Here a nice season preview for his team. They also have Trajon Langdon. I was wondering where he went.

After reaching the Euroleague Final Four but missing the title each of the last three seasons, CSKA Moscow in 2005-06 keeps its eyes tightly focused on the ultimate prize: a new continental crown, the club's first in 35 years. CSKA comes off a record-setting season in which it won its first 17 Euroleague games but finished with a bitter taste after losing at home in the semifinals. Following significant lineup and bench changes, however, CSKA makes no secret of aiming for the title again. New head coach Ettore Messina, a two-time Euroleague winner, is widely regarded as one of the best bench bosses anywhere. Additionally, CSKA landed heavyweight contributors like shooter Trajan Langdon, do-it-all swingman David Vanterpool, big man Matjaz Smodis and homegrown talent Vladimir Dyachok. They join forces with top returnees like all-Euroleague center David Andersen, J.R. Holden, Theodoros Papaloukas, Sergey Panov, Zakhar Pashutin and Aleksey Savrasenko to give CSKA as many as 10 players with Final Four experience. All of them know that while wearing CSKA colors, they are aiming for a singular goal: the Euroleague title.

CSKA's new chapter starts with the arrival of Messina, renowned for his ability to get the most out of every team. A lover of strong defense and transition basketball, Messina molded a roster with great versatility and talent. Holden and Papaloukas will run the point again, offering a perfect balance of skills. Holden is an electric playmaker and dangerous scorer, especially in the open court. Papaloukas is the classic tall playmaker, applying great court sense whether running a fastbreak or a halfcourt offense. Vanterpool is a coach's dream; a perimeter defensive ace who will do anything his team needs. Langdon is a pure shooter, especially in clutch time, and will know from having played previously for Messina when and where to expect his shots. Panov, Pashutin, Dyachok and Vassily Zavoruev will reinforce the perimeter. Panov brings experience and rebounding, Pashutin cool floor leadership, Dyachok quick one-on-one skills and Zavoruev youthful energy .

Once again, Andersen will be CSKA's go-to guy in the frontcourt. He exploded in Moscow last season, winning three Euroleague weekly MVP prizes en route to a first-team selection on the All-Euroleague squad. His mobility and turnaround jumper make him almost unstoppable when he's hot. As they did while winning the Euroleague under Messina in 2001 with Virtus Bologna, Andersen will team up with Smodis, a power forward with unlimited range outside the paint and versatility inside it. The determined Savrasenko will be ready to come off the bench to throw his weight around, as will shot-blocking Alexander Bashminov, who returns to CSKA after a season away. Each will be counted on for solid minutes in key stretches of Euroleague games.

With such depth and Messina’s track record boasting continental titles in 1998 and 2001 with Virtus Bologna, it comes as no surprise that CSKA will be once again one of the teams to beat in the Euroleague next season. Basketball has seldom been more popular in Moscow, especially after the city hosted the Final Four last spring. With an unquenched thirst to lift its first continental trophy since 1971, CSKA will once knock hard at glory's door in 2005-06.

tony parker is a great player, but most of that had to do with coach popp and the player development from san antonio. We won't mention a small part they call "duncan" who might be the best PF to play the game in some time.....or maybe for all times..and he came out of wake forest too like "Chris who we should of gotten Paul"!!!

David Andersen doesn't seem to fit what we need here in Atlanta, especially since we got ZaZa. David doesn't seem to be a shotblocker at all (only 2 blocks over all those games?). Either that means he is not athletic or he is terrible defensively. Zaza is the best man we've had since Mutombo and would have solve our problems if we had a true PF inside that blocks shots, rebounds, and run the floor like Bosh, Garnett, or J. O'neal.

With defensive numbers like those, I'll be surprise if David will ever rock a Hawks uni.

I haven't seen Anderson play, but no blocks does not mean bad defense. It means that he doesn't get blocks. You can be a great defender who forces turnovers and bad shots without getting blocks. Usually for big men, it tells me that the guy doesn't jump that high, but it doesn't mean that he can't get it done.

That being said, his D might be worthless, I have no clue
