  1. Actually, a half assed whiteout where half the seats are empty at tip and the arena is only 3/4 full even with a "sellout" is worse.
  2. Got mine for Saturday! Two tickets for $27 each for some chick-fil-a deal in section 311, Row R. I didn't want to pay Ticketmaster fees for the $25 tickets, so calling Lauren was the way to go to save $10. The seats I got didn't show up on the little seat selection chart if you go through the $25 deal, so it definitely wouldn't hurt to call and see what they have.
  3. Do we know what days the games will be yet? edit: Didn't see your thread JackB1. I want to get some tickets, but I guess we might have to wait till the playoffs are set till we know what days the games are.
  4. Basketball-Reference says it is true. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsjo02.html
  5. Yeah, I got a response back about who the comparables were for the two players. Manu when healthy is being compared to some great players. There just aren't that many guards that have played at as high a level as Manu has at his age, so he gets compared to some really good ones. Johnson: Jamal Mashburn Steve Smith Purvis Short Michael Finley Jalen Rose Jerry Stackhouse Marques Johnson Hedo Turkoglu Mark Aguirre Glenn Robinson Ginobili: Clyde Drexler Scottie Pippen Darrell Armstrong Jason Kidd Gary Payton Jeff Hornacek Sam Cassell Chris Mullin Michael Jordan Mookie Blaylock
  6. Haha, thanks, I will check it out. That's what I get for going on a cruise for 5 days with no internet.
  7. Ah, sorry, I didn't notice the previous post. It was a fan-site import from Hoopinion. I sent an email to them asking who Manu is considered similar to (I'm guessing somehow he is similar to Michael Jordan or something) so maybe we can have some more context. The Bulls blog post that was linked at the end of my post is pretty interesting too though, if you have time to check it out, since it focuses only on SG's.
  8. I saw this article on Basketball Prospectus about the top free agents for 2010 and what their statistical projections say about expected production for the first 3 years of their contract. http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=945 They have Joe Johnson at the bottom of the second tier of free agents. They project players stats based on similar players at similar ages to create projected WARP values for each player for the next 3 years. WARP is "Wins Above Replacement Player", based on performance and playing time, the wins a player has created as compared to a replacement-level player seeing the same minutes. Player Tm Stat Age 2011 2012 2013 Tot ----------------------------------------------------------- Manu Ginobili sas UFA 32.7 11.6 9.5 5.7 26.7 Amare Stoudemire phx UFA 27.4 6.7 5.9 4.1 16.7 David Lee nyk UFA 27.0 6.3 6.2 4.1 16.6 Rudy Gay mem RFA 23.7 4.7 4.5 5.1 14.3 Dirk Nowitzki dal UFA 31.8 7.1 3.9 2.5 13.5 Paul Pierce bos UFA 32.5 4.3 3.9 3.5 11.7 Carlos Boozer uta UFA 28.4 6.8 3.1 1.0 10.9 Joe Johnson atl UFA 28.8 3.6 2.5 0.9 7.1 [/code] They only mention two of Joe's comparable players, Steve Smith and Jalen Rose, and those were the best two comparable players. Another similar linked from the Basketball Prospectus one focuses on Joe specifically (it's from a Bulls blog) and compares him to Michael Finley a lot. http://www.blogabull.com/2010/2/8/1300945/what-can-we-expect-from-joe-johnson This is probably going to be of more interest at the end of the season, but I will probably lose track of these articles if I don't post them now.
  9. No, but league rules state that you are only allowed to have one player with a name starting with 'Z' per team.
  10. I don't know if midway is involved, but EA is making an NBA Jam game. They let you vote on who the 3 players for each team should be. The voting changes every week. http://nba-jam.easports.com/home.action Check this out :)
  11. I might be a little mad, but only because I'm going to the game and I want a win! I'm not on the "best in the east" bandwagon yet. If we are in first at the all-star break, then I'll be on.
  12. I wish more games started at 7:30 or 8:00. I get off work at 7:00pm most nights and it takes me at least 30 minutes to take MARTA downtown. I'm planning to get off a little early tomorrow and go to the Miami game, but I can't do that as much as I'd like.
  13. I just bought 2 for section 211 row J. Thanks for setting this up, discounted and no service fees is great!
  14. Yeah, I'm confused how that is running his mouth. He said he wouldn't mind coming back but they didn't really get anywhere with negotiations and he's tired of hardball. What's the big deal?

    New Car

I'm with you man. I have a 97 Jetta and an 84 Scirocco. The 2.0L Jetta's engine has been rock solid, but the window regulators are garbage and the molding on the doors has fallen off. I loved the way it drove and the interior when I got it though. After 8 years of neglect, the Jetta is falling apart though because I haven't taken care of it much besides absolute necessities. I've been looking to get a 97 or 98 BMW M3 sedan as a replacement, but I have also been thinking about a VW GTI or GLI, or used Audi A3.
  16. Zaza will be back. All hail King Zaza!
  17. I agree. Bass is not above average at rebounding. He is the offensive version of Paul Milsap. Where Milsap is good at rebounding and average at scoring, Bass is good at scoring and average at rebounding. Undersized but gives good effort, I wouldn't mind him on the Hawks, but I would rather have someone who plays defense and rebounds.

    David Lee

Lee is an offensive player, but it is mostly off pick and rolls going to the basket and garbage points. His jumper is alright, but he doesn't really have a post up game. He is obviously a very good rebounder, but he played in a fast paced offense with a lot of shooters, so his stats are inflated similar to Shaun Marion's. He gives 100% effort but his defense still is very average or even below. I think Marvin is a more well rounded player and is cheaper. Unless we had an uptempo offense, I would rather keep Marvin.
  19. I don't eat fast food burgers, but I love the Vortex. Ragin Cajun for the win. I need to try this Holeman & Finch though. Who can wait till 10pm to eat dinner though? I'll have to plan ahead for that one.
  20. Yeah, I'm surprised there hasn't been any interest in Anderson Varejao. I'd take him resigned for Chilldress.
  21. I hope we are very careful with what we offer to Gortat. I think he is a more athletic defensive version of Zaza.
  22. I can't understand what kind of criteria this guy is using. How is Paul Millsap so high and Brandon Bass so low? They are almost equal except Millsap is a bit better rebounder and has gotten more minutes.
  23. Josh is way more stable than Amare. Josh is emotional on the court, but you don't hear anything about him having issues with teammates or off the court. Amare has had like 4 agents in 4 years and wants to be the main man.
  24. The sad part is that Amare will be awesome this year or Josh will suck and someone post a thread next offseason "The Hawks could have traded Josh for Amare and didn't do it, this GM/Ownership/Coach are morons" all based on some rumor on a messageboard.
