  1. Too bad he didn't make that shot! You know it's an epic move when the opposing crowd is oohing and ahhing
  2. It's the weakest eastern conference, perhaps of all time. The number 1 seed, Indiana, would be bottom seed if they played in the west. Last time the eastern conference was this week was the season after Jordan retired. Guess who made it to the finals that year? The #8 seed.
  3. But it would be more fun to rebuild. That way we can sit through 4 years of not making the playoffs and then get back to getting bumped in the second round for 4-5 years and then rebuild again!
  4. Can't imagine Indiana wants to play us after last game lol
  5. Teague is always the X-factor. That's why his inconsistencies are so frustrating.
  6. lol... well, suit yourself. I've been disappointed so many times as an Atlanta sports fan that I personally have had enough of it.
  7. I don't know man, you are really reaching with the Horford thing. There are plenty of undersized centers in the history of the league and non of them had a history of pectoral issues. More than likely the second injury is linked to the first, and the first was just a freak incident, and had nothing to do with Horford playing center instead of PF IMO. And I've always been a fan of Big Al to be honest, but I don't think we "blew" it by signing Sap instead. Horford and Sap were both playing lights out when they were on the floor together both playing the best basketball of their respective careers so I don't see how Jefferson would have been a significantly better option... at least not enough to justify the much steeper price tag.
  8. His defense on Joe was stellar at the end of the game.
  9. How about we see him play a pro game first? Reminds me of Schröder hype. Would love to see Bebe play for us as soon as possible, but I'm not exactly expecting him to make any sort of big impact right away. As long as he doesn't play like total crap a la Schröder I'll be pleased.
  10. Always love beating KG and Pierce. Whiny douches.
  11. umm 28th is good? Anyway the guy had been bad his entire career, you don't have to go back to 2009 just last year. Ask a Utah fan about Jeffersons defense, they were happy to see him go. He has had a career year, at age 29, on that end. Not many thought the signing was good at the time and it has worked out great for them so far but not sure he is worth 4-5 million more than Sap (which has also worked out great for us). Despite your insane theory, Horford probably would still have been injured with Jefferson on board and we wouldn't be more than 2 or 3 wins better at most with Al over Sap. Not sure how anyone can argue having Al over Sap moves the needle for this team significantly especially considering Saps contract is much more cap friendly.
  12. Jefferson doesn't play defense either and has more of a history of injuries. He is having a fantastic season overall, but let's see over the life of his contract how things end up.
  13. I love me some Pero, but have to say I would much rather see Brand getting starts and getting more minutes in the playoffs. He is the only real defensive presence we have at center IMO.
  14. Mike Scott is not starter material, Sap is an All Star. The answer to this question should be obvious. Scott is only good at one thing and that is scoring, and even at that he is very streaky.
  15. Pero didn't dress. Not sure what's wrong with him but he was on the bench wearing a suit.
  16. Yup, 9 pts 7 boards 38% fg% for his career against us. This year he has indeed been particularly awful due to the aforementioned Pero effect averaging 5 pts and 4 boards shooting 28% from the field. Bring on the Pacers I say!
  17. Lowry turned the corner when he started hitting threes, something he did not do at all early on. However, his season this year has been on another level, at 27 years of age, have to wonder if the fact this is a contract year has anything to do with his bump in play. I remember reading an article years ago that looked at the fact that when average players have a career year at 27/28 or older the vast majority of them come back down to earth the following seasons. Most of those years coincided with contract years.
  18. With all the things wrong with our team, at least after this year it seems like we have found a great coach. The team is disciplined, plays hard, and shares the basketball. All the qualities which this team lacked during the Woodson era.
  19. Teague getting his three point stroke going a little bit too.
  20. Teague's getting into a groove again. Let's see if he can keep it going through the playoffs
  21. Yeah, if you restrict it by only taking into account players that played most of a season, it's basically just him and Steve Kerr. Not too shabby. EDIT: He may also be the only player ever to place in the top 10 ALL time in single season FT% and 3pt% in the same season.
  22. I don't think tanking makes any sense since you cannot predict with any degree whatsoever of certainty where you will draft or how your draft pick will develop. We've had top picks already and it has led us nowhere, so who is to say this year will be the exception. Yes, yes, this is the best draft all time (or something along those lines) yet historically countless, "can't miss" players turned out to be duds, who'se to say Wiggins won't be the next Marvin, or Embid the next Oden? The only thing you can control is your current performance. As mediocre as we've been and as little success as we've had in luring FAs do you guys seriously think that being last place is more enticing for potential signings than being a playoff team? Does it benefit this organization, which is run by cheap ownership, to miss out on playoff revenue? Do people forget what it was like to cheer for the JT-Shareef, and young Smoove and Chilldress teams? (both teams were built around tanking btw). The most exciting playoff series this franchise has had since the Nique days was when our #8 seeded Hawks took championship Boston to seven games, so I for one prefer to see how this Hawks team (which has shown flashes of being very good, even without Horf) takes on one of two possible teams that are slumping to end the season. Whatever potential FAs or draft picks may end up being ours is a mystery regardless of where we end up in the standings, so wishing to lose just to have a chance at what is effectively a complete unknown is misguided IMO. Everyone is tired of seeing this team bump it's head in the second round, the attendance speaks for itself, but people acting like tanking will solve our problems need a reality check, because tanking guarantees nothing except having our team lose games now which they could be winning. Might aswell enjoy what we have and cross our fingers in FAs and draft, just like every other teams' fans outside of the championship winner will be doing. What most GMs will never admit is that at the end of the day championships are built mostly on luck. If getting a superstar was as easy as some of you make it out to be, every team would have one. Truth is the majority of teams in this league are stuck at the level where the Hawks are or worse regardless of where they have picked in the last few drafts, it's just reality.
  23. So Korver is currently shooting 49% from the field, 49% from three and 94%(!!!) from the line. If he finishes the season with >50-50-90 shooting percentages, would he be the first to accomplish this? Anyone wanna look that up?
  24. I have no problem whatsoever with Dennis, but I also have no problem with how the coaching staff handled him. In this league if you are playing for a playoff team if you can't play, you sit. That's basically what happened. Whatever the approach Dennis is starting to figure some things out, so development wise things are moving along nicely.
  25. Well that period was a grand total of three games where he was decent at best. After the altercation he became a turnover machine and strung together four or five straight games where he was not playing at anything even resembling NBA level of quality and stuck out as a huge liability. Maybe he didn't get enough of a chance by the coaching staff in your opinion, but believe it or not in December and January we were still actually trying to win games so I personally don't blame them one bit for benching him, especially the way Mack started playing. Now that we are stealth tanking, makes all the sense in the world to play him and let him get some minutes under his belt... that way even if he has another one of his "I don't belong in the NBA" days, it doesn't hurt us.
