    NBA Draft 2007

pf/c if the pick is top 3, pg if the pick after 10. this draft seems fairly heavy in bigs, but if ten other teams get a better big ahead of you, then get the best point in the draft that should still be around after 10.
  3. you know, doug johnson looked pretty good the first year vick missed time with an injury, going 4-1. yeah, he was great, so great that the following year the falcons were like 1-11 without vick. one half does not make a career. vick's not the greatest qb, but that doesn't mean that schaub is better. who do you think would be picked up first in a draft tomorrow? unless you're the texans, i think vick would be picked before schaub. i think it comes down to coaching as much as anything. i'm surpised people aren't b!tching as much about the falcons getting vick instead of ladanian thomlinson and philip rivers like they have about the hawks getting marvin instead of chris paul.
  4. this one's pretty good, too. and it's not from 3 years ago, diesel.
  5. Quote: But Marvin is too young to give up for a guy in Andre whose already 30. andre will still be playing at a top level for the remaining 3 years of his contract. he's 30, not 38. i was really really hoping that we could've gotten miller from denver back when we were shopping al harrington and the nuggets were biting. however, we didn't get him then, so i seriously doubt we'll get him now. i honestly believe we have absolutely zero chance of trading for, or signing, any big time player until the final court ruling is in the books. since the jj thing blew everything up, who have we gotten? speedy, lo wright, and other cast offs. it's fine to try and find diamonds in the rough, but you can't build a whole team with them. if you're lucky, MAYBE 1 out of 4 or 5 rejects could turn around and be a major contributer to your team (like zaza). everyone misses something every now and then (see diaw), but the majority of the time, there is a reason a player is given his walking papers or not offered much from his team (lo wright). as much as i want andre miller here, there is no way it will happen. it makes perfect sense to get him, and it will only cost us a little more in salary (but still under the cap), but unfortunately, that is exactly why we won't get him--common sense and cash.
  6. Quote: Besides We'd just end up with the Atlanta Supersonics within 2 years think again. the sonics new owners are from oklahoma city. they are waiting for the season to end and the hornets to return to new orleans for good before they relocate the sonics to their hometown (though they publicly haven't admitted as much). they've wetted the locals' appitite, and soon they'll get to feed the hungry, too (and make some $$). think it was any coincidence the nba moved the hornets to okc after katrina, then the sonics get sold to a group from there? they were testing the market, man.
  7. man, f* belkin. no, i don't know exactly everything that has been going on with the owners (no one but themselves and their lawyers do), but it seems that he has been doing some serious underhanded moves that hold back the team. there are serious limitations to what the spirit can do while dealing with the dark lord, and what's the point in firing the gm and coach until everything is resolved? no one will want to come in to this situation under the current uncertainty. anyone who would, wouldn't be enough of an improvement, i can tell you that. granted, once the absolute final court ruling is given out, i wouldn't mind too much if the bk and woody are shown the door (especially woody), but until that happens, then what's the point? change for change's sake? the more discontinuty you have among the organization, the harder it is on players and the team. personally, i feel that either of them could likely be running the team pretty cheap, they needed each other to buy the teams in the first place.
  8. i don't know how he could get missed. judging from some various mocks i've see, he could be available around the time our indy pick comes up (15ish?). he's at the top of my wish list for the hawks to draft and groom to take over from speedy in a couple years. unless we get a high pick (in the top 5) and can get a serious, proven big, then i hope we get steele as our point for the future. he's def one of the best, if not the best all around, points in the upcoming draft.
  9. that'd be a good trade for us, but the lakers would never do it. phil loves lue, but probably not that much. i like farmar a lot. did you see this somewhere, or are you just pulling it out of the air?
  10. how did i miss this post? i'd lean towards alba, but i wouldn't kick either out of the bed for eatin' crackers. btw, linda carter was the first woman i ever fell in love with.
  11. these are too damn funny. virgin ears should avoid the barney clip. hey ya charlie brown gangsta barney enjoy.
  12. i personally would like to see a.i. in red and yellow, though i don't think there is anyway it will happen. my guess is something like ai to indy for stephen jax and tinsley. they are ready to shake up their team as bad as the sixers are.
  13. i'm pretty sure cenk akyol is a point guard. wonder if he'll ever make over the pond.
  14. it's amazing the man simultaniously holds the record for the most wins and the most losses for an nba coach.
  15. and i forgot to mention...with jordan now in the mix, they may pass on oden to reach for the next kwame brown!
  16. if rob johnson continues down "the donald sterling path" with the bobcats, then we won't have to worry about seeing that front line for too long.
  17. i was just curious to see what websites other squawkers prefer to peruse for their news and rumors fix. for main sports info, i generally prefer si.com. i used to mainly go to espn, but their writers really started to annoy me, they make you pay for nearly anything not off the ap wire ("insider" subscription), and their site often seems to have bugs in it (trying to cram too much on each page, maybe?). for rumor stuff, i like hoopshype and sometimes insidehoops. prosportsdaily is also pretty good-it's all just newspaper articles, but it's good to be able to pull up stuff when other markets are making mention of your teams. i know a lot of folks seem to like realgm, but i've found them to be disappointing. i remember reading an article on fantasy football "who to start/who to bench", and it had suggested starting jay feely with the falcons since they were playing at home in the dome. that would've been great had feely not been playing the past 8 games for the giants at that point. they also mentioned peter warrick of the bengals as a nice option to start at wr, even though the bengals released him before the season started and he was still looking for a team at that time. their info and rumors always has seemed a little suspect to me.
  18. glad he's on my fantasy team!
  19. i am going to be a conscientious objector and refrain from participating in this retarded poll (like so many in the past). i really think walter is putting out so much of this bk-phobia hate propaganda to mask his actual attraction towards bk that he feels deep inside of himself. go ahead, walter, let it out. we won't judge you.
  20. The Link here's a nice write up on jj by lang whitaker on sports illustrated's site. thank goodness for at least one atlanta homer writing for a national media outlet. he's about the only one i've ever seen write about the hawks, and on more than one occation. my apologies if this has already been posted, but i hadn't seen it yet.
  21. good post, godawg. i would also like to add that i think if anyone thinks we're playing 3 on 5 on offense, then you would also have to say that the majority of the time the other team is playing 3 on 5 when they're on offense. not many teams have solid offensive contributers 1-5. someone will almost always have to take a backseat.
  22. it could go either way. we've all seen how the hawks reacted last season with the loss of such a close compadre. perhaps jason (r.i.p.) was too close to deal with and the wolverines will be able draw inspiration from schembechler's life. i just hope michigan wins because thus far, all anyone has talked about is who ohio state will play in the championship once michigan suffers their first loss, as if there really is no other outcome. it annoys me to no end when people put the cart before the horse, and i love it whenever it comes back to bite them in the @ss.
  23. i know barkley has said that he'd like to coach an nba team. sometimes i wonder if he's put some of what he says out there to help grease the skids for an opportunity he sees as being available soon.
  24. what, no gsuteke question posted in the chat? that's a change.
  25. Quote: did you see him play? he's really quick and knows how to get to the basket and draw contact. i didn't see him. did he seem like a point, or did he seem more like a 2 guard playing point? personally, i hope billy goes for a point in this draft. we got two pf/c in the last one, and i think it'd be benificial to get a point to groom under speedy for the last 2 years of his contract before taking over. i know i've espoused over ron steele plenty on this sight, it's almost sickening. he may not be the flashiest player, but he carried alabama last year. he would be a good pick up around 15, i think.
