  1. If flights weren't priced at an insane 1k to Atlanta from Mexico for next weekend, I would have absolutely taken those ticks :-(
  2. Hopefully this team can come out and play like they have nothing to lose. I understand why the team played tight against Washington as the preassure from the local fanbase, who has been thirsting for an ECF since they began following the team, and the national media, who was chomping at the bit of a chance to trash the team, was immense. Now, with the fans expectations' fulfilled and the national media focusing their attention on Lebron, the hawks can go out and play to win, instead of playing not to lose.
  3. "Paul Pierce mulling retirement" If he retires due to that shot, I couldn't have scripted a better ending.
  4. This is the playoffs, winning is what matters. Who is looking great in the east right now?
  5. Win or lose in the playoffs I'm just glad we aren't watching the abomination that was the Woodson-Knight teams. Seeing real basketball played at the highest level is the best gift a fan could ask for, and it gives me faith a championship could come if not this year then maybe in the close future.
  6. I love that 37% from 3pt is a slump for Korver. I wish Teague and Mills coul hit 37% of their threes.
  7. His defense is the part of his game that has improved the most. I haven't seen any of the other elite PGs play the type of defense Teague has played this year during our matchups against them.
  8. IMO it's already been done plenty of times. You look at the PER and Win shares of the best players on several championship teams and they aren't much better than the Hawks' best players right now. The Kobe + Pau + Bynum Laker championship teams; the late Spurs teams, the Pistons team just off the top of my head. Our top three stack up extremely comparably to those teams' top three, often times outperforming them statistically! Of course if the definition of a superstar is jacking up 20 shots a game and having 20 different sponsorship deals than the Hawks fall short. If you define superstars by the level of production on the court on both ends of the court, than I'd argue the Hawks have plenty of them on this team. Just like the Minnesota article pointed out, people are acting like the Hawks are winning on scheme alone when in reality as much of a factor has been the largely ignored fact that Horf, Teague, Korver + Paul are putting up a year that can rival some of the top four players on many great championship teams IMO. I think part of it is the fact that since our starters are playing only around 30 mpg (due to our equally championship caliber production from the bench) the raw numbers don't look that impressive, but looking at the per 36 mins stats you'd say our team is loaded with studs this year.
  9. Everyone criticized Ferry because he wasn't following any of the supposed tried and true "models" of team building. Instead the dude focused on making the best and smartest decision's possible. I always agreed with his approach and I'm happy it has worked out better than anyone could have anticipated. A dream come true for us Hawk's fans.
  10. Remember when Billy Knight was the one giving the interviews? *shudders* Franchise has come a loooong way since those days.
  11. KD playing in an actual offense? Sign me up for that.
  12. The almost 8 game lead is amazing when you consider that we've only lost 8 games the ENTIRE season. With several months to go in the season the Hawks are pretty much locking up the one seed.
  13. I don't think this would make sense considering we are talking about the NBA All Star Weekend
  14. He may not have Tim Duncan talent, but he brings the Tim Duncan attitude. I wouldn't trade any NBA center for Horford, especially not the overrated offensively challenged past his prime baby with the max contract known as Dwight Howard.
  15. Hahaha.. stupid Vegas. Clearly they haven't seen the latest Beynsian-Regression, caca-poopoo, distance traveled derivitive power rankings over at ESPN. Criminal to mislead voters like this.
  16. Best team in the NBA has the best pre-game threads in the NBA. Fitting.
  17. Of all the message boards I've joined over the years this is the only one I keep going back to. Dolfan does a great job with the site and the quality of posters is great. Happy that Sothron got some love, and I'm sure that if some of the other great posts I've seen on this site got tweeted we would see a lot of other members get some recognition for their insight. #Hawksquawk4life
  18. Josh was on the cusp of being a great player that one year that Woody sent him to hypnotherapy (I'm assuming) to get him off of 3 pointers. If the guy had been commited to defense and slashing + posting up, and forgetting about trying to be Tracy Mcgrady he would have been a perennial all-star. Unfortunetly his flirtation with common sense was short lived and he quickly degenerated into the abomination of a basketball player he is today. I was a big fan of his, but in the end couldn't even watch this team because of the way he sucked the life out of the team everytime he was on the court (Josh Smith's last season is the only season during my 18 years of fandom that boycotted the Hawks).
  19. Our best player had his worst game of the year, we were outrebounded by 20, and we couldn't make threes; the result? Double digit win againt hottest team in the east. Not bad for these one-trick pony Hawks.
  20. Honestly ALL those guys deserve it over anyone else at their respective positions in the East right now.
  21. I love Carrol but can you imagine this team with Kawhi at SF? Our defense would be historically good.
  22. It's up there. Let's not forget Horford has had his fair share of amazing performances with this team in the past though.
  23. Over our last 27 games I can't recall seeing any team play better than us. We have been two fluke games away from playing perfect over an insane stretch.
