    Alright Skip Bayless show your self. If you are disappointed with the way Trae plays, you have to have some deep seeded old school way you see basketball and if a player doesn’t fit that mold you can’t get over it. Trae Is NOT selfish. He literally leads the league in assists with DJ on the squad. He shimmies and put on a show because this is entertainment and he understands that element of the game too. He plays to the crowd not for his own selfish reasons but because he knows you need a strong fan base to go deep in the playoffs. It is weird to me me how people pop up out of no where just to hate on a part of the game he struggles with. Trae is carving out a path for us to win our first ever championship and this is what you choose to focus on. Sorry, you asked for the flames. Remember Murray joined the team Trae les to the ECF not the other way around. I love Murray’s game too but we don’t need Trae to be Murray. We need Trae to be Trae.

    People have to get used to the idea that Trae is the shooting guard on this team. He needs to shoot and shoot a lot. To me it is his reluctance to shoot that is causing some issues. He is so use to having to create his shot or a shot for others. With Murray in the line up and the offensive plays set up, he is getting the ball off of curls or in a position to shoot but is hesitating. Then he comes back and tries make up for hesitating and then shooting too quickly. This is an adjustment for everybody on this team. I have zero doubts about Trae’s game and loves the way he plays. I am sure his teammates do too.

    On a side note Keegan Murray reminds of a Tim Duncan except in a small forwards body. Dude is gonna be good.

    My final thoughts on this game is like someone said in another thread, this is a different team and they are winning in different ways. Defense seems to be the consistent factor while the offense comes and goes. This is the sign of a true contender. If our defense can keep us in every game, when our offense explodes, we will be unstoppable.

    That might be true but I just want to see somebody go all in on him to see what he’s got. It might cost them their job but if they hit they will be GM of the year. Lol.

    Let’s start with height and wing span. Only 1 inch difference. Next is skill set. They both play guards that can dribble pass and shoot. Lastly defensively they can block shots at a premium but don’t have enough weight and strength to bang in the post. If you look at Wemby’s highlights and Bol’s Oregan highlights, you won’t see much difference. Oh and injury wise, guys with bodies like that are injury prone. That is what made Bols stock drop before the draft and what Wemby must avoid.

    I have seen nothing from that says he can’t be great. Everybody is drooling over Wembenyama, but this guy is essentially the same. I think coaches confuse his demeanor with being lazy or not caring but I don’t think it is a fair assessment. They also want him to gain weight but that is not in his genetics. Free Bol Bol! I like that Orlando is giving him minutes though.

    It was interesting they still have him guarding the teams best player even though he was a guard in KPJ. If Murray had taken that assignment, Dre would have had a better defensive outing. When Dre starts to get the benefit if the doubt from the referees his defensive presence will be a lot better.

    He showed improvement in every area I wanted to see in that first game. Let’s hope he can keep it up.

    Yeah Porter was cooking last night. But it was mostly coming off screens. Dre always gets screened off of the best player.

    If you think this is going to be a bad rebounding team, you should not worry long. I think the reason the rebounding was so lop sided in the game was the poor shooting and uncharacteristic misses from our guard play tonight including Young. It generated a lot of rebounding opportunities. Granted our defensive rebounding wasn’t great either but we have really good rebounders on this team.

    Every championship contending team has that guy. Scrappy veteran who knows all the right buttons to push at the right time. The one willing to do all the little grimy things to get wins. Sometimes it’s a starter like Draymond but other times it is role players like Bobby Portis. We shall see.

    Everybody has kind if hit on all the nice things we did bu I wanted to mention Justin Holiday. I think he will be a lynch pin in our success this season. He really understands basketball and his role. His level of urgency is perfect and I hope it rubs off on the rest of the team. He is the veteran presence needed for this team.

    Well, i am surprised he signed that deal. Shows he really wants to be here. I still think we need his upside to kick in if we want to be championship contenders. I hope he doesn’t settle into what he has been doing up to this point. It is a good deal though. I was willing to wait and pay a premium if his play jumped.

    61 and 21. This is a best case scenario. I think this is the best hawks team we have had so I want them to have the best Hawks record. Only problem is the East is a beast this year so….

    Yeah everybody was missing bunnies and clevlands rabid energy for a preseason game didn’t let us get into a rhythm. Hope Clint’s thumb is ok. Otherwise it was a good outing. I noticed they played Trae like Miami did so it is good for the team to see that in the preseason with Murray so they can make the right adjustments. This was really about Jalen Johnson and he looked good. It was also nice to see AJ continue his excellent play.

    Those games didn't seem like preseason because the atmosphere was so lit. Full crowd, stars, half time show and starters getting real minutes. Saw everything I wanted to see in those preseason games. Next up, the Jalen Johnson show.
