i dont understand- trading before deadline?

theres something i never really understood... why do teams trade just b4 the trade deadline instead of a month or two before the deadline?

How come the DEKE trade was complete right before the deadline instead of a week before the deadline?

Is Trading like POKER? U try to keep a straight face and try to get the other GM to budge?

Suppose there are 2 teams that want to trade and both teams like the trade offer... do they wait til the trading deadline or do they pull the trigger right then?

because gm's are stupid...they are wanting to be sure no other team wants to complete some fantasy trade so they wait until the last minute while they could be using the talent right away..
