  1. Wow, all i can say im super pumped watching the game...been lurking in the shadows since trade deadline passed, but wow. GO HAWKS
  2. yah i started tuning out about 5 games ago. Still watching the games, but underachieving and really...looks like the hawks are playing pickup games..not org ball. We have been better from the perimeter, but now we are giving up points everywhere.....feels kinda like watching the olympic/world games in ?2004? (teams raining 3's on us, high expectations, bad results)....
  3. Yah really looks like the shooters come out the woodwork once one (bibby) gets them started...
  4. From what chi town people say, its for pax to fully evaluate/play noah and thomas. Looks like gordon might be gone this summer or its gonna be a pricey backcourt.
  5. All they gotta do is load the backend of smoove/chillz contract... not a big deal if luxury tax is giving you nightmares.
  6. I dont know what the fuss is about...we took advantage of the expirings, gaining an asset. Bibby expires next year, means he can be flipped for more assets from a contender if he doesnt pan out here. We still have great longterm flexibility, after next year. My outlook (personnel wise) now is sign smoove. Sign chillz for ~5m per, or S&T if hes 6-8 per, package with Speedy if possible. If bibby+johnson backcourt doesnt get us a 2-5 seed next year, id think about moving johnson b4 2009 trade deadline, get a cheaper sg + picks and sign another pg depending on laws play. Trading bibby as an expiring would be an option too. I still see us as being pretty flexible, with zaza+bibby as expirings, childress/johnson as trade assets. ASG just committed to take on salary for 08/09, which is great, because we need to know whats holding us back.. Woodson? Johnson? Size? Taking on salary shows that they are committed to make changes and hold people accountable. BTW, im a johnson fan...but if we cant win around him with bibby, barring injuries etc...hes still worth 2-3 quality players/picks, why i would consider moving him next year.
  7. Yao's mid range game looks better than any of our guys tonight...you cant even go small because we dont have shooters...it crossed my mind to let joe just chuck up bunch of shots in the 2nd, when we were shooting 25%..but thats not gonna happen :x
  8. Let the fallout between kerr and D'antoni play out in the playoffs....if the Shaq trade bombs...maybe we can get the coach that can make our roster decisions as well... Imagine mike coming here to build his running team with the young talent we got and ridding ourselves of woodson..then again we got the cockblock provided by ownership to get around
  9. Well looks like an unofficial arms race has begun on the western front..the 2 week cold war leading up to the trade deadline I can see San Antonio adding depth (stoudamire alone wont be enough), Dallas should be in the mix somewhere too... I think gm's will get more antsy as they see contenders take on risks, get stronger, while middle of pack and conservative gm's hold onto their chips waiting for perfect scenarios (paxson?). Personally i like generous trades in the league...gives the league more life than holding your superstar till death do us part (JO).. For us, i dont see much trade partners outside Milwaukee/Memphis unless we are looking for picks in return. I wouldnt mind some of seattle's players, but they dont seem to be in a hurry for 2-4 yrs..they might want to shed contracts (watson/ridnour) b4 a move(?) and have the Beasley/Durant OKC show? If we dont make a move, i just pray they are willing to pay both Josh's...letting one walk for nothing would blow. edit: hmm wonder if we could market childress to pho as mini marion ... get back our 1st or work our way around getting barbosa(BYC)..barbosa+(skinner/piatkowski) works for childress+(salim/west).
  10. Nothing worth mentioning.. asked about transition from 1yr at UNC to nba.. going back to get his degree... Hawks losing, whats going on.. Woodson job security, threatened by trades.. But marvin kept it low key, just said they trying to get back to defense and rebounding, which will solve all the probs
  11. Lue and Pach did good off the bench today, cant turn a blinds eye to that. Even though Pach has regressed and Lue's obvious faults, if they could consistently produce within their roles off the bench...would go a long way. Im all for Joe taking a break for few games b4 the allstar game to heal up... give law a few min's at SG along with the point. But even then, he has no confidence in his own jumper...i think woody might have gotten on him too much for the early shotclock jumpers hes missed in the past... So encourage him to score and abuse opposing PG's, get to the line some for a change, and hit those FT's.
  12. Well they had 3 malcontents, and moved/finished them all off in a week (stoudamire, gasol, swift)...even though they could have gotten more for them (consensus). Gives you some idea of the owners state of mind... About the Rose thing...well maybe if Rose was at memphis for 4yrs..but only 1 and gone? maybe the late round picks are to pick up his teammates :P
  13. Kyle Lowry only makes $1.5m per 2yrs...expiring wont mean anything for that. But maybe you can get him for expirings with cardinal or Miller and guy on rookie contract. They would probably want picks if anything. But, i see Navarro wont sign with them this summer, PG's of Conley/Lowry, with Miller/Crittenton at SG maybe.
  14. I think if we dont trade for a big contract, we should split resources into two trades...one centering around childress, the other centering around shelden/pach and expiring to strengthen bench. Like Shelden+salim+2nd rnd pick for West(expiring)+wilkins(3yr $3m per) from SEA..switch shelden with childress and see if they give us back a 2nd pick if that is low ball offer. That gives us scoring off the bench in wilkins who leaked to the press his displeasure in diminished role (west has too). West is combo G who can pass but better at scoring. We try him out and if he is worth it, resign him for 3yrs at 4-5m per. If we still have childress after that somehow, trade him + fillers for a 2009 protected first and avg big, to middle of the pack team looking to solidify roster in playoffs. The future first is so we can keep adding low price talent after we are over the cap. Basically Childress is worth a 15-30th 1st rnd pick, while shelden isnt. I see Childress as expendable if we are looking to trade b4 the deadline for scoring help or PG. If we stay the course, resign him in summer and the shooter at Midlevel if we can find one or sign n trade him.

