First Win?

Simple question, when will we get our first win? Last year we won our fifth and seventh games, just for reference. I like where we're headed, but we've had a really tough schedule that doesn't get any easier. Hopefully we can get the grizz because it gets ugly after that.

So let's play the guessing game and discuss.

Personally I saw a lot of progress on Thursday despite the loss. We seemed more focused, I think Woody's timeout and subsitiution patterns were significantly improved also. We missed a lot of open shots and free throws and I would hope that that will not continue.

Hopefully we can grind the tough first win out against the grizz on saturday. The team needs you hawk fans

What has happened to our 3 point shooting?

SS hit one that was a real beauty. That was it.

JJ, who is playing great, for the most part - 0-3.

AH, not known for the 3's - 0-1

SS, The microwave three point shooter, 1-5.

1-9 on threes. Suddenly, or perhaps continuing a trend,

the two new guys that have the rep for hitting the long

ones, JJ & SS go 1-8 from outside.

And, oh yes. By the way, Hawks missed 7 free throws

against the Clippers. Not too bad % on these shots,

that's true, but it just so happens that 7 points was the

margin of victory for the Clippers. Ironic, isn't it ????

Having lost all our games, the pressure continues to

mount on the Hawks. When a player is tense, there is just

enough pressure to throw you off just a bit and this

seems to be what is happening to the Hawks.

Get the monkey off their back - win a game - watch as they

relax just enough for these shots to start falling in.

Hiting half the 3's missed would have been 12 points,

enough for the victory. I know. I know. I'm playing

the "What if" game here, but it's not the big things

that are causing the Hawks to loose, it's the little

things that continues to go wrong.

Some game, and soon, I hope, things will go right for

this young team and we will begin to win. This will

cause our confidence to grow and lead to still more

winning - - Let's do it !!!!!

Gray the Hawks certainly had opportunities to win last night's game. Every time it seemed like they were gonna turn the corner there was a turn over, missed free throws, or bad shot.

Truthfully, the Clippers are a much better team than we are right now. This team just lacks talent. The guys actually played good last night.

Some better - Sure. I agree. And, they have the record

to prove it.

But, much better? Nope. Just a small difference between

winning and loosing in almost all NBA games. Hawks have

been just bad enough and tense enough to make the

difference in at least two of our losses.

Hawks were outscored in every quarter, not by a lot.

Just enough to make the final difference.

We don't need a major overhaul to turn this ship around.

We need better play out of the talent we have and we

need a few things to go our way. When a team is winning,

it seems that most of the little things go their way and

when a team is loosing, the little things go against them.

Example: In loss #4, a foul called against Atlanta with

only .2 seconds left in the game. First free throw wins

the game and second one kills the clock, eliminating .2

that was left.

Example: 3 point shots. 1-9. That stinks. Missing

7 free throws and losing by 7 !

Litle things will kill you. Sure, Clippers are better.

Much better ??? Not!

I hate to devalue us, but the clippers are easily much better than us. We could have beaten them, but they are much better than us. The latest CNNSI power rankings has them at #5 I believe. They are playing as well as anyone in the entire NBA.

Also the two of you that have us beating the spurs in SA for our first win are smoking rocks. I would love it, but that's close to an impossibility, especially on their courst when we're still looking for our first win
