  1. If we trade with Denver, then I would like to get Malik Beasley back. I still believe he has more upside than Prince and is buried behind Gary Harris and Jamal Murray. We can steal him hopefully.
  2. Franchise - Your favorite players favorite playerLeBron - most physically superior athlete we've seen. Physically he's the Wilt of this generation, yet he's so skilled. KD - all time great scorer that will hold every scoring record when he retires. Showed a very well rounded game this year and did all the little things to help GS get that ship. Good D on LeBron in finals when matched up with him. Leonard - most complete player in the NBA now. Top 5 scorer and number 1 defender. Was shutting down KD before his injury. Modern day Scottie Pippen that developed elite scoring ability. Curry - torn on him. He's in a perfect situation to cover his flaws. Anyone of the above guys could shut him down in a vacuum. Honorable mention Chris Paul. Best PG of this generation. Can't ever seen to find the right team. To bad he jumped the gun or he might be a T-wolve. That would have been a real contender. That's it: James Harden plays no D and is a free throw line superstar. He struggles to maintain his level when the superstar calls stop in the playoffs. Westbrook is a chucker that's teammates will always suffer around. If he matures he can become a Franchise player. His mental approach is holding him back. Early Jordan mental approach.
  3. Morey talked about this in the presser, they generated trade exceptions. I believe trade exceptions can be better than straight cash homey if you are planning to go over the cap, and you can always renounce them and get the cash back if you're under. They are probably going to try and trade Anderson so they can add one more max player; then use the exceptions to round their roster by taking contracts teams want out of or trading picks.
  4. Arent these the same scouts and talent evaluators Danny Ferry brought in? I never saw a single hiring after he left on the scouting side, so I'm not sure the drafting would have changed much unless he was ignoring all the work his staff was doing.
  5. This is really a 2 man race between Anthony Davis and KAT. I would give the slight edge to Anthony Davis, but it's ever so slight. The fact that AD only plays about 2/3rds of the games because he's injured makes it hard to pass on KAT. AD is a career 29% 3 point shooter and Kat is like 36%, but AD is better at steals and blocks. I can't choose, so just give me them both and I'll figure the rest out later. Non 2 way centers are not worthy of this list like Nurkic and Jokic. Also, how dare you leave Dwight Howard off this list.
  6. Exactly, I don't think it has anything to do with his injury history or declining as a player because he still produced 10 ish win shares last year. That is ironically his lowest total in the last 6 years, but clearly still far superior to most player in the NBA. I would like to see Chris Paul win a ring. He's never been on a team I thought should win a championship. Before Blake the best player he ever played with was David West, and Blake always get's injured in or before the playoffs.
  7. I think his player option to opt out gave him a defacto no trade clause, so Houston had no competition. If they send him to a team that's offering more, but he threatens to opt out; the receiving team backs away. Chris Paul has no incentive to weaken the team he's wants to got to, so he get's traded where he wants with little coming back. The alternative is losing him for nothing as he opts out, so it's probably not as bad a hull as we think. I think they did get a first too, so I'm actually mildly impressed. I hope we can swing something like this for Millsap too, but I think he has already opted out.
  8. Chris Paul produced 10.4 win shares in his rookie year. Dennis Schröder has produced 7.6 Win Shares for his entire career and had 3.7 last year. Chris Paul has played 12 years and never had an Ortg less than Drtg, my man Dennis has never had an Ortg surpass his Drtg per 100 possessions; translation Dennis has never produced more offense than he's given up. Chris Paul top 3 career similarity scores Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson. Dennis top 3 career similarity scores Frank Kudelka, Andrew Anderson and Bill Tosheff. Not crapping on your post; I just want your realize how outlandish the first part of it sounds. I like Dennis too, so it's not a bash Dennis post. It's just Chris Paul is a huge upgrade for anyone, although I don't like the fit with Harden either. However, let's not forget Harden didn't always dominate the ball in his career. He blended well with KD and Westbrook. I really wish the Hawks were in a better place so some of these stars would be trying to come here. We are seeing one of the biggest movements of stars in NBA history, and we're not ready to capitalize. I don't see how we couldn't put together a better package than what the Clippers just got, but we have nothing for Chris to play with if we trade our young assets away. This off season is making me sad.

