  1. I don't think the Thunder would do an SGA/Trae straight up at this point, particularly since SGA has the better contract.
  2. To state the obvious, that was a terrible loss for this Hawks team. I am a little torn at this point as to how I want the post season to play out. Part of me wants the team to exit quickly so as to increase the likelihood the teams is aggressive in changing the roster in the offseason.
  3. I think Edwards and Murray would be a good fit, though I think it would be more likely that pairing end up together in Minny versu in the ATL.
  4. The Houston loss earlier in the season was also particularly awful. Similar situation where the Hawks were up comfortably and could not close out a terrible team. But given the point of the season we are now at, where wins are so important, this one is tough to stomach.
  5. I think the issue with that is Bogi’s health issues won’t let him play those types of minutes consistently.
  6. Miami does not have the juice to get Embiid and be left with a team that could get to the playoffs.
  7. I would have been okay rolling the dice that AJ could step into that role next season and use the resources on front court depth but more shooters are always good.
  8. Nets freaking won again tonight. After the trade deadline I was certain they would go into the tank and the Hawks would pass them in the standings. Not sure anymore given the limited number of games left to make up the difference in their records.
  9. I think offensively it does not matter if he is a SG or SF, but on defense he is probably better off at SG provided the team has another big wing who can switch with him if needed.
  10. I get it. Wiz are not good and I was just highlighting that we lost to what should be a lottery team without its best player.
  11. I think that team would be worse then this seasons team.
  12. JJ getting a DNP does not seem like a ringing endorsement from Quinn. We shall see of course, as one game is not enough of a sample size.
  13. Keep in mind the Wiz were without their leading scorer (and best player).
  14. Would be very disappointing if Washington overtakes Atlanta in the standings! They are getting closer than I would have expected.
  15. Total team (lack-of) effort tonight! Team really seems like it needs a break so I am hoping the time off the next few days helps some of these guys reset for the grind to the end of the season. Mediocrity and inconsistency sucks.
  16. Hawks lack consistency from game to game more so than any real contender. That explains their mediocre record. Can they go on a run - yes. ECF run from two years ago shows it is possible. Last years playoffs show the other end of the spectrum. I am not sure they have the right mix of players to jump to the next level but would be good to confirm that one way or the other with a different coach first. I am 100% sure a coaching change is needed.
  17. Bruno could not get minutes on the worst team in the league. Baring major injuries he will see garbage time minutes only. Matthew’s will see similar minutes. He is a shooter who does not shoot well. Both were acquired for cap savings only. That said the picks the Hawks gave up to get them were more valuable then the players. Bey is a legitimate addition to the rotation. I don’t think he will be ahead of either Bogi or AJ but he will be important when the inevitable Hunter or Bogi injury occurs. Bey and OO are on the same timeline for new contacts so query if they both will fit from a financial perspective going forward.
  18. These moves do not strike me as "we want to win this season" moves, but rather "let's see how things development and we will figure it out later" moves. I say that because typically when the main trade piece you receive back is 23 years old you are looking to the future and not the present. Maybe this will be different. Definitely provides some insurance depth on the wing if peeps get hurt.
  19. Nets trades mean the Hawks should move up a spot in the standings. That said, the Nets won't go full tank because they don't own their picks. They will have the draft pick ammo to get a star in the off-season and now have some role players, if they keep them, to fit alongside that star. But that is next year!
  20. I think the number of rookies coming in and dominating from day one is still very low, and if they are the number one option it usually means the team is very bad. Not many Tim Duncan's today, which makes sense given the rookie pool is generally younger due to the predominance of underclassman in the draft. I also think it is still veteran teams that win championships.
  21. Simmons is such damaged goods at this point why would the Hawks want him and could he even help. Given all the other stuff they would need to do to make him fit, coupled with him have zero positive impact for 3 years now, I would steer clear.
  22. No doubt it was a bad call to move him into management, but he was and is a good coach. Bud is the best coach the Hawks have had since Lenny, which is not saying a lot given how bad some of the hires have been.
  23. Hawks miss his shooting from last season true, but they miss the shooting Trae, Collins and Huerter provided last year too. I suspect the shooting issues would be much less of an issue if Collins and Trae were shooting in line with their numbers from the prior two seasons.
  24. Not sure any line-up on a .500 team deserves a nickname. In any event, I think that line-up has spent about 16 minutes total together all season.
  25. Has Sharife turned a corner in his NBA career? He is a little different then Maartin in any event given their respective ages upon entering the league.