    Sene watch

I think i read the draft express brief on him in the D-League, and it said his PG is basically growing his confidence with easy roll to the hoop scores, guess kinda like Nelson gives to Howard, easy im taller than you 2pt dunks/lay ins. So his offensive "skills" are less impressive than the ppg hes putting up. Heck heres the link.. draftexpress saer sene blog Its not easy teaching a big how to use his body, doesnt matter how tall you are if you dont know how to shield your shot etc...we see it all time, bigs that cant finish, no matter how tall they are...Yi for example (he cant finish in traffic unless hes on the move, standing still he sucks even tho his reach is huge). Bigs so used to punking shorter guys they never develop solid post/big skills. So i really would have to reserve judgement until i see if he even knows how to pivot
  16. Sit Joe since hes obviously overplayed, i'd do it leading up to all star game so he has a good 10days to heal. Looks like sit him against Houston (FEB9) bring him back Feb 19th against the Lakers. Run Acie at the 2, encourage him to find his shot. He would be going up against Head/Alston combo in Hou, RIP/Chauncey, and McInnis/Felton in those 3 games. He wont be overmatched size wise.
  17. When our PG's were injured in november, i started to jump on the salim bandwagon...i had not seen him play much b4 that...and lue wasnt looking so hot at the time and AJ wasnt the only option...but man its easy to see he's not bringing much to the table. He moves his arms alot and postures alot, but you cant mistake that for defense. But our roster is what it is...weak. Hes gonna really have to work this summer to make a guaranteed contract after we let him go. Id also rather have West activated, you can see West flying in for offensive rebs and contesting shots. If we traded him as filler b4 deadline, i am sure we could get a d-league guy that can be more productive...
  18. Feb 22 i think...someone get on nba2k8 and double check!!
  19. i think some of you guys forget we dont have people who can consistently hit the jumper to run...unlike those west coast teams that are 6-8 deep in shooters... We'd need acie and salim to at least shoot 45% + on jumpers at least..add marvin and joe..maybe..but our roster has too many issues imo.

    FA's 2008...

Trade Chillz and pach for expiring and picks, then we could go after calderon. Arenas might be just out of reach at 13+ per yr?
  21. I remember when there was 7min left in game, after couple 3's by outlaw...i was like WTF we playing like theres only 1min left... Our guys definitely hesitate on offense down the stretch...since we dont have a high % threat on offense...its give it to joe, and whole offense stands still watching him... For me we lost when we stopped the double off the screen on Roy and allowed him to go 1 on 1...no bodies to make him pick up his dribble early or even take a charge..sorry, you cant contest every shot up top, gotta make people pick up the dribble before they want to. Zaza didnt play so bad..he got beat on help for Roy couple times, but Josh got beat 2x and joe like 3x down the stretch. He got caught in no mans land 1-2x too, but that was pretty much pick n roll issues which our whole team sucks at. We got outscored by 16pts in second half, 41-57.
  22. #3 I dont think we trade shelden for an expiring contract..
  23. Hoping someone takes some charges when Outlaw drives sunday..best way to slow him down i think. Other than Smith taking a charge on aggressive post players, I dont remember last time someone else got a call..
  24. I wouldnt trade Joe...but that trade is too much i think: ATL gives up: Joe, Shelden ATL gets: Gasol, D.ST, Navarro. Stoudamire has negative value to them i think...If that wasnt enough, would have to exchange childress for shelden, but we would have a small ass backcourt.
  25. I havent watched Bibby play in a few years, but hes definitely attainable for that deal. Throw in Garcia to backup our SG/SF too. I think that Bibby is resisting the 'new' guard in Sacto (martin is #1 option now, salmons and garcia good off the bench) and has playing time issues...the 1st rnd pick might be over the top, but they have some assets that can even out the value. Change AJ with Lue imo, since AJ probably means more to us then them. If we dont get an SG out of them, package what we have left for SG/SF, maybe wilkins (hes been upset about his lack of minutes during his slump).
