  1. He was benched for playing like crap IMO. We gave him some chances, but he was playing like the worst player on the court far too often and it was time for the kid to watch from the sidelines.
  2. People didn't know much about Sap because he played in Utah, but he has being doing this forever.
  3. benhillboy needs to make a thread about how great Joe Johnson is. Dude's been on a tear since the anti-joe tirade. We need to reverse the joo-joo.
  4. A must win. Every time we play Brooklyn it should be like our super bowl lol
  5. So it's early enough to judge Ferry, but not Bud??? how does that work? Anyhoo, my comment is based off of the observation that we look more polished in these less than 40 games than we did after 5 years with Woodson. Under Woodson, and to a lesser extent Drew I was constantly yelling at the TV as I watched players stand around off ball, dribble the ball for over 8 seconds without making a move, switch on defense non stop and for no reason (the Knicks are absolutely comical this year on how they are switching btw... grantland wrote an entire article highlighting how ridiculous their defense has been). This year all of those things are almost completely gone. In addition to the personal eye test, virtually every opposing commentator, journalist (the ones who decide to pay attention to us) and opposing coaches mention how well we move the ball and how good our players execute, and they almost always mention Bud and how impressive he has been for a rookie coach --- Outside of the graphic showing the improvement in the win column, I can't remember teams ever saying anything specifically positive about Woodson, and often remember opposing commentators deriding our style of play, to the point of literally insulting us in game. Before the Horford injury this team was taking off big time and those 4-5 games where we were lighing it up were the best team basketball I've seen probably ever for this team. Now with limited talent on the squad, the overall results this year will probably not be as good as with Woodson and Drew during their best years, but it won't be because of Bud. Tell you what, find me a single article about the Hawks during the Woodson/Drew era that compliments our in game strategy and execution the way this one does and I'll give you this argument: http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-131223/daily-dime-heat-hold-spurs-hawks Most telling part about how much a great job Bud has done this year is this quote IMO: "It took a do-it-all effort from LeBron because, well, the Hawks played Spurs basketball almost better than the Spurs."
  6. He can say what he wants but it isn't up to him, I guarantee you Houston would rather have the guy rot at the end of the bench than give him away to a team because he made them do it. Additionally why would we want a guy who only wants to play on such terms? More than likely it means we may cut one of Cartier Martin or Jared Cunningham.
  7. Getting GS in the second of a back to back plus at home gives us a fighting chance. Hopefully we can steal this one. Teague needs to be relentless today on offense and put pressure on Curry on that end of the floor. We'll need both Teague and Millsap to play like stars tonight.
  8. Not sure what Turk being Asik's idol will help us land Asik. Asik is at the mercy of trades, and has no say on where he will go. Is he a FA next year?
  9. Knicks also beat Spurs. Sometimes bad teams can beat great teams. (especially when said great team relies on 30% of their offense from a single player who was out for long stretches due to fouls)... The only thing impressive about Brooklyn last night was Deron making a bunch of threes. I don't see him scoring 30 a game for the rest of the year, though. If PP and Joe start turning it around then I'll start to worry.
  10. Ferry is only in his second season here and is building a foundation with coach Bud, who BTW is easily the best coach we've had since Lenny Wilkins. Every year he has been here he has made good moves. He got crucified for not getting Dwight Howard, but I believe it may have ended up being better for us in the long run, as Dwight is clearly not the player he was in Orlando anymore especially on Defense. Houston is actually playing worse defense this year than last year. Teague-Horford-Millsap all under affordable contracts is a great foundation.
  11. Let's not take it too far. KD was in foul trouble most of the game, this game smells more like an aberration than anything.
  12. If he is healthy he can make open threes. Not sure he is an upgrade over Cartier.
  13. And what if we end up with the fifth pick and Julius Randle is the BPA? Our three best players would be PF, and they would all be signed long term. This roster is in flux, and keeping flexibility is more important than locking up Sap, as good as he has played (he's always been this good btw)
  14. Even without injuries we would have potentially given those teams a hell of a series IMHO.. but oh well.
  15. Would be interesting to see how they handle these type of details. Will they just apply tobacco smoking rules to weed? Interesting times we're living in jeje.
  16. I've been a fan of Sap even when he was in Utah, but I'm not sure it makes sense extending him right now. Let's wait till next year where we have a better idea about what the teams' roster will look like moving forward. Sure would love to keep Sap here for longer, but we just signed the guy and it's not like he is doing anything he hasn't done before in Utah (well, except hitting those threes). I'm not sure what would have changed from FA to right now to have Ferry change his mind on his approach to Sap and his contract.
  17. Dunks or no Dunks, Hawks Joe was twice the player Dero is in Toronto. There really aren't any 2 guards in the league right now that I would pick over Joe in his prime. Phoenix had their best team by far and went to the conference finals with Joe (lost to the champion Spurs, Joe played with a broken nose etc.), The start of their decline was after he left. I wasn't a fan of the 1 on 1 play either, but how much of that is on Woodson, and how much of that is on Joe?? He didn't play like that at all in Phoenix... Also, he is not at "prime age" since he is closing in on 1000 games played in his career, and with heavy mintues (37mpg for his career). He is on the downside of his career just like PP and Garnett. Joe may not have been as good as his raw stats, and he may not be as good as one thinks when you're talking about a 6 time all star. (which btw, he deserved to be in since every other 2 guard in the east sucked during that stretch), but he is also nowhere near as bad as you make him out to be.
  18. He's thrown some passes straight at the other team, he can't dribble the ball well in pressure and has no idea what to do when trapped, also his shot and shot selection are both as bad as you'll see from any guard in the NBA. Dennis was getting all of the primary backup PG minutes for the first couple of weeks before losing his spot in the rotation to Mack aka... a second round pick who was cut by the team that drafted him. Honestly, I'm not sure how anyone could not be disappointed by Dennis; not only has he not looked like a ROY candidate but he hasn't looked like an NBA caliber player for most of the time he has been on the floor. I'm not in the "let's give up and trade him" camp, but to say Dennis has matched my expectations would be far from the truth, and this is considering my expectations were a lot lower than most people (i figured he would be putting up the numbers Mack is putting up... a far cry from some of the predictions on this board who claimed he was ready to be our starter and that we should get rid of Teague). Do I still think he has potential? sure, but that doesn't change that his performance this year, sans the Horf injury, has been the greatest disappointment so far this season.
  19. I have to admit Dennis has been a disappointment so far, mostly due to all the hype he was getting before the season; people saying he is a Rookie of the year candidate etc. Him and Jenks have been horrible for the most part. Hopefully he can get his sea legs under him and have a better 2014.
  20. Has Pero officially filled the void in the fans hearts left by the departure of Zaza? Have to say that shot is one of the best shots I've ever seen to tie a ballgame.
  21. I think (hope) we still finish around where we are right now without Horford. Still horrible to see him go down because I think this team, the way it was starting to gel, could have perhaps been something special this season. I still think we will be fun to watch, but without our one legit star it will be tough to make any real noise. Hopefully he can come back for the playoffs.
  22. Well, three of those are games they would have lost anyway, but still good news for us :-)
  23. Hopefully we'll have a chance at getting just that this draft :-)
  24. So many crazy shots in OT by both teams, what a game! I hope Al and DMC are ok, those two shots Teague made were HUUUUUUGE. Both him and Al are putting together a nice little reel of buzzer beaters.
  25. Mookie and Smitty as the backcourt to this system. Would have been awesome.
