  1. I think Doncic is the best fit with the current personnel and with Coach Bud. He’s a 2 that can handle the ball and shoot. Not that I think roster fit matters at this point, but he wouldn’t take minutes from any of our players that are actually promising. We know that the Hawks were looking for a secondary ball handler last year, and Doncic is as good as you’re going to find in that department. If he continues to progress as a shooter to the point of being elite, he’s the perfect Budenholzer shooting guard.
  2. Offensive improvement is the key for me being happy with Bamba in the to 3. He is so long it looks unnatural, and his defense would hopefully pair him nicely with John Collins. I’d still much rather have Ayton because I don’t think a defensive focused center is a good centerpiece of a franchise. He’d be a great piece of the puzzle though.
  3. I really like Sexton. If Schlenk and Bud think he’d be a star here then I’m all aboard getting the local kid. I’d like to move Dennis if we did fall in love with Sexton though. If he averages 20 this year I’m sure someone would give up a nice pick for him, possibly a pick that can be used to pair Sexton with one of the consensus top guys.
  4. He only scored 2 points in the first half too. I can’t wait to see the cut up of that second half. Seeing him against someone actually close to his size is something I really look forward to. Every time I see him standing next to the players on these cupcake teams it barely looks real.
  5. Actually Kostas actually flashes because he’s so dang long. Just the chance that he could be close to his brother is just so enticing.
  6. Giannis was always meant to be a Hawk. I hope the bucks organization crashes and he has to jump ship. Speaking of Giannis, I’m watching his brother at Dayton on ESPNU right now. He looks the part but he’s not even close to what I’d expect.
  7. I can’t stress enough how happy I am that it’s already draft season in November. It’s like the holiday season all the time!
  8. He’s big, he’s an athlete , and he’s a kid. Let’s not attack ththe character or kids we have never met. If he shows poor effort in college that’s more relevant and he hasnt yet. As always with questions of motivation, I defer to the people who will actually meet him, so if he’s the top pick he will have convinced the Hawks.
  9. I’m not going to hold high school for or against anyone. He’s been impressive against poor competition. I’m just saying he looks the part of a #1 pick. I still like Doncic better for now, but my opinion isn’t the one that counts.
  10. I’m quickly becoming team Ayton. I at least think he’s going #1 overall. He checks all the boxes teams seem to look for in a number one pick. I love Doncic, and I think if he becomes an elite shooter he can be the number one guy on a team. Ayton is just huge and looks the part of the ideal nba center
  11. Ah so that's where we are apart on this. I do think what the Hawks, Kings and Timberwolves have accomplished over the last ten years is the same. Playoffs mean absolutely nothing to me.
  12. Bingo! 100% this. Playoffs mean nothing if you aren't a contender. I'd rather have a lottery pick than be a pretender. More hope, less heartbreak. I don't care how many years it takes.
  13. I known Porzingis is a very different kind of player, but at Luka's age he was averaging 6.7 points and rebounds in Europe. Mario Henzonja who is also a 6'8 guard from Europe who went top 5 averaged 5.8 points, 1.2 assists, and 2 rebounds. People point to Ricky Rubio as the last young European phenom prospect coming up and while he's a pretty good NBA player, he's not a super star even with all the hype he got when he was a teenager. He averaged 8.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 2.6 rebounds and went 5th overall. Hell, Manu was 5 years older than Luka in Europe before he got drafted and averaged 16 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds. It's not that Luka is good in Europe, it's that he's unprecedently good. Malcolm Delaney, who played in the ACC and Europe, said that the best teams in college basketball would be good but not great European teams. He's the only guy I could find that said they could even be that.
  14. No I agree, but from what I've seen of Doncic this year, he could be that superstar. 24.0 PPG 65.4% 2PT 43.5% 3PT 88.9% FT 6.8 RPG 3.8 APG 1.3 SPG 27.1 MPG Here's his stats from his first 4 Euroleauge games this year. He's getting better by the day and that's scary. Like I said in my post, if he's an elite shooter, he's going to be one of the best players in the league.
  15. Haven't you heard. He played AAU. He's garbage.
  16. IF he becomes an elite shooter he's the franchise cornerstone we've been begging for. That's a big if though. Even if he doesn't become "the guy" here, he's a pretty fair bet to be a big piece of the puzzle. I heard this said about Lonzo last year and I think it applies to Luka: he might not be the best bet to be the best player on a contender, but he's the best bet to be a piece of a contender. For now, he's still my favorite draft prospect, but it's super early and improvements from the American prospects in college could easily change that.
  17. Timberwolves were bad, but were able to attract free agents because of their young talent. Jimmy Butler was a trade, but there's no way he would have been okay with being traded there if he didn't want to be there. He's also played 3 game this season and they've won two of them.
  18. They've got young, big names though. Like it or not, that's what you need. It's sort of a recruiting tool. If Paul Millsap and Al Horford were bigger names even if they were the same level of talent, then the Hawks would be in much better shape.
  19. There's plenty of players to be excited about if we keep losing. Contrary to the belief of many around here. Good players are 19 at some point. And the only way to get your claws in them for 9 years is by getting an early draft pick
  20. They have two guys that are going to be top flight super stars and are playing like all stars already. Players are going to want to play there. They are set.
  21. And for the millionth time. The sixers are going to be a contender. Soon. You just have to be patient. At least they have a much better fanbase that actually had fun with the process.
  22. Yeah but anything is possible
  23. Here's hoping the rockets somehow shock the world and get the 4th overall pick and send it here.
