  1. Quote: Quote: You really have to toss the first 4 WC games - then yes - Bibby has a "slightly above .500 average with our team. So just count the games against poor competition in the Eastern conference. O.K. I see how this goes. Come on, you know Bibby's foot was hurt, and hadn't played with his new team before. Do you really think the first games were representative of how well he could play?
  2. 27 years old, grew up in the country in Micanopy, Florida (1 exit south of Gainesville and home of Cafe Risque). I've been a Gator since birth and went to school there, graduated in 2003 with a Computer Engineering degree and have been in Atlanta since then. Moved up here to be with my soon to be wife (May 3rd! All this wedding stuff is keeping me from going to any playoff games!). I am working for a Litigation Support company organizing electronic documents for lawyers. Basketball has always been my favorite sport, but I never got into any pro teams in Florida, but once I moved here, I decided to start following the Hawks. They were local, have players I like, games are cheap, and I always have a good time watching them. Being a Gator fan, I'm glad we drafting Al, and he has been a great addition to the team. I'm glad they've made the playoffs, particularly for you guys who have been waiting so long, I just hope they can keep this momentum going (with a new coach, I hope) into next year and beyond.
  3. Quote: Others may disagree but the incredulous tone in his voice when he is being asked if he can understand why people think his team should have done better is surprising to me. If you listen to the tone of his voice he is basically saying "Who thinks this team was talented enought to win more than 37 games, give me a break." I agree. My beef with Woody here is that he thinks that the talent on this team is a 37 win team. I think they are better than that, and with a different coach, they would have been .500 or better.
  4. Awesome video! Thanks for making that, I'm sure it took a lot of work. The only thing I would change is to make the intro stuff a little shorter, but I like how you had sections about individual players and stuff. Very cool!
  5. Someone sitting next to me at the game yesterday said he thought Acies wrist was hurt again, and he even had some sort of brace on it or something. I couldn't see him very clearly so I couldn't tell, has anyone seen/heard this?
  6. Horford lives in Smyrna huh. I lived there for a year.
  7. Quote: Law is garbage. Was he garbage in the first half?
  8. Quote: Only Law could lead the offense to lose a 37 point lead. Put Salim in the effin game. Come on, you're going to blame that on Law? No one was moving at all on offense. He's a rookie PG, he needs help, he isn't going to create offense by himself at this point. That doesn't mean he is garbage.
  9. Quote: Childress had two absolutely huge rebounds in the last few minutes, too. Yeah, he out-jumped two Chicago big men for one, and then stole one off Grey's hand a minute later.
  10. Huge shot by JJ over three guys. Then he and Horford make a good defensive play trapping Duhon or Gordon and forcing a bad pass. I don't know what that offensive posession was with JJ just dribbling the click out and shooting a bad 3.
  11. Quote: Horford = #10 Smith = # 3 Noccioni's dunk at #1 is pretty sick too.
  12. Quote: Woody's play was changed he said. He said he had nothing to do with it. Why is he still the coach then? Woody DID call the alley-oop to Josh Smith the play before that though, which was a great call.
  13. Quote: I find it interesting that you automatically choose the side of Sekou when I would bet you that the majority of "misquotes" in print are actually misquotes. As it stands right now it's a misquote until Sekou proves otherwise. We'll see if he really stands behind his story or not. Misquotes are usually small differences between what the person said and what got written. This is more than a small difference. That's why I believe Sekou. Plus, Sekou has no motive to "misquote" anyone, but the ownership does have a reason to take back what they said.
  14. Quote: Quote: We finally have a shot to start winning some ball games and get on the right track and Sekou Smith releases an article like this. Unbelievable how bad the luck of this city is. Unbelievable oh please.he released another article relating to posts like that. One win and u think they're gonna win 10 straight or something.please. Yeah, I'm listening to 3D After Dark on 790 and there are still people saying "be patient, they can still make the playoffs". WHO CARES if they make the playoffs at 70% of their potential? This team will NOT play to their potential with Woody as coach. They might play hard, but that's it, their defense might be okay, they won't have the offensive X-O's, substitution patterns and other coaching they need. This is obvious after 3 years. Woodson is a joke and it is ridiculous that people don't see this.
