  1. What is this that you speak of? On a side note, Babcock was our speaker for our Emory Business School Senior Seminars. He talked about running an NBA franchise and how the system works (like scouting, coaching, etc.) He talked extensively about his time with the Hawks as GM and why he made certain trades that he gets killed for...
  2. LOL. Y'all do know that is a pipe dream. If we clinch early, Woodson version of resting the starters would mean that Bibby and JJ would play 35 mins a game instead of 40+. And now that I think about it, I would probably want to play the Celtics instead. We just can;t seem to beat Detroit. The only real way to beat them is run them over, but they won't allow you to do so. The Celtics play great defense, but they are more finesse than anything. Detroit is battle-tested and become grown ass Bears in the playoffs.
  3. If we continue to play well (although tonight's game had some serious flaws), then the only remaining team we could realistically lose to is Boston. Like it or not, their starters will play about half of the game. And their bench is no longer crap either. If the Raptors continue to slide, as they have been ever since our whooping placed on them, then we very well could end up with that 7th seed.
  4. Yeah, and the Raptors lost again tonight. They havent won again since we beat those cry babies. If we just take care of business, we should squeak into the playoffs and possibly capture that 7th seed.
  5. How the hell you arent able to defend a play EVERYONE AND THEIR MOM knew was coming is bad, bad, bad on both Woodson and whoever the hell ever blew their assignment (appears to be Childress). Why more tall bodies weren't guarding the rim is beyond me. You dont EVER let a team punk you like that...ever!
  6. Quote: Well, since the refs followed the letter of the law, we should have the win. We'll have to see if Stern really wants to screw the Hawks or if he's gonna man up and make the right call. Yeah, let's all hope. In all honesty though, issues like this should be reviewable. That's what has many fans of the NFL pissed off--too many things aren't reviewable anymore. Let's see if Stern follows the expressly written rules or decides to circumvent them and establish a dangerous precedent.
  7. Meh, it's David Stern though. THAT is what has me worried...
  8. The TV clock is NOT the official one. We need to see the one above the rim.
  9. I knew it. It's gonna happen... Linky http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...ksnot_0403.html
  10. I think you are right. I think have a good chance of winning close to 27. We gotta start playing better defense though... And I swear, you use "ish" like every other sentence. Haha...
  11. Quote: Quote: Quote: I dont care if they protest, lol. You cannot catch the ball bring it in to your chest then try to lay it in the basket all in .5 seconds. Just watch it and any one with half a brain knows he had the ball longer than a half of a second. That's the whole point that Smitty was trying to make. Unfortunately, I have not been able to watch the shot in dispute, but it appears as though the right call was made. I wouldn't be too surprised if Toronto challenge. Unless one of our players tipped the ball, the clock definitely started too soon. It started at .5, and was at .4 when he first touched the ball. That said, from what people are saying about how the refs control the clock in that situation, I don't think it will be overturned. Yea Floyd, I JUST got a chance to watch the replay of it on ESPN. Unfortunately, they did not show the sequences before the actual layup (like the inbound pass and when the shot clock started). As the guy above me stated, it may not be overturned because of the way the refs control the clock.
  12. Apparently the refs reviewed this thing several times...it appears as though they made the right call. If Toronto can challenge it, they probably will though. Anyway, huge win. We will make the playoffs unless we collapse now. And we are finally approaching a respectable record at that. Good job Hawks.

  14. Quote: Yeah you are probably right, Salim, Solo, West, etc., are all probably All-Stars in the making ... if only Woody weren't holding them back. It's pretty sad that you of all people decided to take such a one-sided view on this--although I never intimated they would be all-stars or anything close to it. My point was that he has not developed them to the points where they should be at by doing thing such as inconsistent PT, horrible sub patterns, etc. *Sigh* It's always so pointless with you. At any rate, we will see what balls the ASG have during the offseason. My only hope is that at least on of the BK/Woody dyad is shipped out of town.
  15. Dolfan, you are right. We have only played them twice according to the site below. We beat them by 12 the first time and got owned by 20 the next game. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketbal...awks/index.html We should all be worried about the Pacers now that JO is back and focus on capturing the 7th seed. It looks like they get the Celtics tonight and we get the Raptors. Lets see if we can pull out a win.