    Summer League 2017

Really looking forward to the first John Collins vs Lauri Markkanen matchup on July 10th summer league. Larui was first on my realistic options board for the Hawks and John was 3rd. I thought we would have to trade up to get either of them, so that should be a fun matchup.
  10. You're saying the same thing I'm saying. Which is why I upset with the sweeping statement Koonin said about bigs in the paint. If you're big man free agent you see those comments are you coming to the Hawks? Marc Gasol and Randolph both play in the paint a lot, and Randolph isn't a shooter but is skilled around the basket. As far as getting rid of Dwight I'm fine with it; I just don't like selling assets for pennies on the dollars to division rivals. My comment about the Kool-Aid remains. This organization has earned no benefit of the doubt on blindly supporting their moves.
  11. I agree but realistically star players aren't coming unless you can bring them in pairs. Mason Plumlee is preventing us from having two max slots. Couple this with the Hawks free agent history and it's probably not as valuable as it would be to blue blood teams like the Lakers. They said they are not rebuilding so that is a not rebuilding stay flexible move that allows you to compete. You get two max slots when Plum and Ryan expire, or trade them the year before as expiring deals.
  12. This is a forum of thought and discussion, none of us know what's going on internally including you, but I don't need to be inside to talk about public perception because it's public. If we had ever won anything of significance; I would be swinging pom poms right along with you. This organization has a long history of ineptitude, and has earned no leeway to not be questioned. Why would I have any confidence they are doing things right when the best players in the league avoid us like a plague? Enjoy your Kool-Aid I won't be partaking. By the way, Dwight was so trash the people you trust so much made him our highest paid player exactly 1 year ago.
  13. Fair enough but it has more to do with the talent of those bigs than them being bigs. Which again I ask why paint yourself in a corner by making sweeping statements about bigs in the paint. What happens when a real big with talent becomes available; would he come to the Hawks? You open yourself up to negative recruiting by other teams. We already have a hard time getting free agents. If any of those bigs were talented enough to punish GS for going small they would have done it. Alonzo Mourning would have fouled KD out in a New York minute trying to guard him and Draymond Green. I think the two teams that have given Golden State the most trouble were San Antonio and Memphis. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol give GS fits. I keep saying this, but if LeBron can't beat GS playing their game then why it's everyone else trying to? Milwaukee is the team that's built match up with GS imo, but I'm sure Jason Kidd is not the coach to get them there. They should be further along than where they are and regressed two years ago. They can play stifling defense and are extremely long, and can punish any switch GS makes. They need a real PG though.
  14. Don't forget the alternative could be getting nothing for Sap. As long as Schlenk feels those deals are moveable then it's probably better to get movable assets with value. Worst case scenario is we have a ton of cap room in 19/20 with Plum and Ryan coming off the books. Hopefully we trade them as expiring deals a year early though.
  15. If Schlenk gets to sign in trade Millsap then I'll take back everything I said bad about him. Assuming we don't return Mason Plumlee :) Lemarcus would be a good get for Sap, and he would still be moveable if it didn't work out. For Minnesota I think KAt will play PF and Patton has a higher upside than Dieng if he could fulfil it. I'm not sure I see a log jam there as you need backups. From Houston I would consider taking Beverly and Ryan Anderson plus a a lottery protected first for Sap. Gives us a competent backup PG that can play D when Dennis is getting torched, and the stretch big Bud covets. I would have to check the length of those deals first though and make sure they end before or coinciding with Plumlee's. Haven't checked if salaries match on espn yet, but I bet it would be about right.
  16. I'm sorry Steve Koonin's answer is a complete cop out. The four centers in the championship Zaza, Javelle, Tristan and Channing. 3 of which can't shoot outside of 3 feet, and the one that could shoot is worse defensively than Dwight on the perimeter. So he expects me to believe he saw that quartet and that made him say hmm time to get rid of Dwight? Just own it Steve you guys wanted him gone; don't try to make sweeping statements about bigs in the paint and the changing game. He did the same kind of BS when they got rid of Ferry. Bottom line is this organization was incapable or unwilling of integrating Dwight. If they are unwilling to make changes to Bud's system incorporate him then own it. Don't blame Dwight for not being a floor spacer because he's never been that. Say we messed up and he doesn't fit the 5 out system we want to run. We brought him in because we got tired of Tristan Thompson assaulting us on the boards. He filled that role but it wasn't enough with the loss of Teague and Al. I guess the Hawks are going to bad mouth every player that leaves now. Al was smart to leave.

    Summer League 2017

Hell yea. I think that wide spread panic banner will have some company after this Vegas Summer League. Cordinier/Dorsey/Bembry/Taurean/Collins. With the Alpha picked Omega coming off the bench? Championship!
  18. I already mentioned it in the draft chat, if John Collins starts he has an excellent chance of being rookie of the year. I could see him averaging a double double as a rookie. Knowing Bud though he'll have him in the running for D-League MVP. Tyler Dorsey reminds me of Eddie House. Tony Delk to a lesser extent because he's not as fast or explosive. Alpha never heard of him, but he looks decent. Good draft and stash guy. I would give this draft and A grade. Got the 3rd guy on my board for the Hawks at 19 when I thought we would have to trade up to get him. Added 40% three point shooter that took a ton of threes(large sample), and a stash big. I would ding them for pick 31, but that was a separate bad trade.
  19. Yea people doubling The Dream gave Kenny Smith a career and rings. Unfortunately it gave him a broadcast career too.
  20. There are two types of players in the NBA. Those that can draw a double and those that can't. John has a chance to be one that can draw two. You want as many players that can draw two as possible. With Millsap gone we have none. Cavs have two and the warriors have two.
  21. You post made me think about his free throw rate. He's absolutely one of the best bigs in this draft at getting to the line. His free throw rate is off the charts. This team needs someone they can go to when jumpers aren't falling. Tired off having bigs that don't get to the line.
  22. Yea Al used to be a good rebounder in the NBA too before the pec tears. I think it's a fair comparable. Al was much better and tougher defensively, but Al was a Junior too, and played on a defensive team. I think John is the better offensive player. Al didn't extend to the three until late in his nba career and Al's release was slower.
  23. John Collins has a nice stroke and he's all ready really good in the mid range. Even if he never extend to 3 he would be really valuable. I see no reason why he can't extend to three; he's already a 75 percent free throw shooter. I don't know many guys that can't shoot that shoot that well from the free throw line. Traditional bigs aren't dying because they can't play; it's dying because AAU and and every big wanting to be a guard. David Robinson, Shaq, Olujawan would all still dominate because they were skilled and could move. Post isn't being taught, so if you can't shoot what else can you do? You don't think Al Horford would have been a better player if he had learned to post up efficiently? He might have been a real superstar. He was too limited offensively only being able to shoot. The key is versatility and being able to attack at all levels. The best players can be a threat to score anywhere on the court.
  24. Great site man I like their charts and analysis of players. I will definitely use them for next year's draft preparation.
  25. He was 3rd on my board behind Malik Beasley and Caris Levert. I still think the other two will be better in the long term, but I liked Taurean a lot too. He was the safest pick of my top 3 and he did not disappoint, and I even think his offensive upside is better than I thought. His defense was a little suspect, but I that's normal for rookies. Especially rookies that played zone their whole career.