  15. Childress is the opposite of the 3 point shooting big man. He plays the baseline and inside on offense but defends the perimiter.
  16. Quote: he gave us last year as a starter or the 12/8 he gave us the year before? He did that in only 28 mpg. His 47% shooting percentage wasn't great for a Center but it was a heck of a lot better than the 39% he is shooting now. Again, I am not advocating that we start Zaza but it is something to consider if it might get him going again. He has REALLY sucked this year and he is simply not THIS bad of a player. Yeah, I think this is definitely an interesting idea. Because if starting Zaza got him back to where he would give that 12/8, it would probably be worth the hit to Al's ego that he would be the "backup" even though Al would be getting the same amount of minutes.
  17. Quote: They are all ugly. i learned everything I needed about tattoos when I had to give blood to a family member that was having surgery. They asked: Have you ever had a tattoo? No thanks. I think they ask about ear piercings too. I'm pretty sure they are trying to determine if there is a possibility you have a disease that is in a stage that can't be tested for. Apparently HIV and hepatitis can't be tested for in its early stages, so they want to make sure you haven't gotten a tattoo or piercing in the last 6 months.
  18. Quote: I want to see all Hawks players excel, including Salim. But going 0 for 3 taking good shots within the offensive flow is not what has happened this season. In the games I've watched (which is virtually all of them), it's been more like 0 for 4 or 5 with shots taken early in the shot clock without even attempting to involve anyone else in the flow of the offense. If he had been hot, and making even those bad shots, I guess we could have lived with it, but when he's missing those bad shots, he has to come out - - quickly. It's pretty frustrating to be another teammate on the floor when the chucking is going on. I'm with you yardbird. I don't have anything against Salim's personality or work ethic or anything, I just know what I see when he comes in the game, and I have been seeing the same thing as you. Salim has been too anxious to get his shot off any time he has a clean look at the basket, whether it is in the flow of the offense or not. I hope he continues playing more like he did last night, and letting the game come to him a little instead of forcing it.
  19. Quote: The thing I love about Chill's game is he has been going inside fearlessly. Goes to the floor a lot, but is not afraid to take it to the hole . . . . something you NEVER SEE Marvin do. He's become one dimensional. Jump shooter and I think that hurts his game. I would think . . . . maybe hoping . . . . that it is a matter of developing his game more. He has disappeared a lot for long periods over the last several games. Yeah, I've been seeing this also. Childress finishes around the basket extremely well on fast breaks or if he gets the ball when he cuts or off rebounds. I think that skillset is more unique in the NBA than Marvin's spot up jumpshooting and ability to clumsily drive to the hoop and get fouled/offensive foul someone. That's why I was in favor of trading Marvin for Mike Miller and Lowrey.
  20. Quote: I already told you guys we are doomed as long as that Widespread Panic banner hangs at Philips Actually, I noticed it wasn't up there when I went the Cavs game a few weeks ago. Maybe I looked in the wrong place though.
  21. Found this earlier. I thought Shaq would be able to do better than this.
  22. It works for me! I like the Horford picture when you logon, and it looks really cool if you give the chat windows a dark grey background
  23. Quote: do ones that are worth more have more value Kind of. Having a big expiring contract can be useful in trades for other players that have big contracts (think Kwame for Gasol). It's harder to make trades with lots of small expiring contracts because you have to have roster spots available for the new players. That's why the Kings had to waive two players to do the trade with us. Small contracts give you better flexibility though so you can deal them or keep them to free cap space for yourself. The reason expiring contracts are "worth" anything is because it means the team that lets the contract expire will open up a lot of cap space. Of course, having a player with a big contract isn't a good thing until you are trying to free up cap space.
  24. Quote: If he is in a starting lineup perhaps he could bring back the intensity he showed in college. That heart he showed was the biggest thing missing from his game That's my biggest issue with Shelden. I can remember very few times where he chased down the ball. He just stood there under the basket, if the ball came to him, he got it, if it didn't, he just stood there. I just never saw any fire from him that made me think he wanted to win the game. I hope he can get that back in Sacramento, but if he doesn't, their fans who remember how he played at Duke are going to be disappointed.
