As I've said numerous times, the trade value of Horford is utterly ridiculous to some people on this board. As a soon to be free agent, looking for a max deal, with declining numbers, he isn't going to pull in the haul that most people think he will.

Successful? No. Failure? No. I'd give it a "meh". Pretty much what the entire season has been like. Or the last 10 years...

I wasn't a member back then, but if people were seriously upset at letting Smooth walk then they obviously were speaking through their hearts and not their basketball minds since Josh was an Atlanta native and was a fan favorite for a few years. I was a huge fan of Millsap. Didn't like the DMC signing too much so I was clearly wrong about that one. The truth of the matter is, there is no trade outside of us bringing in a super star, already signed to a long-term deal, that is team friendly, for our role players and zero draft picks involved that will make some on these boards happy.

The Hawks' chances of getting back to the ECF hinge on two things. 1. Jeff Teague getting healthy 2. Some sort of move at the deadline to improve the roster, whether that be a big splash or just a depth guy I don't like the long-term outlook for this team as it is currently constructed due to the core being 30+ aside from Bazemore. But all of that could change in a split second at the deadline or even in free agency this summer. I get mad at times with this team, but I've never given up hope and I'll continue to watch night in and night out.

If Baze commands a salary around $12M and then we resign Al to the max then this team is doomed to another 3-4 years of mediocrity. And that's not to say that I don't want to keep Baze, but we wouldn't be able to improve this team next season if that was the case, unless of course we made a trade of some kind. The year after we would have some money to spend with Teague, Splitter, Thabo, Scott (TO) and Mack (TO) off the books but then it would be time to g-up Dennis. Thus why I keep advocating trading Horford now and moving in a different direction.

It is that type of mentality that is going to put us right back to where we were with the Joe Johnson contract. How can trading Horford be laughable? He's not the player he used to be and he's going to command a max contract. Why wouldn't the team at least be kicking the tires to see what they could get for him. Clearly we aren't winning titles with him. But as I said on another topic, go ahead, sign him to that max deal. But when we are talking about the same problems next season, only with $25M less in cap space for the next five years, it will only be the organization's fault.

And please stop it with the whole picks thing. One is a second rounder and of the two first rounders, one will likely be a second rounder since the T-Wolves won't make the playoffs last year. So the only pick of value is our first this year, currently at #24 (http://www.nbadraft.net/2016mock_draft). The Bud/Ferry track record with draft picks isn't very good so I'm not sold on his evaluation of talent in college. Not a single player that late in the draft would help us next season.

Makes more sense than the Bucks giving up their franchise player for scraps. Let's not begin to compare the two trades regardless of whether or not you like the one I posted on here. Yours makes zero sense whatsoever as the Bucks would NEVER do that. The one SDS threw out there is much better. Too many people on here overvalue what Horford brings to the table considering his numbers are down across the board and he's about to get PAID in free agency. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but we aren't winning anything with him currently, so locking him up to a max contract in the offseason absolutely WILL NOT help us. And the other alternative is he leaves and we are stuck with cap space that we can't use since free agents don't want to come here.

One of the most disappointing losses of the season. I just went to bed and didn't bother with the alcohol.

You have got to be kidding me. SMH I love trades where the Hawks get a guy like Giannis and give up our scraps. Why on Earth would the Bucks give up a player like Giannis in a league that is dominated by wings. He is their franchise moving forward, so just stop with that scenario.

I'll take Millsap simply on his defensive ability. They are both gifted offensive players. Would love for them to switch heights and let Millsap be 6'10 though.

Have any of you taken a gander at the Suns' roster and what they are going to put on the floor tonight? No Bledsoe, no Knight, no Morris, no Teletovic, no Tucker, no Price, no Luer... If the Hawks lose this game tonight it might drive me to drink. All I keep thinking about is that Miami Heat game a few years back when they sat Wade, James and Haslem I believe and we still lost because Bosh went nuts. I feel like all Atlanta sports teams have that issue, they play down in games we should win.

I agree that the Hawks' roster decisions have been suspect at best over the last few seasons. We don't have our first rounder from two years ago, we traded away our first rounder last year for a guy who is just now starting to crack the rotation (and I'm hoping he keeps playing well because I am a fan), we let DMC walk and really didn't add much to replace him other than acquiring Splitter, which was the type of move I would have loved at the deadline last year to improve that team. BUUUUUUUT...that was under old ownership and they just didn't have the desire to spend money like Dan Gilbert does. Making moves like the Cavs have done and are doing is all about how much your owner will let you spend. But it can be a double edged sword at times because the Cavs have very little flexibility moving forward with the roster they currently have. If they don't win a title this year then I'm not sure what they do to improve the team. The Nets were willing to spend big a few years ago and look how that turned out for them. What you need is a good mix of an owner who doesn't mind spending and a GM that knows what they are doing. I'm on board with Bud "The Coach" but I have questions about Bud "The GM".

I won't go that far, but I'll say that the East is his to lose for the next three seasons with the current roster they have and with him playing at this level. And back to the topic of the thread, Millsap easily should/will be an All-Star but outside of that, we don't have anyone else worthy which is disappointing but it isn't like we were going to get four guys in every single year. Last year was a fluke in that regard, as sweet as it was.

I just can't get on board with anyone who misses Pero. Zaza I'll give you but Pero was atrocious when he wasn't hitting that outside jumper.

That all depends on what you traded them for... And I don't understand the Cavs shopping Mozgov either. Getting rid of him and Love for Cousins seems stupid to me since I don't think there would be enough shots to go around in Cleveland at that point. Move J.R. Smith and it could work a little better.

We are in agreement on it being his attitude and laziness and they are all his own fault and I've said as much, I just feel bad for players when they finally get to that realization and there isn't anything they can do about it anymore. Call me crazy...or maybe I just have a big heart lol

No disrespect to Al, because he was part of the core that turned this franchise around, but I agree with both of these posts. The media love him and so do a lot of talking heads. I just don't see why they love him as much as they do. He's a good player, no doubt about that, but he's never been a perennial All-Star and the Hawks have never won much with him manning the 5 spot. They criticize the Hawks for never putting a center around him and sliding him to the four, but then act like he's one of the best centers in the game.

Worst rebounding team in the league... You won't win Championships like that.

I don't want him here either. I was glad when we didn't resign him and it has clearly paid off for us. Still, I don't like to see players squander talent like he has.

Honestly, you don't get better and that's why moving him is a necessity at this point. He'll provide cap space for some team heading into this summer, with the potential for him to fit their system and then be signed long term. Millsap has lived up to his contract as he's our most important player at this point. Teague is another player we could move, but I'd move him second. Draft picks will likely have to be involved in any deal, but it isn't like we are in desperate need of a mid to late 20's pick anyway.

Baze will get his shot. As will Thabo and Millsap. I think you just throw bodies at LeBron at this point. Thus, the reason for my defending of bringing in Joe Johnson if the Nets bought him out. Just another body to throw at LeBron in the playoffs.

I actually feel bad for Josh. I know it is his own fault for this situation since he won't change anything about his game to become a better player, which is the definition of hard headed. But I still feel bad that he has wasted the back end of his career like this. He's gotten paid but you know as a competitor that he wants to win. He'll have a chance with Houston again but I don't see them getting any further than the West Finals.
