TnDawg
This article ( http://www.todayszaman.com/tz-web/detaylar...tay&link=117448 ) is another reason why it would be better for him to come play here this season. Apparently the Turkish Basketball League changed its rule allowing teams to have more foreign players on the team/ bench. The end result has been younger players like Cenk being benched. One resolution to fix the problem is to allow them to play elsewhere so they can develop while the TBL maintain certain rights to them.
leftwich
I don't think the article is implying that a guy riding the bench in a Turkish League is ready for the NBA.

BigDirty posted not long ago that many fans in Turkey don't think he should be on the national team.
TnDawg
for why he would rather play here in the U.S. this season rather than back home. It was posted earlier that is what he wants to do, but I'm no good at finding older posts to establish links. The article laments that it will be harder for future Turkish stars to develop, it doesn't state they are NBA ready. The question now is where do Cenk need to be in order to have a shot to play for our team in the near future, possibly the 2008/09 season.
BigDirty
It won't be that much harder for turkish players to develop, the rule is 3+2, that means they can have five foreigns and a maximum of three can be on the court at the same time. To give you an example from other european leagues, in Germany a team must have 2 german players in their game day roster, the other players can all be foreign and the german players don't even have to play, they just need to be on the bench. Most teams don't have a single german starter and there are more american players in the german league than there are german players. So compared to many other european league 3+2 is quite good for young players.
