Jalen could be the JC to DJM’s Trae on the second unit. Remember how good Jalen looked playing with Rife, and then imagine him finishing lobs from an All Star PG now. Scary thought.

As much as I love the Isiah/Dumars comp, I’m not sure we even need examples to prove it can work. Playing Devils advocate, there’s not much data available to prove it can’t/won’t work either. So, the beautiful reality that we are left with is we can do something that’s never really been done before, and write our own story. We can stop saying we are the Spurs East, Warriors East, etc… and just be the Atlanta Hawks with two top tier playmaking guards that are in their prime and keep the pressure on defenses for 48 nonstop minutes. I like the sound of that much better than hoping we can imitate any examples from the past.

Love Trae talking about championships. If you can’t speak it out loud, you can’t achieve it in real life. Doesn’t mean it WILL happen. But no team accidentally wins a championship. It’s either a goal, a mindset and focus, or nothing at all.

You don’t go from playing only in the lane to a 3-point shooter in one offseason. I wish people were more realistic about this. Still very encouraging that he may be shooting in the midrange. I do not see him at the 4 much unless that is next to Kominsky. I CAN see him playing PF for defensive possession lineups. OO still has huge upside and swing potential. Excited for him this year.

Compete/mindset/effort/urgency

Stephen A has already hinted that there is more and that those deets justify the punishment. He says it will get out at some point but he cannot share or comment until they do. He only questions why did the organization have to leak this situation publicly. Basically implying that it’s very personal and nobody’s business. Im guessing a sex tape got around. Or Nia Long tried to fight the mistress. Something scandalous but not illegal ya know.

In the way that we agree he shouldn’t be suspended for a year if that’s all it was. Hence there “must” be more we don’t know yet that justifies the punishment. I don’t believe it’s anything malicious or cruel, but definitely bad enough that a championship minded organization would make a decision like this without any known pressure from the league or public to come down on Udoka.

I’d imagine that he will have a similar impact on improving the shooting of others as he did when he was a player in uniform with us. He wasn’t a shooting coach back then, and by all information he isn’t a shooting coach now. He will give his helpful tips along the way but he isn’t focusing on or drilling shooting mechanics everyday. He will prescribe generic development programs for everyone on the team, and rely on someone else to teach. Just my guess.

When you deal with constant blind hate towards your team it’s only natural that you arm yourself with as much information as possible to defend yourself from the attacks. We are jaded, hardened and generally 2 steps ahead of all of our critics lol

Tatum really isn’t all that either. He has continuously come up short when trying to be a go to guy in clutch situations. He is not THAT dude

Capela was in the open runs with Trae a few weeks ago Bogi is injured and had a surgery Jalen was on the court in the background in a recent video posted by the team. Nobody really cares about the other dudes you named

I hate our approach of wait, wait, wait, wait, ok fine let’s do the surgery. I know they do this for the best interest of the players because you don’t want to force them to go under the knife if they don’t have to. It just seems like our medical team guesses wrong too often and delays the inevitable. I dont know what is wrong with AJ but if surgery is an option I wish they would just do it now and not wait. Let him get a head start on recovery.

Murray was drafted in 2016, so he has been in the league 6 years even though he missed an entire season with injury making his “experience” technically only 5 seasons. Similar to Simmons getting an extra “rookie “ year even though Murray’s happened in his 3rd season.

Our FO would not come out and make that statement for any player not named Trae. Nor should they. Everyone should be available for the right price. That’s good business sense. But that doesn’t mean we should have a trade watch thread for everyone on the roster. Just because they could be moved at any moment. The deals don’t even bother me as much as our own stubbornness on here that posters got so excited about the idea of moving him for something new, (fed by insider rumors, not publicly from JC or the organization) that it’s like they can’t accept the fact that they may have been wrong about him or how much he is actually valued by our franchise. Every statement that has come from Hawks PR is that teams were calling for JC, and we did our diligence to listen. But that we were NEVER actively trying to move him. That’s the Hawks position on JC. Anything else you heard was just some rumor. So for me, that’s enough to say he is safe for now. Just as much as any guy on our roster. Lock thread

Agree. You don’t have a transition when you are inbounding the ball. Murray’s DNA is to grab and go with the ball. Something we have been missing for a while.
