  1. Again bottom line is no matter how much you hate Thad Young he's twice the player THJ is. THJ was on a bad team why didn't he put up better numbers? We gave up more to get THJ than they did to get Thad. It's really that simple for me. Even if both trades were bad there's was less bad. And yes I would have preferred Thad for our 15th last year over THJ. He could have helped us at SF and Pf, and THJ helped us nowhere.
  2. Again you are fixated on player names. I don't care about the players and our opinions will vary on players. It's about value. Let me explain it differently. We traded a lower pick for a player that gave us nothing last year, and now he only has one year left on his deal. Indiana traded a pick 5 slots lower for a guy that will start for them. Let me go ahead and cut off the he won't start argument; even if he doesn't start he will be a valuable part of their rotation. Plus he is already signed to a reasonable contract. WTF does Oubre have to do with this argument? We have no idea who we would have drafted. Bobby Portis was there and yes he is and will always be better than THJ. I don't see how any logical person can look at those two deals and think our deal was better.
  3. If you think 11 million for Thad Young is alot your delusional. He 's been a better player than DeMaree and Baze and both guys will likely be making 15 million a year soon.
  4. I think you guys are missing my point. It's not about Thad Young it's about value. We traded the 15th pick in the draft for the 10th man on a team bad enough to draft Porzingis 3rd overall. Pacers traded the 20th pick in the draft for a guy that's at a minimum a proven 6th man and is a serviceable starter imo. If you can't see the difference between those two trades we may as well stop discussing. I never once advocated trading for Thad Young for us, but he is a great fit for what Indiana is trying to do.
  5. I think the overwhelming evidence so far is we are bad negotiators. Let's forget about the OKC trade because they seal clubbed Budcox on that one. How about the pacers trading the 20th pick in the draft and second for Thaddeus Young. Thad is already signed to a reasonable 11 ish million a year deal for 3 more years which makes him even more valuable with the salary boom for starting level players. Compare that to our THJ trade last year and it's laughable. I've got to give Bird alot of credit on his off season; I'm a fan of his moves. Bird has been saying he wants to play a faster more open style; adding Teague and Young accomplishes this. I think Indiana has solidified themselves as a top 4 team in the east, and they haven't even hit free agency yet. The best part about this trade is they stay flexible. They can test Teague out a year and if he doesn't fit they let him walk and keep the cap space.
  6. I can't figure out for the life of why this kid fell. I really liked him and would of been fine with him at 12. There's got to be something I'm missing here. How does Thon Maker go and not him? Did he not work out for teams or something because he thought he had a promise?
  7. That's really not that hard they can trade to teams under the Cap for picks. I looked at ESPN trade machine if they trade Kanter and and Ilyasova they are there. With Sabonis coming in that makes Kanter expendable. They could also trade waiters and another filler player if they want to keep Ilyasova. Trading two or three players is not difficult if your doing cap dumps and they are actually good players.
  8. I have to admit if I'm Al I'm leaving. He's been loyal to the Hawks for years and we continue to force him to play guys that out weigh by 30 to 50 pounds nightly. If OKC came a calling I'm on the next thing smoking. He probably needs atleast 24 million a year to leave. Who wouldn't be happy doubling their salary and winning a ring? I've got a feeling Al manages his money well, so he'll be set for life no matter what.
  9. I agree with both of you guys Beasley & Prince would have been ideal, but I'm 100% convinced Prince would not have been there at at 21. Most of the players projected to go before Prince went after our pick, so there's a good chance he would have been gone. I don't think this is a very good SF free agency class after Durant and Batum, so I can see why they would prioritize that position. They seem to still like THJ too. I maybe would have preferred Timothy Luwawu to Bembry since we already picked Prince but I like both players. Ultimately I think they wanted baby Sabonis and Prince, but OKC deficated on BudCox and took him.
  10. I've have to admit my first thought after the Ibaka trade was they are making room for Horford at PF. It just makes too much sense. Donovan is the OKC head coach and won two rings with Horford as his best player in college. Rumors of Kevin Durant wanting to play with Horford. To a lesser extent Horford wanting us to draft Adams. I'm sure they would have to free up some cap space, but they actually have players people want. I do think Al Horford will take less to win a ring. Al's never struck me as a money guy. He wants to win a ring. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't like how these tea leaves are reading. OKC, San Antonio and Golden state front offices are tops by far. I'm worried about them coming fo Al. I know most you aren't though because he sucks and no team should pay him :).
  11. 100% agree how many people wanted Denzel Valentine? He's a stat stuffer too. How can you not love this pick? He's Denzel with actual NBA athletcism and two good knees. He's a better defender and his only glaring weakness is 3 point shooting. I'm done doubting can the Hawks improve players 3 point shooting. Sap, Carroll, Baze check check check. I love the versatility in both picks. Prince is more 3/ small 4 and Bembry is more 3/2. Prince can guard 2, 3, and 4's. This is good because they can play together and gives us lots of lineup and matchup posibilities. My gut says we thought baby Sabonis would be there for us, but OKC flanked us and snagged him. I think we likely wanted Prince at 21, but I don't think he would have made it. All those overrated players fell past our pick. Bottom line is we got guys that fit and mitigate some of our know weaknesses.