  16. Whoever asked how can BK get a pass in all of this...He shouldn't. Both those clowns need to go. Unfortunately, with the Bibby trade and possibly bringing Andersen over, those jokers at the ASG might decide to keep him.
  17. Quote: Quote: lack of developing players If Woody wasn't developing his players then why are all of our talented young players better every year? Is he being judged for not developing guys that belong in the NBDL like Solo and Salim? So he gets no credit for taking a guy that people say couldn't do anything but jump in his rookie year to turning into one of the best young players in the game in Smoove? Show me another coach that has had this many young players and done so much better. Is Woody not allowed to have growing pains like young players are? If making the playoffs this year and winning more games every year than the previous year isn't a sign of success then what must he do in order to achieve success in your eyes? Obviously you guys that want Woody gone are using an emotional argument because you won't set a bar for the Hawks to achieve in order to call this season a success and therefore bring Woody back. Since Woody was FINALLY given a legit PG to run his team we are looking like a pretty damn good team but he doesn't seem to get any credit for that which is laughable. Not once have the players ever quit on Woody and yet that counts for nothing with some of you. Woody certainly has flaws and perhaps the biggest is his substitution pattern but there is a good chance that if Woody had bench players that he could trust his substitutions would be a hell of a lot better. Can you blame him for not wanting to take the starters out when our bench can't hold a lead and we are fighting for a playoff spot? I didnt bother reading all of it because I know the angle you are coming from. Woodson has not done A GOOD a job at developing players as a real head coach should. Salim, Solo, Acie, and many others come to mind. Inconsistent PT and many other factors contribute to this. It is what it is.
  18. Quote: Quote: Although, I know just about everyone (notably a few that I know will immediately rush in to discredit these comments) will say he should stay. You sure about that? I haven't seen a single person on this board say they want Woodson around next year. That is true. However, I was referring to his future here IF we made the playoffs. A LOT of those who defend Woodson believe he should stay if we make it either into the playoffs or deep into them. I say there is nothing that should happen that should keep him here for next year.
  19. In my opinion, Woodson has to go whether we make the playoffs or not. His furstraing inability to make adjustments during halftime, questionable substitutions ALL YEAR, lack of developing players, etc etc is pathetic. A playoff berth in this pathetic East this year should NOT allow Woodson to keep his job. Although, I know just about everyone (notably a few that I know will immediately rush in to discredit these comments) will say he should stay. Oh well, to each his own for the love of mediocrity.
  20. I agree Floyd, and I have said the same thing all along. But Durant WILL get it--although undeservedly. Oh, and Horford is shooting 50% from the field. He was barely shooting over 40% early in the season. He is looking damn good lately (altho his defensive rebounding has dropped off past couple months).
  21. Quote: Quote: Maybe so, but when your bench players aren't getting consistent minutes, you wont see consistent production. That's my point. It's not that hard to figure out. Harpring, Korver and Milsap would get consistent minutes from Woody on this team, I promise you. Stoudamire, Law and West, not so much . . . Lol...the same coach who benched Horford in the beginning of the season in favor of Zaza freaking Pachulia UNTIL Pachulia got hurt... The same one who refused to play Law even after AJ and others were not going to be with us any longer... Nice try.
  22. CWell, it's futile. It has become conspicuously apparent how stupid so many fans are. They don't understand the gravity of just how much Woodson has held Acie back. Yes, WOODSON! They expect a effin rookie to come in, after getting 3 mins one night and is blessed with 6 mins the next, to come in and start dishing out assists and racking up points left and right with OTHER SORRY BENCH PLAYERS. They don't believe in developing a player--something Woodson has a knack for not doing. I swear, some of these fans are just stupid. And yeah ->
  23. Maybe so, but when your bench players aren't getting consistent minutes, you wont see consistent production. That's my point. It's not that hard to figure out.
  24. yardbird, you must not have watched the games. Woodson has NEVER given Acie consistent minutes. You wanna talk about Woodson building confidence? Confidence? You talking about confidence? Man please. Woodson has done nothing but install counter-productive measures to squash whatever confidence he may have.
  25. Hmm, their bench already has 39 effin points. That's why they are holding that 30+ point lead. Those guys like Harpring, Korver, and Milsap on their bench get consistent minutes night in and night out. Go figure. Now, look at why we dont get good production from our bench.
