  1. Eh...so we can't shoot in PHX. If memory serves, this isn't the first time this has happened in that building. Edit: To correct my previous post (now that I look at the Box Score), by "we", I clearly mean "Mike Bibby." I feel much better if we just have one guy off his game in the preseason, rather than the whole team.
  2. "Now You Know." Is that the new marketing tag? Eh...could be worse.
  3. I guess you're right, sorta... It's coming out now that Harris' AAU coach/mentor is actually engaged to one of Barnes' assistant coaches. There's a recruiting tool I've never heard of before...but hey, if it works, I'll take it. Story from Fox Spots... http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/8595722...m-in-small-pond
  4. I think this only matters to you, JB, and myself... Barnes is doing a phenomenal job. We had the coaching last year, just not the talent. This year, adding all the transfers to two outstanding players in Mendez and Chase should bolt us up the CAA standings. Adding Harris and Vincent (another 6'9" stud out of Columbus) should keep us up there for the next several years. Harris has the potential to absolutely dominate this league. We just have to hope he gets his grades in order and does make it to campus. Good things happening all around GSU athletics right now... (Well, except for the currently 0-12 ladies volleyball team, but whatever...)
  5. I demand that we hold a 'Squawk Summit in the AYCE section this year. The lack of corn dogs is a downer, though...
  6. I thought the story was the Al wanted to get a Dominican team together and attempt to qualify for the 2012 games. I believe he and Francisco Garcia are the only NBA players from the DR. Either way, Go Al!
  7. http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-bl...ics_overlo.html (Visit the link only if you care to read Sekou's thoughts on the Olympics...below is the only Hawks' related nugget. I guess he has a quota to meet with the AJC or something...) I like reading that. Honestly, if I was Smoove's agents, I would have told him to sit down until a contract finally got done. No lifting, no basketball, nothing that could potentially cause injury. Sit on the couch and learn to love daytime TV...
  8. Marvin and Jamison together should be able to score on anybody.
  9. Yeah, if they don't match this, I'm done. It's less than Iggy, Deng, Okafor, etc. are getting. There's no excuse no to match that.
  10. If there's nothing new for Sekou to report, then he's really got nothing to write about on this one... Maybe he could work a bit harder, but hell, the way the AJC is going...he probably doesn't have much of a budget to work with. I'm sure if he asked for gas money to drive up to Chapel Hill and check in on Marvin, the AJC would probably shut him down... As for Josh... I'm sure he's enjoying his summer, aside from the not having the security of a long-term deal yet. I'm sure his agents have him under strict orders not to touch a basketball or do any kind of physical activity until a deal is signed. Unfortunately, him sitting on the couch eating ice cream doesn't help him improve his game at all...maybe the ASG will realize this at some point. Maybe it's better to pay market value and get Josh back into a gym. But I doubt it...
  11. They haven't fixed everything. I've been looking at a few other teams and there's similar errors everywhere. Those are remnants from last year.
  12. It's definately the 2008-2009 season. Also, if you're looking for another potential National TV game...we're scheduled to face Dallas at Philips on Thursday, March 19. Thursday is TNT's NBA night. There's usually only three games scheduled on Thursdays, with TNT airing two of them. We didn't play on Thursday a single time last year. NBATV games have not been scheduled yet.
  13. November is a lot of road games @ Eastern Conference teams. We have five back-to-backs in November alone. Wow....thanks, NBA. Texas Triangle in early December followed by an eight (8!) game homestand. As mentioned, March/April feature a lot of home games, but that's when a lot of Western powers come to town. We have a seven game homestand in there. We play SAS/BOS/LAL in one 6-day stretch. Yikes...
  14. http://www.nba.com/hawks/schedule/ GO! GO! GO! One game on ESPN. December 17. Boston @ Atlanta. (Before anyone freaks out about why we don't have more...remember, national TV games are flexible late in the year.) (Also, lol @ the schedule still having Seattle on there.) More thoughts coming...
  15. ESPN's blog has gathered bits of info from around the league... http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-33-1...-Wednesday.html Christmas Day will feature Boston @ LA and San Antonio @ Phoenix. Opening night will have LeBron @ Boston.
  16. Alright, it looks like the schedule is due to officially be released at 11 AM. Hold tight...
  17. Wait...does anybody have a link to the full schedule yet? I see Sekou's info on ajc.com, but I can't find a full schedule on hawks.com or nba.com Are we still waiting on that?
  18. Walter and I must be from the same neck of the woods... I played little league ball with Jeff Malone's nephew. Met him a couple of times. I still have a personalized, signed poster of Jeff Malone somewhere. Went to Sharone Wright's basketball camp one time. He brought a young Marcus Camby in as a guest. I was working at a flower shop at the time that Wright got into the car accident that ended his career. I took an order that was to be delivered to his mother's house. I asked for the message for the card and got, "Thinking of you and your son. Best wishes, Isiah Thomas." If you're ever out for a late dinner in Atlanta, you seem to stand a good chance of running into a drunk Charles Barkley. I've seen him quite a few times...
  19. This picture scared the hell out of me...
  20. Kwame: 2 years/$8 million. Morris: 2 years/$1.7 million. That's your "legit" reason.
  21. Joe would stand on the wing and glare at Melo as he jab steps for 17 seconds.
  22. While we're at it, we might as well dig up Hanno Mottola.
  23. He absolutely needs to be moved. As does Ohman. I'd hope to get an emerging OF or 1B, along with a pitching prospect for Teixeira. Picking up an additional prospect for Ohman (whether he's packaged with Tex or dealt separately) would be ideal.