  12. I'm kinda surprised with the hate on on the Squawk, I saw Taurean Prince and Bembrey thrown out on this board alot as a desired players at 21. Prince was the third player on my want list for the Hawks after Malik Beasley and Caris Levert. Bottom line is don't get your panties in a wad about the Mocks because this may of been their worse year ever. 100% of mock drafts had Levert in the middle of the second round and Beasley at the back of the first. I told you we would be lucky if they made it to pick 21 and neither did. You let these Mocks convince you that Henry Elleson, DeAndre Davis, Labiserre, Forkmaz, Timothy Lu(whatever) were going in the lottery. I probably would have taken Beasley at 12 and hoped Prince fail to 21 with Bembry as a backup , but make no mistake about it we are better because we added to versatile wing defenders that rebound and have potential as scorers. If your going to play the hedging switching d we play with our bigs than you need wings that can rebound. See Golden State. If you want to be angry about something it should be about what we got for Teague. I see Ibaka and Teague as similarly valued players and Sam Presti got 3 times as much as we got for Teague. Think about how much better we could have been with that Orlando deal. Unfortunately they don't need a PG and we're not smart enough to pillage Orlando like OKC did.
  13. I thought we would have a good chance at Evan Fournier, but now that OKC pants Orlando on National Tv. I'm guessing they are resigning him. I thought with Oladipo there they wouldn't match a decent offer.
  14. I agree we did this trade to get the cap space because it doesn't feel like number 12 pick is fair compensation for Teague. The Hawks must know they have a FA willing to sign. Kevin Durant iscoming and we go'n sizzler we go'n sizzler.
  15. I think Jeff is going to ball out in Indiana. I really appreciate all he did for this franchise, and I think this is the right move for both the Hawks and him. I only wish we could have gotten more for him. I'm surprised Sacramento wouldn't give us the #8 pick for him, because there won't be a PG for them at that spot.
  16. Agreed, I think my point is I don't believe the mocks this year. They are all over the place on players. I've seen guys in the lottery on one mock and the second round on another. There are tons of stretch fours and fives and euros that averaged 4 points a game being projected in the lottery. This all based "potential" and jumping over chairs in empty gyms. Shooting against air. I'm not buying it. I suspect Guys like Sabonis and Beasley will go much higher. GM's should be smarter than bleacher report, but I'm hoping they are not.
  17. I heard about the rod too, but we need to take risk. This is the same logic that had us draft Sheldon Williams over Brandon Roy. Billy Knight ended up being right on Roy but he had an amazing 5 ish year run where he was one of the better players in the NBA. I would take that over 10 years of the Landlord any day. If anyone can play with a rod in their leg I'll bet on the 19 year old to recover. If he didn't have this issue he wouldn't be available to us at 21, and he still may not be.
  18. He's two years away from being two years away.
  19. In my heart of hearts I don't really believe he'll be there at 21 despite what the mocks say. If he's gone I would draft Taurean Prince at 21 and make sure we come away with Caris Levert in the second even if we have to trade up. He's another guy that would be in the lottery without his injury history. Picking as late in the draft as we are you have to take chances to find a potential star. Timothe Luwawu at 21 would be be nice too, but he's seemed to have raised his status into the lottery.
  20. Malik Beasley should be the pick. If we were gaga over Devon Booker last year then Beasley is a more athletic explosive version. He can put it on the floor and hit floaters already and can yam too. He shot better from the field and shot damn near 39% from 3 as a freshman. He also was at Florida State and not surrounded by all Americans at every position and put up better numbers Imo. 5 rebounds a game from a SG. I can't figure out why this kid is so undervalued but I hope it's real. Maybe it's the injury thing, maybe it's playing at state versus Duke, or perhaps not being a top prospect out of high school. I don't care what it is but we need to take advantage. Dude is a legit well rounded scorer with great feel for the game. But hey what do I know. I thought Bobby Portis was a great fit last year and I watched us pass on him and trade our pick for a player renovation project.
  21. If you read my post I think you'll see we agree on Bogut and Thompson :)
  22. Congratulations Cavs fans. We all knew Lebron was the best player in the game and he just reinforced it in this series. That block on Iguadala won them them the game IMO. Golden State has some soul searching to do. There were far too many bad shots early in shot clocks and behind the back turnovers and it cost them. They looked like a team that really started feeling themselves. The Bogut injury was much bigger than people thought. Ezeli and Varajo were terrible. They missed bunny after bunny and allowed Tristan Thompson to get off. Golden State really is a sum of their parts much like the Hawks. They just have better scoring and two way playing parts. With all that being said Cleveland really exposed Curry's and Thompsons lack of athletcism and propensity to jack long threes instead of drive to the basket.
  23. I think he said "I got the drink in me going back to back". I can't substantiate those rumors though. If only Meek Mill had followed Jeff's lead.

    DeMar DeRozan

How available is Bradley Beal? Do you think Washington will match any offer?
  25. Cavs and LeBron are a team full of front runners. As Dicken's would say they're the best in the best of times and the worst in the worst of times. They can't bully the Warriors, so they are getting owned. I wish they had gotten swept.
