  1. This is pretty surprising. Has he met with Mavs yet?? Doesn't make much sense he would accept a contract without weighing all his options.
  2. Go to the Utah board and ask who is better Jefferson or Millsap. You haven't seen these guys play if you think this is a tragedy. Al Jefferson is a tragedy, the guy gives away more on defense than what he gives you on the other end. Millsap + Horford > Millsap + Jefferson
  3. A lot of you guys are ridiculous. Millsap is a great player, better than Josh overall IMHO. We didn't get Howard so what the hell were we supposed to do??? not sign anyone? We still need to field a team out there and Millsap is at least an upgrade over what we had at PF last year. People acting like Al playing C is a disaster, the dude has better stats for his career playing at C than at PF, and averaged 17 and 10 last season playing Center the vast majority of the time. Millsap + Horford will be one of the premiere frontlines in the NBA, and both signed at reasonable deals.
  4. Monta gets a bad wrap from advanced stats guys.... and all the fans of the teams he has played for. Go to a Golden State or a Milwaukee bucks forum and see what they have to say about the guy. If Monta stays in Milwaukee 3/4ths of the fanbase will be on suicide watch.
  5. Agreed. The idea is not to try to finish dead last on purpose, but to focus on the future rather than the right now.
  6. What's our chances at a top four pick finishing sixth - fourth in the east for the nth hundredth time?
  7. That's not thaaat bad. He isn't worth that now, but at his age he could well turn out to be worth more than that.
  8. Defense, the running game, and special teams also played a role. IMO Tebow was at the right place at the right time and got a lot of credit for putting Denver where they were, while he didn't necessarily earn all of it. I will say that It definitely would have been interesting if they had given him a shot at being Jets starter. We would have seen if he really did have the magic touch.
  9. only Tyreke Evans, and only at a reasonable price (i.e. I wouldn't pay him a cent more than what we gave Smoove on his last contract). If we could make the contract three years with an option for a fourth than I would be totally on boardAt his current production Evans is an 8-9 million dollar guy, but he does have star potential which makes him intriguing. The one huge wart that I hate, is he hasn't developed an outside shot. Pro guards, unless they are all world athletes, need to be able to shoot from the arc, period.
  10. I think Lin's run was far more impressive, the guy was playing amazing. Tebow was winning games in the flukiest ways possible, and while fun to watch, I think most objective observers still understood that the guy was sort of a joke at QB.After his sensational breakout months, Lin was a pretty big disappointment last year, but in his defense he did improve as the year went on and showed some upside. If he had a reasonable contract, I'd be on board. At his current price tag, I'd stick with Schröder and Teague all day every day and twice on sunday.
  11. I'm not for tanking per se, but I prefer fielding a bad team and having a shot at a superstar next year via free agency and draft, then sign guys like Tiago Splitter and Andre Iguadola / Tyreke Evans for 10-13 million dollars a year and condemning ourselves at finishing 6-4 and getting bounced from the playoffs in the second round the next few years. This mentality that if you have cap space you MUST use it is what has handcuffed dozens of mediocre and bad teams the last few years. Using current assets like Josh Smith, and Teague, and turning them over for picks is what some may call tanking, but others like myself would call building towards the future. Sometimes you have to be realistic about your team and be prepared as a GM to sacrifice a season in order to develop young talent and acquire picks in order to build something special in the future. This fanbase is tired of watching the same film on repeat over and over for the last 40 years. Can't think of any franchise in pro sports that has been to the playoffs as much as the Hawks and never even gotten to a conference (semi) finals, EVER.
  12. He's had his worst season by a mile. Before this season you would have had your head examined if you didn't place Howard as a top five NBA player, let's not forget It wasn't long ago when he was contending with a team filled with average role players. Having said that, I also would be apprehensive about signing Dwight. His health is a big question mark, and his free throw shooting and turnovers are big warts to his game. Obviously it all comes down to who we'll get when we sign him, Orlando Dwight or LA Dwight? If it's Orlando Dwight he is worth the trouble, if he is LA Dwight then his faults will outweigh his merits.
  13. I can dig DS, but Dahntay is one of the worst players I've ever seen, unless he picks up his play considerably he isn't going to be a key to anything.
  14. Still better than his jumpshots lolol
  15. Probably is my guess. Though I thought the same about last years Celtics and we ended up dropping that series.
  16. Teague can play. He's gotten to the point where the only thing holding him back is his consistency. Sure he looked amazing today, but he also had an abomination of a game against Phoenix, and was pretty damn bad against the Lakers and Nuggets. Fair enough, that was a tail end of a rough road trip, but still, the truly great ones rise up in those occasions and Teague fell flat. He's been a real surprise overall though, reaching levels in his play that I think most people didn't think he could reach before the year began. Loads of potential IMO.
  17. Oh please, have you ever visited any other teams' message boards after losses? Josh would be getting crucified on every single one of them if he played for any other team. Low attendance and no media coverage are the two reasons nobody wants to play for us, NOT a few people on a message board.
  18. Marvin is a bench quality player, nothing more. We could have replaced him with just Morrow and it would have been a net positive. He is a wing player, that cannot pass or dribble effectively and that has inconsistent range. Just a plain ol scrub really.
  19. I agree with people saying losing Smith isn't as bad as it sounds. Honestly, the only shot we have of a championship run is if we get a megasuperstar through free agency or the draft. If next year we whiff on free agency then let Smoove walk, give us capspace, and then we can bomb and go for some picks. We need to rebuild, this "core" was not good enough when we had Joe an Crawford giving us career years, it certainly isn't going to be good enough now. Maybe if Josh and Al Horford had actually blossomed into stars, but ultimately they have both proven without a doubt they are nothing more than number 2s (at best). We need a Number 1 player, and the only way we are getting one is through draft or free agency. Trades are not gonna do it at this stage.
  20. Smitty was my idol growing up man, everyone in 1996 was practicing Jordan's fade away but I was out there in the playground working on my Steve Smith turnaround and baseline head fakes, lol.
  21. Yeah, but when your TS% is 48% for a PF you better be Bill Russel on the other end... Which Josh Isn't. 48% is Tolliver - Darko levels of offensive efficiency
  22. lol. I like those unis, but probably only because I started watching the team when they were wearing them.
  23. Gortat makes a lot of sense for us, a very good starting center. We can play Al at PF and finally have some legitimately good size down low. Plus we get rid of Smith, who is horrible with a capital H this season.
  24. You could replace Josh with a broomstick and the offense would improve lol
