Jalen likely has cold and flu like syptoms. Same thing that took DJM out for a couple of days. The fact that they have to test and wait 24 hours for covid is likely the reason he will miss the flight. Once he clears that, they will fly him over separately.

I am not even concerned about whether his numbers are better. I am concerned about his effectiveness on wins. When Solomon Hill started for us, his numbers were atrocious but his effectiveness was an all time high on wins. The only time I can remember Dre being essential to wins is the New York playoff wins and that one game against Doncic the the first time we played the Mavs this year. I would wait to pay him next year even if the price is higher because he really needs to show he can push us into championship contention with his play. If he does that, I can see a John Collins type deal.

Yes, that’s what I mean. The whole reason they do the take foul is because they intend to foul them and not let them score but they let the ref know. Now they will just watch the player get a free lay up or run and pretend like they are making a play on the ball with the intention of fouling them while they are in the act of a fast break dunk or lay up. People are going to be hurt by this.

Personally I think the no-take foul rule will lead to more injuries. Hopefully our guys can avoid that. But I think this team will be drastically different this year. We will generate a ton of fast break opportunities especially with DM and JJ on the court. Also I think Clint will be back in shape running the court like he normally does. Our defense will be better in general which will lead to more break opportunities. The only problem with that style of play is that it leaves a ton of time on the clock for the other team to score. That is why Nate likes to slow down the offense and play with a slower pace. It will be interesting to see what Nate commits to.

I think they would go Jday if Hunter got injured. If it is late in the season I can see them starting Bogi at the three. If they are forced somehow to play JJ at the 3 and he does well, then that could shake up some things. I see Jalen playing 15 mins a game as apart of the regular rotation mostly at the 4.

I love how Dejounte shifted the question about how good him, Dre and Clint could be on defense. He said we all could be…will be good on defense. That is what he expects and he loves defense.

I feel you. You are more conservative in that aspect, I am leaning forward on it. Mainly because if he reaches his potential, we are a better team overall.

Didn't someone have a thread discussing minutes distribution? I wonder how many mins John, Hunter, OO17 and JJ will get at PF considering that John may get some minutes at center? JJ can also play 3 front court spots where as OO17 only two.

The only issue I have with this is 6 mins is not enough to establish a rhythm. And if he is relegated to standing in the dunkers spot or in the corner, he won’t get a chance to does what he does best. A team has to let young players learn on the job and give them rope to mess up and correct. The earlier in the season we do that, the better off we will be down the road. Basketball is not that hard when you already have the skills. Every time he has ever played more than 25 mins on any level up to this point, he has been the beast player on the court.

When I say green light I mean let him play basketball. No plays, just hustle mins. He has an all around game so it doesn’t mean he will get the ball and jack up shots. He can rebound, bring the ball up court, and pass. He has good off ball help defense and shot blocking capability. And I am only talking 15 mins a game. They can call a couple of plays for him like a lost post screen lob or a pick and roll but I envision him getting most of his points off of put backs and transition plays. Of course he needs to show he can do it in practice but we have already seen him do it in summer league and the gleague. It is also clear that Scheilds has created mins for him by our offseason moves. Clearly he has earned a shot.

I agree with this. The real fans, and there are many of us, know every detail of what has happened to this franchise for many years. We understand basketball and above all carry the spirit of the city itself. Many of us have an underdog mentality and are patiently waiting for the dog to have it’s day enjoying the journey the whole way. It will make winning it all that much sweeter.

Hopefully that includes Bogi, JJ, and AJ.

I want to know who was the point guard on Trae’s HS teams. Must have been a bad mofo to push Trae to the two.

What is his issue? I thought he was alright but they were just being conservative. Feels like the Cam/Dre situation all over again. I will say if he is not ready physically the Hawks should not rush him. However, if his is ready physically, he needs to play as much as possible. There is no better teacher than experience.
