  1. I'm not sure how we take a huge step back? Our first is going to be in the mid 20's and that other first for next year is from the T-Wolves which is contingent on them making the playoffs. If they don't then it turns into another second rounder. And I'll take three years of Monroe over one of Al all things considered with money and everything.
  2. I won't go that far, but I'll say that the East is his to lose for the next three seasons with the current roster they have and with him playing at this level. And back to the topic of the thread, Millsap easily should/will be an All-Star but outside of that, we don't have anyone else worthy which is disappointing but it isn't like we were going to get four guys in every single year. Last year was a fluke in that regard, as sweet as it was.
  3. I made sure and posted this in the right area this time. Soaring Down South did a part two of their trade speculation (and no, this isn't for clicks, just for conversation). http://soaringdownsouth.com/2016/01/22/atlanta-hawks-trade-target-2-greg-monroe/ I think the Hawks do this deal in a second. It is the Bucks that might not be on board with it. Monroe for Horford, THJ and picks may no be enough unless they are going an entirely different direction. But that might not be too far-fetched as another site they link did a similar piece on how Monroe doesn't necessarily fit the Bucks scheme.
  4. I just can't get on board with anyone who misses Pero. Zaza I'll give you but Pero was atrocious when he wasn't hitting that outside jumper.
  5. Never too early to start taking a look at potential draftees. http://www.nbadraft.net/ranking/bigboard I've stated in another forum that I hope we don't have a first rounder this year as I hope we move it in a package for someone to help our team out this year, but somewhere in the mid 20's we would have a number of different players to choose from that could help. I'd love to have a guy like Denzel Valentine on the roster. I'm also a big fan of Gary Payton II if our pick was later in the 20's.
  6. That all depends on what you traded them for... And I don't understand the Cavs shopping Mozgov either. Getting rid of him and Love for Cousins seems stupid to me since I don't think there would be enough shots to go around in Cleveland at that point. Move J.R. Smith and it could work a little better.
  7. We are in agreement on it being his attitude and laziness and they are all his own fault and I've said as much, I just feel bad for players when they finally get to that realization and there isn't anything they can do about it anymore. Call me crazy...or maybe I just have a big heart lol
  8. Ah, yes. The Miami Heat. Give me a guy like LeBron and I'd never look at a stat like rebounding again.
  9. No disrespect to Al, because he was part of the core that turned this franchise around, but I agree with both of these posts. The media love him and so do a lot of talking heads. I just don't see why they love him as much as they do. He's a good player, no doubt about that, but he's never been a perennial All-Star and the Hawks have never won much with him manning the 5 spot. They criticize the Hawks for never putting a center around him and sliding him to the four, but then act like he's one of the best centers in the game.
  10. Worst rebounding team in the league... You won't win Championships like that.
  11. Don't see this happening unless they rid themselves of Lawson first. That's a hefty price to pay for three PG's (Teague, Lawson and Beverly). Plus, I don't think they really want to move Ariza. He's a good fit alongside Harden as he can stretch the floor, let Harden work and guard the other team's best wing so that Harden doesn't have to, because we all know how poor his defense is. Now, if they move Lawson then all bets are off since it would make much more sense. And I'd love to have Ariza. That would make THJ and/or Korver more expendable at the deadline.
  12. I don't want him here either. I was glad when we didn't resign him and it has clearly paid off for us. Still, I don't like to see players squander talent like he has.
  13. Honestly, you don't get better and that's why moving him is a necessity at this point. He'll provide cap space for some team heading into this summer, with the potential for him to fit their system and then be signed long term. Millsap has lived up to his contract as he's our most important player at this point. Teague is another player we could move, but I'd move him second. Draft picks will likely have to be involved in any deal, but it isn't like we are in desperate need of a mid to late 20's pick anyway.
  14. For what it is worth, I hope we don't have a first round pick after the deadline. I'm hoping new ownership realizes that the last thing this team needs is another late first rounder that won't get minutes. Use that pick to improve the roster for the playoff run.
  15. Baze will get his shot. As will Thabo and Millsap. I think you just throw bodies at LeBron at this point. Thus, the reason for my defending of bringing in Joe Johnson if the Nets bought him out. Just another body to throw at LeBron in the playoffs.
  16. I actually feel bad for Josh. I know it is his own fault for this situation since he won't change anything about his game to become a better player, which is the definition of hard headed. But I still feel bad that he has wasted the back end of his career like this. He's gotten paid but you know as a competitor that he wants to win. He'll have a chance with Houston again but I don't see them getting any further than the West Finals.
  17. If you look on the site, this is a piece that is a precursor to trade pieces that they are doing. I posted the Dwight Howard piece on here the other day. This piece isn't meant to suggest trades, only to show trade value. And if you want to give PH credit then go right ahead as they are a good source of info, but B/R basically takes things from other sites and puts them into a piece. There is ZERO to that involving any sort of writing or journalism. But PH posts these same types of fluff pieces in the form of videos and podcasts that really go over these same things. All sites do it because of what we are doing here. Talking about it.
  18. Be careful, someone might accuse you of just trying to plug your site......KIDDING But in all seriousness, moving Al is the only way I think that this team is able to improve the roster overall. Someone mentioned a Korver/Kanter deal above and I just don't think the Thunder would even sniff that with how valuable he is to their team. I think we'd be better of going after Adams if we wanted to work out a deal with the Thunder.
  19. The Blazers are one of the best rebounding teams in the league so we could be in for another long night in terms of rebounding the basketball. With Teague's ankles limiting him, I could see Lillard go for 40 tonight but I still think the Hawks win since the Blazers don't have much of a bench or any real post scoring...yet.
  20. I'd do this deal in a heartbeat, but what would Mack and Splitter provide to the Kings? Take WCS out of the deal and maybe Sacramento does it as long as they get our first rounder this year and maybe another pick somewhere down the road. Why would the Kings trade their lottery pick from this year and a solid wing for two bit players and a first round pick that will be in the mid to late 20's? Even if we gave them our 2018 pick (since you can't trade first rounders in back to back seasons) it wouldn't be enough because the Hawks aren't likely to be any higher than 20 then either.
  21. Agreed. Incorrect, although I do know one of their co-Editors, which is why I read a lot of their stuff. Would it help if I posted an article from Peachtree Hoops or ESPN? Would that make you feel better?
  22. Another option is that we don't bring him in and lose Horford to a max deal this summer. At least we get something out of this deal with that extra year of Howard, assuming he opts in which the article states would have to happen for this deal to get done.
  23. Sort of what I'm afraid the Hawks will do. Let Teague play out this season and when his value declines even more (if he's not healthy) then try and trade him and get less than we could today. It is clear this team isn't a Championship contender at the moment so some sort of move needs to happen.
