  1. This is ridiculous- there is no way that Crawford holds out and gives up his 10 million dollar contract this season.
  2. Personally I don't get why on earth anyone would pencil in Teague as the starter. No one taken in the 20's should ever be expected to become a starter and Teague's rookie year was a disappointment. If Teague isn't the answer at PG then the Hawks stick with Bibby to start and have Crawford finish the game just like last season. If teague can turn into a quality backup PG then to me thats a bonus.
  3. I really just hope he doesn't end up signing with the Magic for the minimum. I think he would be lethal if all he is asked to do is lurk in the corners and bang out 3's when people double Dwight.
  4. I would have picked Bogut but it was an awfully close call. And as I recall Bogut was barely in the discussion.
  5. The hawks problem against the magic on offense is that they too often settle for long 2 point jumpers and you want the hawks to shoot more long 2 point jumpers. The Magic are thrilled to let teams shoot long 2 point jumpers all day.
  6. Do you hear Al Horford talking about wanting to be the best player in the league?

    Is CP3 worth it...

Horford should still be a RFA after this season so I think its highly doubtful the Hawks would let him leave (though in theory the rules of restricted free agency could change to make Horford unrestricted). I just think that some team like the Nets will throw the max at him because they have nothing to lose.
  8. Deisel- once the Hawks were willing to guarantee a 6th year max to joe there was no question he was going to come back. With combo guards like Teague and Jordan Crawford on the roster Jamal is just too expensive of a luxury unless he takes a HUGE paycut.

    Is CP3 worth it...

Of course thats worth it. But to be honest I don't think that either trade is close to what it would actually take to get him. I'd prefer to include Horford just because we know that Smith is locked in to a reasonable contract for the next 3 years and I think that Horford is going to get maxed out this coming offseason. Though hopefully under the new CBA the contract won't be too disastrous.
  10. The Hawks could max out Crawford if they wanted to regardless of what the cap is. But the luxury tax is the real issue. The ASG are not going to pay the luxury tax for the third best team in the division.
  11. ITs unfortuante for Crawford that his breakout season came right as the Hawks are butting up against the luxury tax line and With Horford's contract looming I just don't see any chance at all that the Hawks extend him without knowing what the rules for the luxury tax will be under the new CBA.
  12. henry is just worth more than that.
  13. Of course he isn't the worst contract in basketball. You don't think that the Knicks would be willing to trade Eddy Curry for Joe right now? As long as teams are willing to voluntarily take the contract then it isn't the worst in the league. If Joe's play slips at all then it will become increasingly bad but at least right now its not close to the worst.
  14. Put it this way. Someone requested the ESPN insider article that mentioned Jordan Crawford. To me the proper balance is to quote just pieces of it where if you want the whole thing then you should sign up for ESPN insider yourself. Instead someone went ahead and posted the whole article. There is no question that reduces the demand for ESPN's insider service and if a site like this chooses to leave those full articles in the posts then I can't see a good justification why there isn't legal exposure. I know on realgm you are suppposed to quote just 3 paragraphs and then link to the article. I have no idea what the guidelines of this site are but the realgm policy seems pretty reasonable to me.
  15. The internet is a place where you CAN exchange your own ideas for free. People should also be able to choose to charge for reading their opinions if there is enough demand. And if you choose to circumvent their attempts to make money then I think there should be legal consequences.
  16. If people are breaking the law by posting information that another person is charging for then I do think there should be legal reprocussions. I agree that in many situations its counterproductive to charge but I also think that people should be allowed to if thats what they choose to do.
  17. niremetal- just because you wish people would give away everything for free doesn't mean that people should be prohibited from charging. It very well may be counterproductive for those publications to charge for their product but they should absolutely be allowed to if they think that is in their best interest. If you think they are wrong then just ignore the articles that you don't think are worth the money.
  18. I don't have any problem at all with the lawyer going after people that post entire articles. Particularly when people are posting the entire contents of articles that you ahve to pay to read. If a newspaper wants to charge to have people read their stuff, maybe it is a poor decision and they will just end up alienating their readership. But they should have the option of charging for it if they want to. Just because someone is too cheap to pay the $4 a year to have ESPN insider access doesn't mean that ESPN is screwing people by charging. If you don't think the articles are worth the money then thats your choice. If they ahve a product good enough to charge for then I think they should absolutely be able to get the benefits from that and people should only be excerpting and linking. Newspapers are struggling massively- I wouldn't take a newspaper even if they were free just because I don't want the clutter. SO I really don't begrudge pulbications from trying to make money however they can.
  19. Buzzard- Gary Forbes also averaged 17.8 PPG. Nick Young was the 3rd leading scorer.
  20. Juan Dixon to me is the best comparison for Crawford.
  21. James was #2 on the list. Harangody was #4 Caracter was #5 Landry Fields was #6 Stephenson was #9 Lawal was #13 Rolle was #15 Ebanks was #17 Evan Turner was #20
  22. Does anyone have any stats about how many blown leads the Hawks actually had compared to other teams? I think that fans of every team are just oversenstive to blown leads and just don't notice as much when it happens to every other team in the league.
  23. I agree- Chris Paul doesn't get much say in this matter. His only leverage would be to threaten to play this season and then next season and then opt out of 18 million dollars to sign in FA without knowing what the rules of Free Agency would be by then. Not much of a threat- thats why he wants a trade now so he can just sign an extension under the current rules with his new team. Thats all well and good to say where he would like to go but unless he goes to a terrible sitaution I'll be shocked if he doesn't sign an extension wherever he is traded to.
  24. The deal I penciled in would be Paul, Posey, and Okafor for Crawford, Smith, Evans, and Teague. That would bring the Hornets way under the luxury tax. It would give the Hawks their starting PG and their starting Center plus they would still have the MLE to add complimentary parts.
  25. So how many million dollars are you putting towards the goal?
