watched the game on espn3...must admit im not a big NCAA fan, and missed most of last season...but UGA is just looking so much better with Fox than with Felton. I remember trying to watch the GT UGA game from 2-3 yrs ago, i wanted to slit my wrists. The guard play was horrible by both sides. back to last nights game, it was nice to see the physical and scoring backcourt challenge UGA..and for the most part get shut down in the first half. Still holes in the rebounding of Price and our other bigs, but Leslie has been making up for it at the 3. Looking to see how the freshman develop as season goes along, and see a complete game once Trey gets back in.

Not much to say really about the game. Looked ugly in the first half, tempting me to watch the ESPN game. + Bench played good, contributing in variety of ways and playing more controlled, forcing turnovers. - Marvin and Josh were lost, interior D was horrible in the first half. - Rebounding, take away 10offensive boards for Spurs and the difference is reasonable. We need our 4 to dominate the matchup defensively and that includes getting the Dboard. Once our frontcourt gets back to solid D we will start winning again.

Smith deserves the most blame this game. He wont get it until he learns to play in the post and doesnt use his athleticism as a crutch for his horrible decision making. It might not be noticeable from the statline, even in the first half his "defense" couldnt do anything to slow down Scola, who is like the opposite of Smith, weak athleticism but great BBiq and fundamentals. Just a horrible game, almost turned the channel in the first. We also couldnt slow their transition offense enough so no one was going for Off boards, everyone was loitering on the perimeter.

Best Bibby play last night was him and Joe tagging Mayo with his 5th foul, right after he picked up his 4th. Mayo looked frustrated all day trying to defend Joe, who looked just so much bigger than him on the court. Joe kept him close on D too, trying not to let him get comfortable. Anyway Mayo picked up his 4th following Joe off the ball on screens. On the inbounds pass, Bibby back picked him and Joe pressed him forward, i did not even notice what Mayo did as he tried to fight through, but he got his 5th right there and was pretty upset, threw his mouth piece on the way to the bench. Bibby probably drew 3-4fouls off the ball against memphis hehe, gotta love getting those silly turnovers/poss from the other team.

I actually like Hollingers article...I think their GM hasnt shown any brilliance and backed himself into a corner...Mr. Colangelo. He has no assets to trade to make the team better and they need help at the 2/3 to ease Bosh's scoring load...their drafts pretty much mediocre too.

I was at the game today, man, it was ridiculously empty for the first quarter..maybe 25% full. But it actually got better after halftime, maybe more people coming down closer to the front...an illusion possibly.

Its too early i think to evaluate what to do, but it comes down to this offseason. I think its better to make a run for 2009, because in 2010, we will have horf/smoove/marvin/acie under contract taking leaving us with around 33m which will be too little to sign 2 huge 16+m FA. I think we would have to let one of marv/horf/smoove go be able to fill the 2FA requirement, and then we would still have trouble finding a top tier pg. I think this offseason, we should resign bibby for 6-8m, and find a solid C/PF like sheed in the 6-8m or s&t childress to fill in the spot. Resign Marv, Solo. Should be our same lineup pretty much with a solid C as 6th man or move horf to the 6thman. That would be perfect imo.

i think the 2007 draft was overrated a little, too much hype. This last class was under the radar outside of mayo/beasley/rose. Also i think alot of the "potential" euro prospects have been gobbled up over the years, so no one is really reaching that much for euro prospects.

if i remember correctly, he isnt allowed to participate with the knicks in practice..they dont want him around. Whether thats his fault or not...i wouldnt appreciate being asked to play when im generally banned from team activities. I dont think Mike reached out to him, i think he just let the status quo go. Yah i know Marbury is a headcase, but they helped create the situation so knicks should bear the brunt of it.

I think it was the small vs small lineup ... woody overthinking. They had the Alexander, Villan, Jefferson frontcourt most of the time i think...like i said, pretty much overthinking. Noticed Flip on Jefferson alot...

Yah i know we had discussions about how weakside defense might be overrated to man defense, but that doubt in opposing teams that they maybe swatted/stripped is evident. We just consistently giving up high fg% and 3pt%... Also our backup lineup of having 2 small guards on at once makes a difference, where our rotating and size matchups was in our favor from the sf/sg/pg last year.
