  1. I think his decision to play in SL was around same time when the detroit board was talking about the Smith +claxton SNT for Prince+amir... they were thinking it was an exhibition of the goods b4 a possible trade...but who knows :P
  2. Yah its not like we lose anything big by overpaying for him...heck everyone overpays. Even a year or 2 down the road, we can still trade him if we overpay..we might get a couple mill in value less back however..but its not like hes gonna be untradeable. Thing is with bibby and zaza expiring, there will be enough room to resign marvin and SNT childress next year ...correct me if im wrong..? Thats why im indifferent to keeping him or trading him personally...i like smoove..but if he wants out and we can get a veteran starter or 2 im all for it..if we keep him at even 13m per, i wouldnt mind either.
  3. It becomes more about ego than logic "Show me the money" so i feel appreciated... We all tend to think the same way in instances...how many times have you been fed up with your work environment and think..they couldnt do *$*#@ without me? The reality is when you leave the org your production is easily replaced because of the system in place...
  4. I dont care much about his past confrontations with woody...but it is obvious he sulks or takes himself out the game sometimes...can tell from the body language. His eventual maturity should fix that...
  5. Are they trying to SNT smoove for quality veteran starter+pick or young asset...thus reducing our payroll this year so they dont have to renounce childress and thus use him for SNT next year or after?
  6. I know the detroit SNT has been overplayed, but this is what i would do if possible. Sign Kwame for whats left of MLE SNT Smith + Bibby + filler + future 1st to Detroit for Prince+Billups+BYC filler (possible future 2nd) Sign Jackson or Richardson Sign Hunter Run this Lineup PG: Billups / Law / Speedy SG: Johnson / Evans / West SF: Prince / Marvin / Jackson(rich) PF: Horford / Marvin / Hunter C: Pachulia / Kwame / Jones Could alternate Prince with McDyess if we remove the 1st and add filler. Looks like a balanced highly potent lineup to me. Detroit ends up with a ton of capspace in 09 and gives their youngins more court time to develop.
  7. he still has to pay tax on any income over $80k he can claim as expenses living abroad.
  8. I think he lasts 2yrs overseas at most...everyone is targetting 2010 for major caproom...the biggest obstacle for childress now is returning to NBA believe it or not...if he gets hurt overseas...hes gonna be really screwed.. from the greek side i bet they'd workout a way not to pay him if hes injured and on top of proving hes not injured b4 a major signing stateside. Unless they revamp his jumper, i dont see his market value increasing at all.
  9. Outside of SnT can we move childress still or is that impossible...? Heck id take a $4m cap exception or so for him now if its possible to remove his cap hold and pick up another FA outside of using the MLE
  10. Thing is, opportunities arose which could of possibly lead to different deals, SNT or whatever...the important thing is i hope our GM isnt scared to pull the trigger like say Paxson in Chicago and furthermore overreacts to bad situations with bad deals. I hope Sund doesnt overreact now with a weird trade...
  11. Well i guess all Chillz has left to do is google Greek Supermodel and get accustomed.
  12. He might not get taxed from the Greek side, but I'm pretty sure he will still have to pay/report his earnings to the IRS on tax day... I could of swore the limit on income overseas was like $80k b4 tax kicks in...anyone know for sure?
  13. I'd think they would want to move one of mcdyess or sheed instead of amir. But that would be a separate trade. Funny thing is Amir in the arabic language carries the meaning of "Prince" as well :P
  14. Yah watched the heat bulls game...i dont expect Rose to be able to turn around the franchise that quickly...but his role is different then beasley's....so dont see whats the use of comparing them. Rose looks like he can still score at will when he desires too, but he does have that rookie pg look when he has the ball and isnt looking to score. He doesnt penetrate and cat/mouse the defense like paul does....trying to force a mismatch for his frontcourt. Beasley is gonna put up points and look much more impressive than durant while doing it. He doesnt shy from contact like alot of college scorers...he is good at finishing...not overly athletic, but has some quicks. He popped several baseline jumpers and a 3 to boot.
  15. Espn article mentioned that nuggets turned down billups+prince for melo...theres no way marvin+zaza will land melo.

"These enormous vehicles just continue to give money to the arabs." Some bullshit if i ever read some..its estimated 60% of the current price of gas is from speculation by investment banks and such....the price is basically fixed from the supply side idiot, they just determine how much of their resource they want to pump. Like saying dont buy from walmart, we dont want to give our money to the chinese.....
  17. Located under tonights daily dime.. NEW ORLEANS -- The Atlanta Hawks' search for a new general manager lost perhaps its most prominent target Monday when San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Dennis Lindsey withdrew his name from contention. Lindsey is in his first full season in San Antonio after spending 11 seasons with the Houston Rockets and has been reluctant to entertain outside interest after just 11 months with his new team in a new city. He was also pursued by the Milwaukee Bucks late in the regular season before the Bucks hired longtime Detroit Pistons executive John Hammond as their new front-office chief. ESPN.com reported Friday that the Hawks had established an initial list of four candidates in their search to replace outgoing general manager Billy Knight. They are Portland Trail Blazers personnel scout John Gabriel, Washington Wizards vice president of basketball administration Tommy Sheppard and Boston Celtics assistant general manager Dave Wohl, in addition to Lindsey. "Mr. Gearon has been terrific throughout the whole process and I greatly appreciate the Hawks' interest," Lindsey said Monday, referring to Hawks part-owner Michael Gearon Jr. "Because of family considerations and professional considerations, I've decided to stay in San Antonio." Lindsey is widely considered future GM material after his long stint with the Rockets and his move to San Antonio as the top aide to Spurs senior vice president/general manager R.C. Buford. After winning three championships in the past five seasons, San Antonio has been repeatedly raided for executives in recent years. The Spurs moved in quickly for Lindsey last June after Seattle (Sam Presti) and Cleveland (Danny Ferry) had hired away two of Buford's more recent assistants. Sources close to the process say that Knight -- widely expected to be fired after the Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs -- actually had the opportunity to stay with the Hawks on a one-year contract. But Knight elected to step down effective July 1 and is reportedly a candidate in New York to work alongside new Knicks president Donnie Walsh. The fast-rising Sheppard -- who works as a lead assistant to Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld and was a finalist in Seattle for the job that went to Presti -- is also believed to be a candidate in New York. Marc Stein is the senior NBA writer for ESPN.com. To e-mail him, click here.
