He could be our Draymond, skill wise. Our he could be a Simmons like player. Someone has to commit to him and give him a high bar to shoot for. At minimum, if Gallo is cut he should be first for consideration of those minutes.

Seems like everybody is in rude mode because alls the same rumors are circulating. None us know what will happen. It won’t stop me from trying to figure it out with slivers of information I have.

Their games also mesh well with each other. When you match that with the rumors about Mitchell and Gobert not getting along with these recent rumors of Utah and the hawks, I am just putting two and two together.

Donovan Mitchell is dying to get John Collins on his squad. I wouldn’t be surprised if Utah dropped it’s asking price for Gobert to get Collins. Maybe even send a pick our way. For the record I am NOT advocating for John’s departure. Love what he brings to our team.

Interesting. Ayton has a higher ceiling the John. Whether he reaches it is another thing. I would love a squad that looked something like Ayton, OO17, Dre, Olidipo, Trae. With GP2, Bogi, Kevin, JJ, Mitchel Robinson, Duece Coop, and Wesley Matthews coming off the bench. For shits and giggles, bol bol, a championship vet, and our second rounder to fill out the roster. I know oddly specific.

Dre still has a lot to prove. I love the stat about him defending the toughest players each night. I know he gets tired of those screens, especially the ones where they are kneeing him in his legs, but his effectiveness is still not where it needs to be. We need to have a better defensive scheme around him. It seems like we just say put Dre on the best player and if he gets past Dre, Clint will clean it up. That’s not fair to either one of those guys. On the other hand Dre has to play with more effort and purpose and learn how to use his fouls. Needs to play the same way on offense too. He seems to walk around on offense and drift to the corner on every play that is not specifically called for him. He should be more active cutting to the basket, setting hard screens and rolling off them demanding the ball and most importantly crashing the glass after every shot goes up including his own. The only way this team gets into championship contention is if he does those things and the rest of the team holds up their end of the bargain.

Does anyone think that if Boston loses another conference finals that Jalen Brown would become available? He would be great with this team. Perfect fit next to Trae.

I would bet that if we had a Dallas vs Atlanta finals, it would be the most watched ever. The media’s head would explode. Way too many story lines and arguably the two best players of their generation.

If I had to choose someone from the list, it would actually be Simmons if we didn’t have to give up much. Zach would be the best but it will have to be a SNT and too much would have to go out and we take back a big contract.

Karl Anthony Towns Victor Olidipo Zion could be had too if he actually desires to play for the Hawks.

With the mid level exception can the Hawks spend up to $159M?

The nba cap is a soft cap. A thousand ways to manipulate it. The trick is identifying what constitutes a competitive team.

Cutting Gallo ($15 M) and letting other free agents walk will generate some funds. Also, may have to go into luxury tax this year. I know it still may not be what others can offer, but we may have a better team around the potential free agent that might make him choose us.

I think this offseason TS has to be aggressive and determine exactly what it will take to put together a true contender. Once he identifies that, he has to shake the trees to get what he wants. I think he has 3 ways to get there. 1. Offer top dollar to free agents. 2. Consider SNT for up and coming stars 3. Consolidation trade of our younger valuable pieces for a megastar player who is already under contract. We have the ability to do all three. TS is excellent at identifying talent and fit but he has been “allowing” the market to work and get best value. He will need to “dictate” the market this year. In follow on responses I will state what I think needs to happen in each of the three categories above. What do you think we need to do in each of the categories above to create a contender?

Putting this into perspective, we all knew this playoff run would be an uphill battle. With John trying to get back into the flow of the game and missing Clint it makes it even tougher. When Trae twisted his ankle his play was really affected by that. Now with respect to Nate, this is where he had to get creative and try and manufacture some momentum. A good example of how Spo switched up what he was doing to gain momentum was he started to full court press. We made no adjustments. Furthermore, we never tried to press off of our made baskets even when their starting point guard was out injured. Still have to trust Nate going forward but he has to be challenged to get better too. I think Lou’s back is ok but Nate decided to go with Delon for major rotation, while this makes sense, it puts you in a jam when you have injuries or matchups you can exploit with Lou. I don’t think his assistants added anything to this team this year.

That’s bs the bill is going to come due on Lowery.

I think they should pair him and John off the bench with John Collins. Have John pick and roll and and Gorgi pick and pop.

Our knick knack injuries are starting to catch up with us. Lowrey’s slick roll into Trae’s leg was on purpose. So was Mobley’s lung into Clint’s leg. If we manage to scrap our way into a few victories, my respect for this team will climb to a new level.
