Wow it seems like so long ago, but it was really on 5 yrs. Hawks fans felt like the last 3 months of his season were a sign of big things to come the next year. I will always wonder if he would've actually turned the corner had it not been for the accident. I think it was most likely wishful thinking that he'd be a star, but I think without the wreck, he would've been a nice player--a 6'9" shooting guard with great hops and a nice shot.

He was the biggest flop of that draft, though. It's hard to argue there was a worse pick in the top 8.

i was ok with the dj pick. dj probably wasn't gonna be great but i think fizer was a bigger flop. dj is fortunate to be alive after that nasty accident. i didn't think he would ever play again.

DerMarr was pretty bad, but the whole 2000 draft sucked. The best player, Michael Redd, was picked in the 2nd round.

I give everyone in the 2000 draft a pass. That entire draft sucked muchly. Dermarr MAY have been a quality swingman if not for the car accident. We will never know.
