  1. Love was drafted in 2009 Irving was drafted in 2012. So who after 2009 do you think will be in the Hall of Fame, that played PF or PG? There are a few obvious ones, but that isn't going to be a long list at all. And for the Hall, you DO need the numbers as well as the playoff accolades.
  2. Love 1 NBA Championship . . celebrated for his defense vs perimeter players in Game 7 5x All-Star . . . and with a weakened East, should make 2 - 3 more All-Star teams ( especially if he leads the Cavs in scoring, and if they stay a playoff level team 2 All-NBA teams Currently at 11,000+ pts and 7,000+ rebs. There should be no reason ( other than injury ), that Love shouldn't reach 18,000+ points and 11,000+ rebs. Every person who has reached those numbers are in the Hall of Fame. Irving 1 NBA Championship . . made an iconic shot in Game 7 to seal it. 5x All-Star . . . same parameters that went for Love, goes for Irving. He should make multiple All-Star teams 1 All-NBA team Currently at 9,600+ points and 2,400+ assists at only age 25. If he gets to 18,000+ points and 5,000+ assists, you'd think he'd be a shoo-in for the Hall. The only 3 people NOT ( or will not ) get into the Hall with those numbers are Reggie Theus: ( 19,015 pts - 6,453 assts . . . in 12 seasons ) Jason Terry: ( 18,881 pts - 5,415 asst . . . in 18 seasons ) and MAYBE Joe Johnson: ( 20,405 pts . . 5,001 asst . . . in 18 seasons ) . . . . 20,000 points normally gets you in, if your name isn't Antwan Jamison and Tom Chambers. Honestly, Kawhi may have the MOST work to do out of these 3, despite having his Finals MVP award. His prowess as an elite defensive player will help him, even if he doesn't end up with gawdy offensive numbers.
  3. 3 Hall of Famers 3 good young prospects 6 solid starters And all 30 and under. Great job.
  4. Pierce would have to be one of the worst coaches in NBA history for that to happen. I don't know how good he'll be, but there is no reason to expect our players not to develop, unless you just want to hate everything you don't agree with. That's not true. Pierce could be a dang good coach, and the team could still be losing. Minnesota, even with KAT and Wiggins, wasn't good in KAT's 2nd year. Thibs only won 2 more games than Sam Mitchell did in that season ( from 29 to 31 wins ). It took Minnesota trading for Jimmy Butler, to become good again. If we're not good in 2 years, that's much more of an indictment on Schlenk, than it will be on Pierce. This team does not look good AT ALL to be a good defensive team. Even if they're top 15 in offense, they could be atrocious on the defensive end.
  5. Denver 1994 is the closest thing to what you're talking about https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/DEN/1994.html But even they had 27 year old Dikembe and 29 year old Reggie Williams as key starters. On this team, Lin and Plumlee will be 30 by the time the season starts. Baze and Dedmon will be 29. Everybody else is 25 and under.
  6. So if this were a Spades hand, that's 3 and 3 possibles.
  7. With my draft virtually over, I need to select one of the greatest ballers of all time, that doesn't get to play, but is a tremendous cheerleader on the bench. I need a baller .... A TRUE BALLER. So with the 148th selection in the Hawsquawk Dynasty Draft, the Northcyde Ballers select ... JORDAN CRAWFORD Despite playing in only 24 regular season games in 2 years, Jordan Crawford continues to prove that he can score with the best of them. Spot up 3s? Check Midrange jumpers? Check Weird shooting motions? Check From an offensive standpoint, he has what it takes to play in this league. Defensively . . . . eh? But who cares about defense. When you do one thing well . . and that's score the basketball . . it shouldn't be taken lightly. Jordan was stellar in the 5 regular season games he played in this year, averaging 22.8 ppg - 8.8 asst on a Per 36 minute basis. He also posted career highs in PER ( 19.1 ) and Total Shot % ( 60.1% ). And the 14 quick points in a blowout at Golden State in the playoffs proves that he's still got it. But it is his past that haunts him. He's too confident in his abilities, which puts a negative perception on him. He's somewhat loose at the lips ( he tossed out an "allegation" toward Carmelo Anthony back in 2013, which was an extension of this ): Jordan's mouth and quirkiness may be keeping him out of the NBA. But in our franchise, we embrace abrasive and malcontent players, as long as you prove that you can put that ball in the basket. Heck, Lavar Ball is our Director of Marketing, so adding Jordan is nothing. We can handle him. One day soon, Jordan may have a moment like he had in the NCAA tournament. Until then, welcome to the Ballers!
