  1. Are Steisma and Robin Lopez better than Zaza? Is that swinging for the fences? Why wasn't Zaza starting for us the last 4 years? Because we put our best lineup on the floor when it matters. You can say we have a Brand, Antić, Steisma rotation but that isn't going to keep Horford out of the center spot completely because its a better lineup with him there. I'd much rather go into the season with a Milsap / Horford front court than a Horford / Steisma or worse a Horford / RLopez. Charlotte will regret that deal for Jefferson. If Jefferson is one of those true 5s that Horford has so much trouble with then maybe a review is in order. It only takes 15 seconds to see we signed the right jazz forward.
  2. Hmm. I've seen Horford hold his own if not totally outplay Brook Lopez and Hibbert. Not sure what real 5s you're talking about unless its Howard who is allowed 23 fouls a game. Since Al has already been an All-Star twice at the center position i'm not sure the point here. As for Scott he hasn't played a minute of serious nba basketball.
  3. I don't know about all those guys but you are talking about guys that aren't starting or logging big minutes. Its not like we've never had centers of that calibre here. Hell we've had Zaza and Twin here. We've got brand and Antić to play minutes at center but that's not what Al is talking about. He's complaining that we can't put him permanently in the PF position by having a 35 minute plus center. As JayBird said that guy hasn't been there to be had.
  4. Not for one year but all told his 5 year, 40 million dollar contract was a pretty good deal for an all star catcher in his prime. But remember the biggest problem he had was by september he was pretty much done most years. i just don't think he has the body to handle catching 120+games a year. Make him a DH you may have something. Of course I"d never pay $100 million for him.
  5. I'm not expert but it seems like at this point trading for a ping pong ball in this draft isn't going to happen.
  6. Well that's a good point. Of course, i'm always wary of the overseas draftees that don't come over immediately. They sometimes have a way of never making it. Luckily bebe is young. Hope we get him next year.
  7. I don't have much to add. Paying uggla to play elsewhere is probably high on the list. Let McCann walk. Of course we need a good 2nd baseman. I'm not sure E Johnson is the long term answer.
  8. He isn't mediocre but not worth $100 million. He's a damn good hitter but frankly with Gattis here and McCann letting that bat sit on his shoulder all of game 4 against the Dodgers I'm not pining for him to stay a Brave anymore.

    Milsap

Damn thought. Achilles is always a lingering issue right. Why not rest him for a week?
  10. I think that's crazy too. They do have a good coach though. I'm just hoping that we can somehow take Monroe off their hands this season.
  11. I didn't realize that was the way it was anyway. That would drive me crazy if i was a clips fan. You know the lakers would do the same...if the clips had any banners.
  12. I think he will have a great year. Being an allstar as a guard though seems really unlikely though since Rondo, Wade will make it without playing a game.
  13. I'm thinking Cunningham will be given a chance but if he hasn't done anything by the time Lou comes back he may get stuck to the bench. Still seems like he could be a really good player for us. Jenks is hurt, Dennis is raw, Lou is out. We are super thin at both guard spots.
  14. I don't see it. We're being frugal now so we can re-sign Horford and get some good players to go with him. Milsap doesn't replace Horford. Horford is much better. Unless there is a big time scorer and a 1st coming our way I can't see trading Horford. And no one trades big time scorers in this league. Except for Harden i guess, Melo. So you're saying there's a chance...
  15. Of all the guys we signed on one year deals he was one of the best. I was pretty skeptical but to me he is a lot better player than Damien or Dahntay. I like both those guys but Tolliver is good on both ends. I hope he does well.
  16. Horf and Teague. If you do Horf and anyone else then Teague is conspicuously left out. I think Teague gets way too much criticism here considering the cards he's been dealt in the past.
  17. Horford is my favorite player but i agree I don't know why this is such an ongoing issue. There are plenty of other 'undersized' guys playing center in this league. In fact the whole concept seems out of date. I bet there are more starting centers Horford's size than 7 foot,280. The problem isn't the willingness of the Hawks to do something about it. The problem is the lack of talented 'true' centers. It makes no sense to throw someone out there just because they are the right size when the team is better playing undersized. And we sure don't want to spend our wing money on a 7 foot stiff.
  18. Deng's great but i'm not sure we are the type of team that can tie our money up in guys like him. If our money is all in Horford, Deng, Korver, and Teague it's hard to add in another big money player. Those 4 are great players but they aren't taking us to a championship by themselves. All I've seen Deng is looking for a big payday.
  19. That doesn't seem that attractive to the Vikes though.
  20. I"m also a huge fan of Corbin. He had a great combination of size, smarts, speed and effort for a SF. Like KG I think he had the excessive sweat defense working in his favor too. Great stuff JayBird. Seems we may have two top PGs soon. My times have changed.
  21. Behind the scenes with Marvin Williams brings in more viewers i guess.
  22. Cap space is good at not shooting ill advised jumpers though.
  23. I saw that too. He really doesn't have a good sense of self. At some point you have to just learn to keep your mouth shut. The idea that the Magic should retire his number based on his 'accomplishments' there is beyond ridiculous.
  24. Can't Beasley help him with pain management?
  25. Damn man. Screw the Nuggets, screw the Knicks. It'll be funny to see two teams get better when he leaves. Ok, probably won't happen with the Knicks but still. Show some loyalty.
