Did anyone notice that we might have a new "0" on the roster... moreover in the backcourt...? (Forgive if this already came up earlier.... haven't reviewed the entire thread.)
  2. I feel your pain. But it's not really anything new to me. Been waiting for a genyouwine 3 and D SF for a long while. Sure Thabo qualifies for the D part, but isn't a consistent threat on offense. At least now we have a genyouwine 3 and D SF on the roster.... as Abraham Lincoln once remarked, can't win the lottery until you buy a ticket. Ticket bought.
  3. Hmmmm. That's really all I want to say, superstitious soul that I am.
  4. My ledger is a few hundred thousand off from what hawksfanatic's shows, but not enough to matter. Then, too, under the circumstances, it merits mention that we might still be ~$1.2m under the cap.... i.e., if Scott's situation evolves and his contract gets voided after all.
  5. To be clear, I don't think we're going to be "in trouble" per se, but obviously we see this roster's likelihood of exceeding the success of the previous era differently.
  6. Bazemore is good-to-outstanding defensively with those tentacles he has for arms, and the hustle he maintains. A major story line of this season should be that our starting guards rival some of the best defensive duos in recent NBA memory. Should. It's up to Dennis and Baze to make it happen.
  7. Pretty sure we haven't already dove into what ever Room MLE or standard MLE (wishful thinking?) we'll have to spend, but yeah, the roster slots situation is all the more tentative given Scott's situation.
  8. Keep him in the rolodex, Wes. Just in case. And especially if at some point your hired gun(s) get that ATL D-league team established.
  9. Waiving Lamar suggests we don't need his salary to make any deals happen, no? I think this is our roster. I'm not happy about that, myself, though I know a lot seem to be, so I'll try to focus on the good so as not to be a party pooper... and not that it's that hard to see this roster exceeding the results of the Horf-Teague era if one assumes Prince comes out the gate strong and earns starter minutes if not actual starter status. If he doesn't? Well, like I said, I don't like to be a party pooper, so I'm just going to ignore that possibility and root like hell for Taurean Prince, not exclusively but especially, to thrive. :D
  10. True that earlier one possibility was that he might not even be guaranteed. True that now that it has, he's on the roster until a trade.... or, more in the line of my anticipation that he will be dismissed.... once that would happen, his contract is voided as if it was never signed. Last year, that was a concern because though he would have (and still would) come off our books, there was/is no provision in the CBA that allows us any additional exception to pay someone else the $3.3m we otherwise would have been paying him. But right now, it's not as big a concern since we would have that amount of cap space to replace.... though, still, finding a player who produces what Scott produces at $3.3m would be a challenge.
  11. To be precise, Scott's availability has nothing to do with whether he's in jail or not. If he gets a $5 fine, ie any conviction at all, on the molly charge, he's automatically gone for two years. And actually, Moose did have a role in the playoffs, which baffled a lot of people b/c it seemingly was at the expense mainly of the minutes Hump might otherwise have played. I posted a thread a day or two ago under the title that Moose is nothing to write home about, but also nothing to sneeze at.... his production at this point of his still young career can be compared to a slightly-better-scoring, slightly-lesser-rebounding version of Zaza. For $1m, that's worth keeping around at least another year to evaluate.
  12. He's as much, if not more, a big PG as he is a small SF.... he'll get time in all three roles, I'm fairly certain.
  13. Count me as skeptical. Not as skeptical as Supes. But skeptical. 1-15, maybe, but Bud only plays 10 in most games for any substantive minutes. 1-10, I'm not inclined to agree that we're better. I hope to be proven wrong, as I think Supes does as well. Said it in an earlier post today, key to me is Prince. If he can earn a starting role, my optimism meter needle leans right.
  14. Intriguing thought. He'll be 31 going into the 2017-18 season.
  15. *buzzzzzzzzz* The correct answer was "Who is Tim Hardaway, Jr.?" :D
  16. 1. I've been counting out Scott all along, but I could still yet be wrong or right on that, of course. Through it all, though I've been counting him out, I've been hoping to be wrong b/c he represents so much value at $3.3m even under the old cap.... all the more, now. He's shown a capacity to dominate for a quarter or two, particularly in the scoring column where we can use all we can get. 2. Splitter ($8.5m) + Patterson ($874k) = $9,424,636 x 150% = $14,136,954 + $100,000 = $14,236,954 Gay = $13,333,333 What am I missing? 3. Yes.... *ding* *ding* *ding*.... correct answer is, I forgot Hardaway. Oops.
  17. Then again, one would think Scott would want to expedite things if any conviction at all seems likely.... ie, if there's a plea deal put on the table that takes jail time off the table, one would think Scott jumps at that so he can get back to the league as early in the free agency season as possible in 2018.... that is, assuming he can be sure he's going to make $3.3m or better laying in China (or elsewhere) for the next two years. Am I missing something in saying that?
  18. Here's another possible reason the Hawks wouldn't want to release him, mentioned in an earlier post... if he's under contract if/when the NBA voids his contract, we alone hold a reinstatement exception to sign him at his current salary when he returns, ostensibly at age 30... and the later in the year this goes on, the more likely that that could potentially come into play, as cap space and exceptions space become more scarce.
  19. Point well-taken... I suppose, though, it really is all depending on the judge's attitude toward the defense's requests for delays... true?
  20. I take it that, with the Howard/Bazemore presser tomorrow, we probably shouldn't expect any more player movement until training camp.... yes/no?
  21. I'm still lost.... why does it matter.... it's still entered into the court record that he's pleading not guilty for the sake of the court knowing how to proceed (ie, with setting a trial date), no?
  22. Well, yeah, but Diaw plays whatever position isn't otherwise on the floor... imo, he's penciled-in as a back-up PF, but it depends on the day and the opponent. So, but I realized after I posted this, I missed something on the 15-man.... did you or anyone else catch it? (I bet @RandomFan did.)
  23. Interesting thought. Theoretically, if I'm looking at the math correctly, Jack's vet min signing would technically push us over the cap. But then, no, you're still at 16 players on the roster, so something's got to give before the season starts.
  24. What differentiates a formal plea from an informal one, and, maybe associated with that(?), why does it matter that he waived arraignment?