  8. LOL ... how dare you challenge the eligibility of the TRUE BALLER. Thanks @AHF on the quick ruling.
  9. With my draft virtually over, I need to select one of the greatest ballers of all time, that doesn't get to play, but is a tremendous cheerleader on the bench. I need a baller .... A TRUE BALLER. So with the 149th selection in the Hawsquawk Dynasty Draft, the Northcyde Ballers select ... JORDAN CRAWFORD Write-up will come later. @capstone21 is up.
  10. On the road today, on an 8 hour trek to South Georgia. I'll check the site during gas stops. I have my guy in mind, but no time for a write-up until tomorrow. You all will LOVE my next pick.
  11. LOL . . I could've sworn that I posted the video. My bad.
  12. Looks like Vince's move to ATL has a little more to do than just basketball. Interesting comments when he talks about his role on the Hawks and what ATL may bring to him in the future. Good interview all around, talking about the state of the league as well.
  13. Hmmm . . . who can coach this squad? PG - Lonzo - Lou Williams G - T. Evans - Ingles F - Lebron - Kuzma PF - Porzingis - Carter Jr C - Cousins - Bagley - Howard Hmmmm . . . maybe. But I think we'll go another route. With the 141st selection in the Hawksquawk Dynasty Draft . . . the Northcyde Ballers select the 2018 NBA Coach of the Year DWANE CASEY We here in the organization know a good coach when we see one. All he did was be the head honcho of 3 of the best Raptor teams in franchise history. He took a team that was down in the dumps after losing their Hall of Famer - Chris Bosh - and steadily led them to the top half of the Eastern Conference playoff seeds. And I'm sorry, when the only guy you're losing to in the playoff is Lebron James, you get a pass. Sorry Lavar, but Casey has the temperament to coach this great mix of veterans and young guys. And after you made these comments . . . . we really can't trust you coaching the team. Casey has won 166 games in the past 3 seasons, so we'll roll with him. We we CAN DO, Lavar, is make you Director of Marketing for the Northcyde brand. We do admire what you have done with your independent brand, despite the lofty expectations placed on yourself. You take care of the marketing, but leave the coaching to Mr. Casey. @JayBirdHawk you are up ma'am.
  14. Whoa. Didn't know I was up. Gotta PM me. Sometimes I don't check all of the notifications, but if I got a PM, I check it.
  15. In almost positive that an MLK game will take place in ATL. It just won't be nationally televised.
  16. 22.0 NBA Efficiency Rating and a 20.5 PER last season for Dwight. This puts him squarely in the top 10 in centers in the NBA. A literal STEAL in the 11th round.
  17. Hi kids! Do you want to piss off your parents, ( or if you're an adult ), your significant other? All you have to do is buy 1 million of these little Orbeez balls and do something outrageous with them. In the NBA, every team needs someone to piss someone off. An agitator. A true irritant. But for that guy to be effective, he also has to show the ability to play the game of basketball. Unfortunately, this same guy has the ability to piss his own teammates off, including the fan base that initially embraces him, but acts like he's the devil by the time he's traded. You know him. You love him. With the 124th pick in the Hawksquawk Dynasty Draft . . . the Northcyde Ballers select DWIGHT HOWARD People can continue to sleep on Dwight and try to deny his talent. The facts are that this guy is still a HIGHLY productive center in the NBA. Just because he doesn't shoot 3s or set "high quality screens", doesn't mean that this guy should be thrown away in the trash heap. Dwight has averaged a double-double in each of his 14 years in the NBA. Last season in Charlotte, all he did was average 16.6 ppg and 12.5 rebounds, to go along with 1.6 blocks and 57% FG. If a lesser player put up these numbers ( cough ) Dewayne Dedmon ( cough ), or one of the rookies ( cough ) Marvin Bagley ( cough ). people would be acting like he's the best thing since sliced bread. But because it's Dwight, ( and because he doesn't change his game to the "modern NBA" style of play, along with his "quirky" personality ), he is shunned. We need quality production at the 5 spot while Demarcus is recovering. If young Bagley isn't ready to be that high level player right away, I know that I can count on Dwight to steady the ship in the middle, and be very productive in the middle. @capstone21 is up.
