  1. I thought Dennis played his best defense of the season today. He looked borderline dominant out there in stretches. Schro has really picked up his level of play the last couple of games. Great to see.
  2. We are definitely playing up to par the last several games. Only thing keeping us from completely blowing out the likes of the Heat (on the road), New Orleans Pelicans, and the Wizards was some untimely cold spells in our shooting. This team is playing lights out right now. Only two or three teams are playing as well as us the last six games.
  3. Bazemore has totally shocked me with how good he is playing. After his first two games I was already expecting him to lose out his starting job to some of our other wing players. The way he is playing the last six games is totally outside of my wildest hopes. Give a lot of credit to the coaches, but most of the credit has to go to Bazemore, improvement like this does not come without putting in some serious work.
  4. The Hawks are the third most impressive team in the east so far, behind Toronto and Cleveland. We need to be more consistent on offense and we are gonna need Korver to get back to being Korver at some point in order to outplay those two teams IMO.
  5. Outside of the first game Schro has played like crap IMO. His three point shooting in the third salvaged his night against the Nets, but other than that he was completely incapable of running the offense or setting up his teammates. A little humility would do Schröder good, because he is no where near a starting caliber PG for a team looking to make the finals.
  6. Then why is Mike Scott being phased out (seeing less minutes than ever) in favor of more backup center minutes for Tiago and Paul Millsap seeing minutes at the three? Why did we use most of our capspace last offseason on two seven footers? Why has the staff said that rebounding will be a priority this season? I guess it's all smoke and mirrors to fool us gullible fans into thinking that the people who dedicate their lives to running the team are actually trying to improve it.
  7. Because Edy has played 1 minute of Pro ball in his entire career compared to Mike Scott who is a veteran and has a clear understanding of the NBA game and of the offensive and defensive systems the Hawks run, perhaps? We have invested in Edy and his development and brought him in this year on a nice salary for a reason. And it isn't to sit on the pine perpetually on this team. The staff will be working with him throughout the season in developing him and when he is ready to contribute to winning basketball he will get his chance. Have a little faith in the coaching staff that was voted best in the NBA last year by the players and media bro.
  8. This team will only get better IMO. Looong season, but the way Korver and Thabo have looked early, I think there is plenty of reason to be optimistic.
  9. Baze and Carrol averaged the same amount of rebounds on a PER minute basis. Thabo was a much better rebounder than either, and as the season goes own it will be Thabo not Baze getting he majority of the minutes at that position, so based off of last year stats we should be getting more rebounds from the SF position. Tiago Splitter (career 9.5 RP 36 min) is also a big upgrade in rebounding from Antić (6.6 RP 36 mins last year), not to mention Horford has a good chance of improving his rebounding numbers from last year which were his career worst by a considerable margin. Add in Edy, who has a good chance of cracking the rotation (especially if Mike Scott goes to jail) and, in theory, the Hawks should be a better rebounding team than last year. Just because we have had two bad rebounding games in a row doesn't mean we won't get better.
  10. Our defensive rebounding has not been good the first two games, but considering the moves we made in the offseason and that fact that the staff has said that getting better at rebounding will be a priority this year I'm willing to give it some time. This is 2 games into an 82 game season we are talking about, let's wait until we have at least a significant sample size before we give up on our team.
  11. After his complete brain fart in the playoffs I can't feel bad about him being suspended for drug use.
  12. The only thing I recall from seeing this guy play is that nothing whatsoever stood out to me. A lower tier NBA bench talent imo.
  13. looking at summer league stats is pointless either way IMO. Obviously if a player is playing awful against a bunch of fringe NBA players it doesn't bode well for his NBA future; however I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions, especially when we are talking about really raw and young talents in their first action of their professional careers.
  14. Vucevics numbers have not translated to wins. Horford may not put up the same raw numbers but his value is greater overall, especially on the defensive end.
  15. Why can't we just pretend Billy Knight never happened and just enjoy not being a punchline of a franchise anymore?
  16. with the status of the current free agent market, this move makes the most sense IMHO. I have never been a fan of Wesley Johnson, but he has physical tools and has always been marred by terrible team situations, so who knows... maybe he's Demarre 2.0
  17. Baze seems undersized even at the 2; no way can he be a full time starter at the 3 imho.
  18. To be fair to THJR how many players are good on defense at 22? Any rookie we would have drafted would have struggled mightely on that end too; let's not forget how awful Schröder was as a rookie and at times last year; and Schro is supposed to be the next Rondo on D.
  19. I felt bench and rebounding were our biggest weaknesses in the playoffs, so the fact we are addressing both of those concerns is awesome. Losing Demarre hurts though, because as much as some of you are downplaying his impact he was actually carrying the team during the playoffs before his injury. I hope one of the young guys, whether it be Baze or THJR can pick up the slack.
  20. I'd rather pay a poor man's Monta 1 million a season than Monta 18 million
  21. There's a lot of potential in this move, but ppl will complain we didn't get a rookie. Rookie classes have been one disapointment after another in the last four seasons so I personally don't mind one bit getting someone who, worst case scenario, will strengthen our bench which was badly exposed last year. Under the right tutelage THJR has the tools to be a very good starter in a year a two.
  22. lol, How does this make any sense for them? Favors is just starting to round into form and was already, at 23, just as productive as Millsap last season. They let Millsap walk two years ago for nothing, when they could have kept him for a modest contract and now they want to pay him 18 million at the age of 30? That team is still a couple of years from being a contender anyway, so why trade youth for experience at this stage?
  23. Nice shot; though as far as soccer juggling tricks go, that isn't really all that impressive IMO.
