  1. Quote: could we possible have 2 top 15 picks? only if we're bad enough to get a top 3 pick, which is protected from phx for jj, and if indy's pick lands between 11-15, as their pick is protected through the top 10. with oden being hurt so far this year, he may not even enter the '07 draft.
  2. i'm sorry to see him pass up louisville and ky. there has lately been a little chatter about some kinks in his armor, though when a player is talked about so much, and so young, he's bound to have some ups and downs once he's out there publicly. if he's going to college next year, then he wouldn't be available to draft until '08. unless the hawks are lucky enough (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) and get a top 3 pick, i hope we get ron steele, pg from alabama. he projects to go between 10-20, which is where the pacer's pick should be. he's solid, and should be more ready to play sooner than a younger oj drafted a year later. taking steele this year would seem like perfect timing for drafting someone to take over for speedy once his contract is up. oj does seem exciting, though, and has more star player potential than ron steele. i just think timing and draft order wise, ron would be a better or more likely senario. if the hawks are bad enough to get a top 3 pick in '07 (and get a big man), and are bad enough to be in position to get oj mayo the following year, then we would be in a sad, sad state. who knows though--both players could bomb this year and some unknown guard from a mid major could end up being the flavor of the month in this draft or the next.
  3. yeah, i'm too cheap for that right now. maybe after the holidays. besides, it's much more interesting when the game keeps flipping back and forth between the hawks and high school wrestling!
  4. just looking at the box, looks like jj and tlue and chillz did their part. josh smith.......ahhh, ups and downs of youth. kid needs to stay late after practice. 1 for 12, that's just sad. i wouldn't expect huge numbers for every game, but to only make one 3 and one ft--nm.
  5. for the same reason we started royal last year, for whatever that was.
  6. has anyone been having trouble with the 790 the zone listen live? last couple games i've tried listening to, the media player window opens, i get the annoying lee corso ad, then it just freezes and won't play the live feed. anyone know if there is some sort of black-out going on? frustrating.
  7. link how quickly the hawks are gaining a little respect. sports illustrated's power rankings have the hawks going from 25 up to 13 this week. the season is still so young, but the positive writings on them this past week has been nice. given the hawks youth (still the youngest nba team by over three years!), and their new found depth, hopefully they'll press and run on their opponents enough to wear out them out and frustrate the p!ss out of them--all season long. let's savor these moments while they're here...
  8. Quote: Walter may never come back to this board again. he has been rather quiet lately.... i'm sure we'll hear more from him again once the hawks begin to lose a few more games.
  9. Quote: the teams we've played havent been snoozing and really tried to win and couldnt.. agreed, which has made our wins that much better...how much better does it feel to have a team no one expected to do anything go 4-1, than to have a team considered a likely title contender that's 1-4 or 1-5 (like dallas and phoenix)? man--where's that phoenix fan that's been chiming in on the squawk from time to time? funny we haven't heard from him lately.
  10. Quote: It's been a long time since we've won more than 3 straight. IF I were guessing, I'd say at least 6 years... I think the whole franchise feels the excitement. I still would like to see us play some of these other teams. Right now, it seems like teams like Washington, GS, and Utah play a game that is on a level above ours... I've been surveying.. And strangely enough, I think we play on a level above: Miami, Boston, Indy, and Chicago... Is it that the playoffs will be turned upside down?? it's been 7 1/2 years since they've been 3 over .500. it's a long season, though. i would suspect the "playoff caliber" teams take more of the shaq approach--do just enough to get by and save your body for the playoffs. not to take anything away from what the hawks are doing, i'm proud of how they're playing. i think they need to get as many w's as they can while other teams are still snoozing. they all add up in the end, and they could come back to surprise some folks by the end of the season.
  11. i know that that wasn't "abc" responding, but some lone individual that works for them, but it was pretty damn funny. i'm not going to say anything either way regarding the subject of gay marriage, but i would hope that this man would know the difference between a fully grown, consenting, adult agreeing to marry someone of the same sex, and a cocker spaniel's understanding and consent to "marrying" a human adult.
  12. i got to go to a sneak preview of the new "tenacious d - the pick of destiny" movie that's coming out soon last night. funny shyt. if you like sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll (without much sex), check it out. kind of like an updated version of the blues brothers. opening scene is of jack black's childhood is terrific. i don't know who played the kid version of him, but it's perfect. meatloaf plays his dad. fun movie.
  13. keep stuffin' those pastries and truffels, my fine, french friend!
  14. if there was any doubt before, after tonight there should be none.
  15. it's funny you mention the kentucky colonels. living in louisville for a couple years now, and they've been trying all kinds of ways to bring them back. a couple years ago when the hornets moved, they tried getting them here, as the kentucky colonels, with kfc paying for an arena called "the bucket". it would all fit too perfectly. a year or so ago they had a new aba team and they named them the colonels, but that went bust. there's a huge deal with a new downtown arena being built, and i'm hoping they'll at least get an nbdl team when they expand that league. i know stern eventually wants each nba team to have their own minor team, and this is a minor league city. anyway, just a piece of what's happening here. continue on.

    so...

yes, and i did write myself in on the ballet a couple times. i always say, "the only person who believes in everything that i do, is me (most of the time)." today is also quite a happy day for me. i finally got broadband internet and digital cable. i now have fsn ohio, fsn south, and tbs to catch many games for all my atl & cincinnati teams. oh joy, oh joy, oh joy.
  17. excellent job, fellas. thank you.
  18. Quote: Quote: Quote: They are really trying to get that 'cool' nickname to stick. I think its a great point that this year its clear where the offense runs. This is Joe's team. We haven't had that in a while. It took them one horrible game to realize they weren't playing the way they should. Last year it would have taken 10. that "cool" nickname starts getting on my nerves about half way through the article. If I'm not mistaken, that's the nickname used in the team's intro vid. I'm not to thrilled either... Joe Johnson linked to a debunked cig character. That just seems wrong. i believe joe cool originally came from a nickname of snoopy (wearing sunglasses) from the peanuts cartoon, not from camel cigarettes. neither of whom are exactly ideal associations you want to make with such an athlete, though.
  19. aren't you in germany, dawg? hawks don't play any overseas away games!
  20. Quote: It was kind of surprising to see how much he still has left in the tank. lol, it's not like he's been burning up his fuel on the court the past few years. i'd hope he has something left in the tank. i'm not trying to be an @ss, though, i know what your saying. it kind of reminds me a little of my boy ken griffey jr. just one bad break after another, all the while they're getting older by the day.
  21. it's been since nov. 2002 when they were 6-5. wow, so sad--yet so happy at the present moment. it's only 3 games, but it's still so nice.
  22. it matters to me....he's on my fantasy team!!
  23. Quote: Cmon, don't be abysmally pessimistic. Even with our lowly franchise plenty of people want a chance to show what they can do, an opportunity. Contrary to current mood on this board we do have players capable of winning in this league, and a lot of assistants and former coaches would love an opportunity to win with our franchise. i was trying to be more comicly pessimistic than abysmally pessimistic. i know there would be some folks willing to step up, but no big names, just someone more than likely looking for their first shot. it would be difficult for anyone, though, to step in after the season has already begun, knowing that your job could only last as little as a few months depending on the legal battle. it would be surprising if someone who already has a job now would leave it for something on such shaky ground, regardless of it being a head coaching job. i wouldn't be surprised if woody got let go this season and herb brown or one of the other assists gets promoted for the remainder of the season.
