draft. We need to find away to add a good player to this team WITHOUT giving up JT/SAR/Theo.Sadly the team doesn't realize what a 50-50 record costed them. BlackHawkDown
Man that was a great post HotlantaDude. That 50 50 crap hurt us a lot. Jesus. 1. It saved Lon's Job 2. We lost pick 1 - 4, which could have yielded Battier or Odom in a trade. We are hyped over playing .500 ball that is sick, have our expectations fallen that much. We gave up havin 3 picks next year to only 2 just to get DD. Big mistake. And if we make the playoffs next offseason we will have 2 picks neither very high. We need to work toward building a powerhouse. We will never get any big name FAs because everyone in the league knows the Hawks don't want to win big. This is what we do 1st --- lockup JT, resign Dion for cheap. 2nd LOSE-this playoff crap it pointless right now. 3rd Build Market for Kukoc/Rattle/Hendu -- These 3 will account for nearly 28 mill in salay next season they HAVE TO GO. Make the Nazr/Miller trade happen. The to do list goes on but I will save it for later PS COMING SOON THE BLACKHAWKDOWN TOP 25 BHD MOVIE PICK: Nothin' 2 Lose starring Brian Hooks check it out