  18. Last year memphis, miami, and seattle went the rebuilding route letting veterans go cheap. This year, look for New York, Phoenix, Denver and possibly couple other teams to let guys go..so there should be some valuable veterans available to use bibby.
  19. You need a damn good PG unless your running the triangle offense with Phil Jackson. But even Jacksons teams use SG's with great handles that dominate the ball like KOBE/Jordan (wade same way)... I think the case in point is the Celtics...their backcourt is holding them back IMO. Philly doesnt even have an all star, tough to use them as your theory debunker.
  20. I understand the chinese marketing...living in china the last few years..even old folks are devout Yao followers. Hes like a national hero...and theres a fast growing 1billion person market in china...not to mention the ethnic chinese spread out across southeast asia; Malay, Thailand, Indonesia. Yi was considered the rising star, following Yao. I was able to watch NBA games just about everyday on CCTV5 and the local sports channels, like GuangdongSports every morning. Usually they had a east coast game followed by the Rockets game around 10am. Even Star sports out of Hongkong would rebroadcast the Rockets game at night. It would be good to market Al though...the results wouldnt be nearly like Yi and china i think..but still worth every penny we could get. Im guessing the Latino market is really entrenched in baseball. I heard the NFL is making big strides though in central america.
  21. I think the biggest challenge for our new GM will be to find quality backups/role players in the 1-3m range which alot of the stacked playoff teams have. Theoretically, this is how i imagined a team roster should look like.... My Theoretical . Hawks 08 Star1 15m . Mike Bibby 14.5m Star2 13m . Joe Johnson 14.2m Star3 11m . Josh Smith 11m MLE06 6m . Speedy Claxton 5.8m MLE08 5m . Marvin Williams 5.6m FRR05 5m . Josh Childress 5.5m FRR06 4m . David Anderson 4.5m FRR07 3m . Al Horford 4.2m Veteran1 3m . Zaza Pachulia 4m Veteran2 2m . Acie Law 2m Veteran3 1m . Solomon Jones .8m SRR06 1m . Mario West .4m SRR07 1m . Jeremy Richardson .4m SRR08 .5m ------------------ . ------------------------------- 14players 70.5m . 13players 73m Top3 39m . Top3 40m Other Playoff Teams Top3 for 08 Spurs 42m Pistons 35m Magic 38m Lakers 50m Boston 61m Cavs 42m Hornets 44m Raptors 31m Jazz 35m Nuggets 49m Rockets 41m Suns 47m Mavs 50m I read somewhere most teams get like 70% production from the top3 players on the roster, why i included the list. I think our roster production is spread out across our top6 more like the pistons. Consider our top 3 salary b4 the bibby trade...must have been like 25m.
  22. Pulled this off Draftexpress...Estimates from some Player Agents represenatives... >The most interesting thing to come out of the seminar might have been the insight that was revealed about next year’s cap figures and the NBPA’s plans regarding the upcoming CBA. Next year’s salary cap is currently being estimated at 58.5 million dollars, up from 55.63 million dollars. The luxury tax threshold is projected to rise to 71 million dollars, up from 67.865 million this year, and the Mid-Level Exception is expected to rise to 5.55 million dollars, up from 5.36 million. These are not final or official numbers at this point, but rather the NBPA’s estimations, as they were told to us. Salary Cap 58.5m Lux Tax 71m MLE 5.55m I guess the weak dollar has given a little higher % increase year on year. Now someone crunch the numbers in their spreadsheet for resigning deals and staying under the luxury. I retired my spreadsheet after the deadline passed
  23. I dont know about a thug, but watch the Knicks fight again, he did throw that punch in the fight back when.. knicks vs nuggets There isnt any evidence that he would be a + influence off the court/lockerroom.. so there is definately some risk.. Its tough to move marvin+bibby+1st for him and figure out how to refill the starting PG spot. Maybe if Childress could net us Calderon...but i doubt it. A smoove trade would be interesting, but i would resist giving up another asset with smoove for him. And yah, he was unstoppable with the USA team, single handedly carrying the scoring load at times. But its like everyone says, it seem he has reached his peak at his young age...and alot of it has to do with his mentality.
  24. I think Julian Wright has emerged in the playoffs to be that childress like wing you talk of for New Orleans. I think if we are gonna move anyone, we should go for the whopper over the jr. cheeseburger.
  25. Except when your there for 6hrs and a boss is singing some patriotic song so its rude to leave while he butchers it and your ears! Hah they had one song i recognized...it was like a Will Smith song, then the video played and a white guy was driving around in a place like Hong Kong (tall buildings, packed)...threw me off...i was like what the *#&% ... it was like bizzaro world there sometime :P