  18. I think the WNBA needs to change their marketing strategy. I consider myself a "basketball purist", in the fact that I appreciate the game no matter who is playing. I can watch a good game between 8 year olds, and get enjoyment out of it. Most NBA fans aren't pure basketball fans. They only follow the NBA, and nothing else. And to be honest, a lot of men are still sexist when it comes to women's sports. I don't think that will change much. The WNBA wonders why they can't get more women watching the sport. The surprising thing is that a lot of WOMEN are unconsciously sexist as well against women's sports, because they can't watch it the same way they can men's sports. Those women aren't "basketball purists" either. To me, here is the WNBA / Women's basketball fan base Seniors who love basketball . . . like yourself Basketball purists . . . like myself Families who want to watch live basketball, but not pay NBA level ticket prices Honestly, they should forget trying to market to, or please anybody else. I just finished watching the Dream vs Aces game. What a high quality and fun matchup to watch. Lots of points. Timely defense by Atlanta. Great individual performances on both sides. The best thing that league did, was to go to the 24 second shot clock. It has really brought out the skill level of the guards, and created a lot more open shots for shooters who can knock down 3s. It's also opened up the middle for the big people, who are some of the best players in the game. It is definitely my goal this weekend to make it to the home finale vs Dallas on Saturday. Just need to clear some time at work on Friday, and possibly get some tires for my car, and roll down to ATL on Saturday morning.
  19. And the Hawks are one superstar signing away from winning the East. The success of this year's picks will shape how the rest of the fan base view stockpiling draft picks. Trae has to be very good ( not a star, but above average for a rookie ), and one of either Huerter or Spellman has to be good as well.
  20. It is kind of outrageous though. Whatever pick we get from Houston is going to be no more than a role player, unless teams just missed a true talent in the 20 - 30 pick range.
  21. Excellent pick by Cap. I was leaning heavily toward selecting Jonas. He's an underrated center. Just need to show up more in big games. But let's go off the board a little . . For those of you are/or have housewives that like to do their own canning, or if you're a prepper preparing for a SHTF event, you may appreciate this book from the Ball Corporation. Being able to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables to increase their shelf life, is a great money saver. And sometimes in basketball, you need a role playing shooter who can increase the shelf life of your team as a playoff contender, without having to break the bank to go get a superstar. So with the 117th pick in the Hawksquawk Dynasty Draft . . . The Northcyde Ballers select JOE INGLES Don't let the look fool you. This dude can shoot the basketball. In fact, with a eFG% of 61% and a TS% 62%, Ingles has quickly become one of the most efficient shooters in the league. And the shooting form should look very familiar. He may not have the overall skill set of Larry Bird, but he can shoot that deep ball like him. Ingles has shot 44% from 3 in the last 2 years. His role on the Jazz has also increased, due to his versatility on defense making him an ideal team defender. He understands the importance of playing angles, keeping his hands at least above his waist at all times, knowing the ball handling strengths of his opponent, and proper positioning to effectively play his man in isolation. Welcome to the Ballers, Joe!! @JayBirdHawk is up
  22. Schlenk is trying to build his version of the Warriors. If the Hawks would've had the top pick, they probably still take Trae. While I disagree with Simmons' take on the trade from an Atlanta - Dallas perspective, I do agree with him about the potential impact of Schröder on the Thunder. Schröder and Russell WILL PLAY in crunch time, especially in situations whether they're not playing a big, high scoring backcourt. Dennis may very well win 6th Man of the Year next season.
