  1. A quarter of the way through the season and Denver, Dallas, and Phx are in the last playoff spots in the west. That surprises me to be honest. Anyone think those teams will stay in the playoffs? Currently out of the playoffs are Golden State, Memphis, and Minny. Barring injury the first 5 spots in the west already seem set with Portland, Okc, houston, SA, Clips So who gets those last three spots ?
  2. Some of those assists were actually turnovers that fell into his teammates hands. Kidding. Congrats to him. Don't want him back but glad to seeing him doing well.
  3. I officially know nothing about his game but just learned he went to Norcross high. I'd think okc would jump at the chance to get Lou.
  4. That sucks for Zaza. I'm hoping we can trade for him in the last year of his contract so he can win a championship with the Hawks.
  5. This is all colored by a ridiculous premise that Ferry is some kind of ivory tower asshole. Somehow despite his 'wrecklessness' he managed to sign korver, milsap, and brand, three guys that are at the stage of their career where they are chasing titles. Yet they signed on to a rebuilding project. Smoove hasn't said anything bad about Ferry other than confirming the Hawks never made him an offer. Are we supposed to offer a contract to a guy that we don't want to sign? Ferry has never said one bad thing about Smoove and in fact praised him more than our previous GMs.
  6. Right. But how would it be Ferry's fault that we didn't trade him before Ferry came on board? Either way I think we did all we could do with Josh in terms of the last year he was here.
  7. Geez. I didn't realize the DL played in a middle school gym. Isn't there a college court or something for them to play on? I've never watched one of these but i thought there'd be more quality players. I guess a lot of guys choose more lucrative leagues.
  8. I was disappointed in the empty seats but hey i wasn't there either. To me this is why its important to have these hard working players. People will get behind this team eventually.
  9. The weather was horrible. Good thing we have a dome and another one on the way to protect ourselves from these horrible Atlanta winters.
  10. Exactly. You can't trade Josh for just draft picks. You have to take back salary and no one is going to trade an expiring for an expiring. It makes no sense. So letting him walk becomes better than getting a player back you don't want.
  11. That's amazing. Should be a great ceremony. Those 3 dominated two decades of baseball. Two of them former Braves managers. That's pretty sweeet.
  12. They didn't want to play for Mark Jackson and Doc Rivers because they were good players in the 80s. They wanted to play for them because they liked them as coaches. I don't know about the Mark Jackson as i'm guessing the Warriors being a really good team with big time talent was a major factor. But yeah CP3 wanted to play for a friggin championship coach for once in his life. He didn't recruit doc because he was a big fan of his steady play for the Hawks. Rings
  13. Skip had lots of great catch phrases as a Hawks announcer but i can't remember a single one right now.
  14. I don't have a problem with him being a little overweight except that every year he wears down by the end and has nagging injuries. To me that is a huge sign you need to get in shape. Of course, his four strikeouts in his last game as a Brave and having his bat never get off his shoulder with the whole season in the balance was alarming to me and made it a helluva a lot easier to see him go. Frankly i think the pressure of NY will be good for him. He's a clutch guy and when you're a Brave there just really isn't the kind of pressure you face in NY and Philly. Can you imagine if he blocked the plate on a homer for the Yankees. He'd be the talk of the town, and espn, for months.
  15. I was worried he'd be rusty. One more game and then its gravy time!!
  16. Come on. Seriously? Who pulled the best player from the Utah Jazz in free agency and signed him to a low cost deal...oh wait that was Danny Ferry. But Jordan landed Al Jefferson who has a dominant post game and, well, this
  17. Tree, Roundfield, Drew, Charlie Criss is as far back as i remember seeing a hawks game. Remember when Skip Caray was the Hawks play by play? If you were a kid in Atlanta (or the southeast as GM attests) you watched every thing that came on 'Channel 17'. Hawks, Braves, Geogia championship wrestling, lost in space, Bill Tush, Hazel...... Sorry i drifted off there and have nothing to add about Pistol Pete. Wes Matthews did come to my high school and bent the rim dunking.
  18. Stinkface. LOL. It's just totally ridiculous how much better your articles are than our local beat. You should sell these (maybe you do?).
  19. I actually thought he should be getting minutes based on his decent play early on but this is cool. Mack is 23 years old so its not like we are playing TLue in his waning years over Dennis. Calling someone 23 a journeyman is a stretch IMO. I think they see Mack still has potential to improve and is already playing damn good.
  20. Right. I feel like he's quite content doing what he does which is watching the Hawks and getting paid to comment, making appearances on sports shows, doing charity work, and punishing those who dare come after him in the house that he built.
  21. He's not saying they are trying to suck. Actually just the opposite. That they are trying to win and eventually they will be better because lets face it they have some talent. Without speaking for RedDawg the point is that unlike other teams, no matter how bad the nets get they will keep trying to compete because they have nothing to gain from losing. Its hard to imagine that team not making the east playoffs with the talent they have no matter how disfunctional they are.
  22. And its not going to be hard to make the playoffs in the east. In fact they only have to win the division right? Which right now means winning like 30 games
  23. DeRozan is already being talked about in Toronto and he'd fit in well here. We'd have to send a draft pick and either Milsap or Brand+others to make the numbers work. Or a three way trade may be better. Sorry to engage in trade scenarios but i think DeRozan is the type of guy who could be on the move.
