  1. Should we make moves to win a title next year? Well, obviously. There's not a KG on the trading block this summer, unfortunately.
  2. Just to note...I don't think I've heard anyone hear mention the idea of singing Marvin to an extension this summer. If you can find a SNT partner for Childress with an emerging player on a rookie deal, do you make that trade then try to get Marvin on a reasonable contract this summer? Just a thought...
  3. I believe Levenson has showed up twice to provide us with ticket deals. Babcock used to do some Q&A with us. That was way back on the old ezBoard, I think.
  4. She looks kind of like Acie, to be honest...
  5. Poor Al. He looks so lonely. Someone photoshop Harry the Hawk in there with him...
  6. Quote: What a joke. I have lost all respect for Al Horford. Why isn't he focusing on his game? Seriously. I'm disgusted.
  7. From my understanding of last year's team, and if you don't mind putting things into football terms, Drew was our "offensive coordinator" while Fizdale handled the defense. Lister worked with the bigs, Bender with the guards. Drew was originally brought in as a "player development" coach. I'd rather have him in that capacity and bring in a true offensive coach. Woody at least understand defense...but he's clueless on offense.
  8. Doesn't shock me. At least it opens a spot on the bench. I'd hope we could fill that with somebody (Anybody?!) who could teach Woody something about offensive basketball. Larry Drew tried to get out last year to be closer to his family in California, but he might be open to staying now that his son will be playing up the road at UNC next year. I'd like Drew to stay. It always seemed that he had a close relationship with Marvin and Acie.
  9. Great. So we start slow, Woodson gets canned, and we limp through the rest of the year with an interim coach and repeat this next summer... ...so why didn't we just do this last year? Y'know, when the GM suggested it...
  10. At least we got one good bit of coaching news today, JB. Bringing in Reeves and Curry were the right moves to get this thing off the ground. They've got the connections to bring in the money we need and the name recognition to swing a player or two our way. (I went down to the press conference today. Bill Hartman jokingly asked Curry about 17 year old kids knowing him from ESPN, not from his past coaching days. Either way, they'll know more about him that some random assistant coach from somewhere.) Given that Curry will be 67 by the time we start playing, I'm sure there will be a plan in place to groom an assistant for his spot. I believe Curry said he's signing a 5 year deal effective July 1, so he may only be on to coach three seasons. And you're absolutely correct on Georgia Southern. They've been pissing themselves since the whispers started getting louder a few years ago. Can't wait for 2010. (Actually, since we're having spring practices in 2009, maybe that includes a spring game too? I'll be thrilled just to see that.)
  11. Really happy that I declined to renew my season tickets. I feel bad for every person that bought into this only after the playoff run. This won't end well. With no coaching change and no real room to change the roster, there's no reason to believe in sigfinicant improvement. And I wouldn't shock me to see Smoove talk his way into a SNT, a la Joe.This is just fan-*bleeping*-tastic.
  12. Quote: JD: $400 for this damn seat?! [censored], I should just buy the damn team. I got more money than all these owners combined... Usher: This mf'er been stealing my checks since "U Make Me Wanna." Security: Oh Lord! The girls at the salon aren't going to believe this one.
  13. Quote: LOL DJ its hard to blow the roof off of Philips when there is no one there! Plus, while a phenonomal shot, it wasn't that uncommon, especially in the college ranks, guys take and make those regularly-i.e. Chris Lofton, JJ Redick, etc. Anyways, great great shot but not play of the year. For true play of the year I'm thinking regular season would probably be Bibby's three against Toronto, right? That was crazy! Playoffs probably JJ's game four trey or game six's shot with a minute left. Ah...I know it wasn't the play of the year. That game was the night of the downtown tornado. That's where the "blowing the roof off" line came from. Other regular season plays I haven't seen mentioned. Playoffs can wait, since damn near every play at home was memorable. (I'll let somebody else go hunt down the videos on these.) -Joe's GW vs. Minnesota. (Obviously.) -Bibby's three to force OT vs. Toronto. -Joe's shot from 3/4 court @ New Jersey. -Acie's half-court buzzer beater. (Right handed, too. I think...) -Smoove's block on D-Wade. -Smoove's block on Nocioni. -Marvin's dunk on Nocioni. -Smoove's dunks on Sean Williams, Turiaf, etc. -Smoove's windmill in Orlando. -Horford's dunk on Diop. (Only because it was literally just minutes into his NBA career.)
  14. Joe blew the roof off Philips Arena with this one...
  15. But I think all the star players (at least those you would want) have already been dealt... The only two "stars" that will be readily available this summer appear to be Vince Carter and Jermaine O'Neal. I don't want a damn thing to do with either of them.
  16. I'll send Dumars a bouquet of flowers if he takes Woodson off our hands. Woodson might work better with a veteran team like Detroit, if Dumars was to keep those guys around... ...but there's no way in hell they would sniff the ECF with him in charge.
  17. Gearon certainly dodged the question when it came to addressing Sund's autonomy as GM... I hope Sund is more open with the media than BK and can handle the occasional interview with 790. I'm so very tired of hearing Gearon speak.
  18. This should come as a shock to no one.
  19. Oh, God. You're gonna trade the farm for Eddy Curry, aren't you?
  20. The last time Sekou posted a vague message regarding something of this nature was the evening before the Bibby trade broke, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. 790 seems to be about the last ones to know anything...
  21. ...the hell is going on here? Also, lifted from another one of Sekou's replies... Quote: Speedy is supposedly going to try and make another comeback from his latest knee surgery. I haven’t spoken to the cat in a minute. But I’ll be sure to track him down this summer. Oh boy...
  22. AJC estimated that number on the contracts signed by past #3 overall picks... ESPN is reporting 6 years, $72 million If true, Blank has lost his damn mind. I'm glad years of local TV blackouts appear likely for this team, because they're a disgrace.
  23. My parents still live in Macon. Fortunately for them, the tornado hit the south side of town, while they live on the extreme northern edge of the city limits. They had to spend Mother's Day with no power for about 12 hours, but they're back to normal now. I do have several relatives who live closer to the tornado's path, but they all made it through with no damage. Just a tree down at one house. Crazy couple of months...I was at Philips when the tornado passed directly over us. Now this. Enough for one year.
  24. Unless he changes, Carmelo's career is slowly slipping into Big Dog territory... That said, I certainly wouldn't give up Smoove for him. Marvin/Bibby, sure.
  25. The Bulls are clearly more talented right now. If he takes the NYK job, he's praying for the balls to bounce right for Derrick Rose and/or waiting for the cap space in 2010. ...but ****, I'd take any job for a guaranteed $30 million.
